We're on cold number 3 in just about a month and a half. The middle one was just a chesty cough but the first and third were/ are awful. She's had a fever off and on since late last night. This last temp was 102.8...it's already coming down after some tylenol but shit is scary. She's a trooper though. She's so clogged up so sleeping isn't something we're getting a whole lot of tonight. Hooray daycare!
Poor thing, that's scary. V has been sick for pretty much two months now, I don't even know if the colds really went away before they came back, but we haven't had a fever except for when he got his shots Hope she feels better soon!
With DS his pedal explained to me that colds tend to linger for a while in babies. Hope both of your babes feel better soon.
Not sure what is going on with Tins. Last night she wouldn't fall asleep, and then she woke up at 11:45, 2:45, and 4:45. At 4:45 she whined in her sleep for about 45 min, and then I got her up and fed her since it was close to her normal wake up. She has been super fussy and clingy all day. ALL DAY. She fell asleep about 8:30 tonight, and currently has been up since about 11:45 fussy and whining. She just fell asleep. And husband is at work at night, so I'm alone on this. No position I hold her in helps.
She's already 6 months, no? There's also a 6 month sleep regression/growth spurt. The other culprit could be teething possibly?
Yes ma'am! She's about 6 and a half months already. We didn't have much of a regression during the four month timeframe, so I'm guessing this is payback. Lol.
ETA: I just checked Wonder Weeks, and she's also currently in the middle of a pretty big leap.
We forgot to bring the rock n play with us to the cabin so P had to sleep flat in the play pen. He got up every 90 minutes last night. Every. 90. minutes. all. night. long. We are here for three more nights. The nearest store to get another RNP is over an hour away.

Elevate the play pen, roll a towel and form a U to form around baby (curve at the top and open at bottom) and hopefully that will trick him enough to give you a slightly better night. I understand the struggle I have a RnP addict too

Well, we elevated one half of the PnP mat with a blanket under it and then put the Boppy in the other half. So, his torso is more upright, his butt is sitting in the U of the Boppy with his feet propped up, and the Boppy is somewhat hugging him. He fell asleep easy enough. Hopefully that will come close enough to the RnP that we get some sleep the rest of the time we are here. And if it is, I am SO running with it after we get back home and getting rid the RnP for good. My biggest hesitation with the RnP was a difficult transition to crib but everyone told me that it was NBD and their baby did it without any issues and that I absolutely had to use it. Liars. All of them liars. I should have listened to my gut and just started him flat.
Yep, the rnp transition is hell. We've been out of it for two weeks over here but she's still sleeping in the flattened newborn napper in the pnp. We're going to try to pull that out in a few weeks. She's already sleeping horribly, so why not try something new?
A high school friend posted about her two month old and said "he's mostly sleep trained!" And I just am lol'img over here. My two month old slept so well, too!
I've got a RNPer too. She slept in that because of reflux issues. She's getting too big for it, so we are trying to get her to sleep in her PNP, then her crib. However, her current sleep situation is on me or her dad. She started refusing to lay down last night. Crying when I laid her in her bed, cried when I laid her on my bed, instantly woke up screaming when laid in her RNP, cries when Iay her down to change her diaper. Nights have been a nightmare.
budders That's pretty much what we are doing. I figured I was out for the week of thanksgiving, and I'll be out for Christmas in three weeks, so might as well do it now.
Also, no regrets. She slept like a champ in that thing until recently.

We ended up going to the Dr. On Monday because I couldn't get her fever down with tylenol...turns out I was giving her way too low of a dose but it's good we went because she had another ear infection and rsv. Because she had both the dr gave her an antibiotic shot for the ear infection so she wouldn't be AS miserable. She also lent us a nebulizer for a few days. She's doing a little better now. Dr. said she should be mostly better by monday. Whew!

After two nights in a row of waking every two hours I was feeling desperate... DH said he thought a wet diaper may be to blame. So when DB woke for the second time at 12am I changed his diaper, which I never do. He slept until 6am! Yaaay!
I was really hoping hed go back down for another hour but you can't get everything you want

Sometimes I think that's our problem too. When you change the diaper is he up for a long time afterwards?
I can only get 3-4 hours stretches from Ali still. I used to get 8 hour stretch so I'm always trying to figure out what we are doing wrong
Arghhhhh LO went to bed around 8:30 and has been up at 10:15 and now 11:30. She probably would've went back to sleep at 11:30, but my H just pushes her soothie back in and gives her toys while she cries/fusses and then rolls over and asks me what I'd like him to do. Well, it would've been nice if you picked her up and soothed her so I didn't need to get up and nurse again!
I'm just so frustrated over this lack of sleep thing. There's no rhyme or reason to her wake ups. She doesn't even eat this much during the day.

