Ali sleeps a 3-4 hour stretch and then is usually up every 1 1/2-2 hours after that. It's 440am now and I've been awake with her for the past hour. Boo hoo. At times like these I roll my eyes at the expression 'I slept like a baby'. Really?so you woke up every 2 hours hungry and crying?
My baby USED to sleep well. Then she hit four months and sleeps like crap. We didn't get her to sleep until after 11:30 last night and she was up for the day by 5:30, with two wake ups in between.
Yep, T slept great (2 wakeups) for one week, hit the 4 month regression on Oct 17 and is still sleeping like shit. On nights where it's "good", he'll sleep from 8 til Midnight and need his binky to be rocked, nursed at 3, rocked at 5, nursed at 6. On bad nights, it's every hour after Midnight.
I just wanted to come and say that C is 5 months today and the sleep regression thing does get better. She was over tired last night from crappy naps at daycare. A warm bath and a warm bottle do beautiful things for tired babies. Hang in there guys!
We've hit the 4 month sleep regression while transitioning from swing to crib. We had been up to a 4-6 hour stretch; now we're back to basically 3 hour chunks all night. He nurses for about 30 minutes each time. After his 3rd wake up he is ready to face the day but 3:30/4:30am is not an acceptable time to wake up. For now that's when he ends up in the swing. This morning he was awake for an additional 30 minutes after I put him in the swing but I was in my bed with my ears covered by pillows so I couldn't hear him playing. From what I understand, by the time they graduate high school they can usually sleep through the night ;-) That's what I keep telling myself.
Edit to add-DH was telling me 'horror stories' of his co-workers last night. Including a baby who woke up every three hours until she was 18 months old. I looked at him and said "You know that's how much he wakes up now, right?" He informed me that getting 6-7 hours of interrupted sleep a night is great for having a 4 month old. I should start having him go in to interrupt his sleep...

A little past 5 months here and it's getting better. Though at our worst it was only every 2 hours, not less than that. I really feel for you guys waking every hour!!
We're back to 2 wake ups most nights. After 6 months were going to consider MOTN sleep training to bring it down to 1. For now he still seems really hungry twice a night.

I've been getting home at 6 from work and because of the time change its 7 to LO so she is so overtired and screaming by then so I'm not able to give her a bath. I'm sure a bath would help. I need to figure out a way to work it into our schedule
We seem to be on the upswing from the sleep regression -- it only took 7.5 weeks! Our last few nights have been a 3-4 hour stretch, then up every two hours after. Who knew that I would be grateful for such a sleep schedule!

I have a question for those having issues with waking MOTN still. Is everyone breastfeeding? I'm just curious because the gal at daycare was lamenting to me about how her DD is a terrible night sleeper and she's still nursing. Is it because breast milk isn't as "dense" as formula so they are hungrier more often?
P did 8 hour stretches when he was two months old and then it all went to shit at 3 months and we're still stuck there. He goes to sleep sometime between 7-8 and wakes up every 3 hours or so. Occasionally he'll give us a night where he only wakes up once, but it's so rare. Last night he was up every two hours. It's always just long enough to eat and then go right back to sleep, but still. He is mostly FF these days and we've started him on cereal & fruits & veggies. He nurses first thing in the morning when he wakes up but I stopped doing it overnight because it was killing me to be up that much. We had transitioned him into his crib and that made things worse so now he's back in the Rock n Play, which he is about to outgrow. I'm terrified of moving him back to the crib. He also still won't take naps during the day for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.
This is all new to me because DS1 was mostly STTN at three months old. I'm at a loss.
@jimbobcooter this is same for us. We went from 8 hour stretches to now 1-3 hours ones. We start the night in the crib in her own room. Then sometime throughout the night end up w baby in the RNP but next to our bed so I'm delirious in the MOTN rocking that thing back n forth while I'm half asleep. So hard to function during the day w this much sleep.
I regularly need all the coffee in the mornings. She sleeps for a 3-4 hour stretch at first, and then is up and down all night long. We're giving her until she's 6 months, and then we will probably break down and do CIO.
Oh, and she is breastfed, but I also top her off with a few oz of formula at bedtime.
I also feel like the wake ups are worse since I went back to work.
Reverse cycling?
We're still all over the map (thanks teething!) Some nights he sleeps from 7-5:15am, other nights he's up every 2 hours (like last night), and of course, everything in between.

At this point I can actually feel my brain shriving up and dying. I try to save my still functioning brain cells for work & court but even that is anyone's guess on some days. I know it isn't going to last forever but I'm so done. And with that... there he is now. Waking up only 30 minutes after I finally got him to sleep for a morning "nap." Ugh...
ah ok, two completely different scenarios with similar wakeups. I was just curious if there was any correlation with the EBF and waking up to eat. Now I feel like maybe C isn't eating as much as your guy's babies.
Tangent here- How many OZ's a day is everyone's LO eating? We are at 30-35oz with 5-6 bottles a day. I know every kid is going to eat slightly different amounts but are we at least in the ball park?

She eats a lot while I'm at work. She eats 16oz in 8 hours. we havent even started the teething process yet. Not looking forward to that one.

After almost 2 months of awful sleep last night he only woke up 2 times! That may be due to the fact he started out in bed with us but DH and I both agree that if that means we are sleeping better and he is sleeping better we will do it. He still takes naps during he day in pnp.
False baytosa2013 - at least for me. We are EFF and baby has been sleeping like crap these past weeks. We went from 1-2 motn feedings to 2/3/4 motn feedings (not always the whole bottle, sometimes she will only eat half), and at least 3/4/5 wake-ups where she needs to be soothed back to sleep.
It might be true that breast milk isn't as dense, it's digested easier/quicker and they could be hungry more often. But I also think that it could just be your baby not sleeping good, totally separate from their eating. That's what it seems to be for us, at least.
if your baby IS SLEEPING WELL in the crib please share with us the room temp and what is your LO wearing at night. I.e. Footie pajamas only, footie pajamas and sleep sack. Etc.

@poppyc8,
Our thermostat is set to 66 overnight, but the video monitor says his room is 69-70. I have him in footie pjs with a sleep sack, both cotton. Once I get him down he usually sttn, it is going to bed where we have our troubles.

68. Wearing a fleece halo swaddle, now with one arm out, and cotton footed Jammies..
H goes down between 5:30-6:30 pm and puts herself to sleep easily. She sleeps in her crib in cotton footie pjs and a sleeveless sleep sack. She typically wakes at midnight, 3:00am and 5:30am. Major suck fest after she STTN (10+ hours straight) between 3 and 4 months, but clearly not as bad as some others. We EFF with approx 2 tbls of cereal and fruit twice a day. DH takes all the night wake ups now that he's a SAHD which is so nice of him but I still hear her and wake up, so neither of us is actually sleeping well. Can't wait till this is over!
V easily falls asleep between 7:30-8. She is in a cotton footie pj with a Halo sleep sack, arms out. The room is probably 67-70 degrees with a humidifier, air purifier and small fan that circulates air. Recently, she has been waking up several times in the middle of the night. As soon as we get up and put paci in her mouth, she is out. I do not get her out of bed nor do I feed. The MOTN paci is a habit we need to break, but I can't see, to just let her " cry it out" because I feel like she is starting to teeth.
she doesn't officially get up for the day until 7:30- 8 am the next morning.

We have the same paci problem and I feel the same way about fixing it! It could be worse..
Yeah, us too. I'm open to ideas... If I don't give her the paci, she wakes up more and requires more settling.

Mine has outgrown her rnp and now refuses to sleep in her pnp, in her crib, or even on our bed while I'm wide awake watching her haha. It's just comical at this point how shitty sleep has been for as long as I can remember. She used to be amazing at it. She will only sleep for any real length of time on top of me. I am not a very big person so her 100 percentile height and 17 pound body kills me. She'll sleep on DH too but he pees at least once at night so that doesn't help. I'm truly lost. I do not know what to do. She HAS to sleep in her crib eventually.