After a few nights of terrible sleep I finally got a 6-hr stretch out of Oscar. I feel like you just never know... Hopefully your LO turns a corner asap!

So now M sleeps on his belly but in the motn he rolls on his back gets his arm stuck in the slats. Considering putting up the bumper we got back from my baby shower. Is the SIDS risk the same for a 5 month old who rolls and is able to turn his head from side to side?

Personally I think it's riskier to have a bumper as they do become mobile. Getting tangled in it or using it to pull up/stand on. But I don't use bumpers at all with my kiddos. I think it's a personal choice...

We have mesh bumpers, which are breathable. V still managed to get both feet and hands stuck through the slats this morning though. And he was on the opposite end of the crib and at a 90 degree angle from where I left him.
I ordered the mesh one but when I attempted to put it on, it just seemed so flimsy I'm worried it'd be easier for M to get tangled up in that.
This is the one I have:
He's gonna be 5 months and a week. It looks pretty damn difficult for him to wedge himself between the bumper and the crib- but I still was too scared to leave him with it. He's hurting himself though getting his arm stuck in between, then rolling.
I'm honestly looking for someone to say it's fine, but I'll take criticism, too.

I think it's totally what you're comfortable with. I would be up all night checking the monitor making sure he was breathing, so I wouldn't be able to handle regular bumpers. If that's not the case for you, then I'm sure you'll be fine.
I feel like by me even questioning the use of it makes me a bad mom, especially with the AAP guidelines. Which is why I haven't used any between 2-4 months, but still. Why must all decisions be riddled with guilt?
@poppyc8, I also change him before nursing, and he has no trouble going back down. It's worth a try
I tried changing her and she still woke up every 3 hours. Oh well. I just keep reminding myself that eventually she will grow out of this. DS was similar and he doesn't wake up anymore. He could sleep through an earthquake.

I agree I think the bumper risk is also related to once they can pull up to stand at 8 months-a year they can use the bumper to climb and get tangled in it and or climb out of crib and fall out. For now you are prob ok but later you might want to remove them again.

FFFC- We have bumpers on DD's crib, they're essentially the same as the ones you posted. It's definitely a comfort level thing. The first few nights I was constantly waking up to check that she wasn't pressed up against them, but she almost never even comes near them! Which is funny because we put them on in the first place because she was getting caught in the slats and hurting herself trying to roll over. Babies are weird!
TL;DR Go with what makes you comfortable, but you'll get no judgement from me:)
We are trying the PNP tonight. I did the towel rolled up in a "U" shape and its under the fitted sheet. I also put a towel under the mattress to elevate it a tad. She slept for two hours and then woke up. She's back down, but we will see how the rest of the night goes.
I started to party because LO went to sleep by 7:30 and h and I had two glorious hours watching Scandal. She woke up around 10:30, nursed, and fell asleep. Easy!
She woke up as I was putting her down and she hasn't been back to sleep since. I'm nursing her again now and she's still not sleeping. Omg.
She went down by 8 but we're already on our second wake up of the night. Both involved tons of screaming and crying until I just pulled out my boob to nurse this time. Sigh. I just don't know what else to do!
I'm currently sleeping on an air mattress in the dining room because the only place where my child will sleep calmly for any extended stretch is in her SnuggleNest on my side of our bed while holding DH's finger. And even then she wakes every 3-4 hours looking for her paci. I'm lucky that DH does the majority of the night time wake-ups (since he's not working) but damn child, my back hurts and I'd like to sleep in a real bed again! I tried sleeping in there with them but they're both loud/restless sleepers and it kept me up. Plus Hayley gets so excited when she sees me that she gets all worked up and doesn't fall right back to sleep. I can't wait till this kid will sleep in her crib again!!!

+1 on the restless sleeper. He wakes up 2 times during the night but is restless the rest of the night after his first wake up. We bed share and after the first wake up I pretty much am up off and on all night trying to get him still so he doesn't wake up. So so sleepy!!
We're on wake up #3. I'm trying not to nurse and I've been rocking her for 20 minutes. At least she stopped crying; we let her fuss for a solid ten minutes before that turned into screams.
Jude would not go down tonight. It's almost 10 and he's just now fallen asleep. I usually nurse him on the couch around 7:30 and he passes out. Every time we tried to move him to the pnp tonight, he woke up. I tried just leaving him in the pnp to work it out for himself, and he was fine for awhile, but didn't actually go to sleep. So I put him back on the boob. I can't imagine that he's actually hungry, but he latched on right away and seemed to want to eat. Growth spurt? Comfort nursing? Whatevs. I'm just relieved that he's asleep now, even if it's in our bed. I'm afraid to try and move him at this point.

Leap 5 is proving to be a challenge. And I didn't put stock in the wonder weeks with DS. Bedtime have been awful. DH has ended up having to take over a few nights. Plus our # of wakeups keeps increasing...
