Good morning! DH's team has practice today so I'm flying solo with DS this morning and afternoon until he's done. We've worked on his Christmas list and now we're building block towers and watching Mary Poppins. My hope today is that I won't have to put real clothes on.
Good morning! I can't seem to be able to get out of bed this morning so my plan is to stay horizontal as long as possible. Last night we got our first gift for the baby! Our friends gave us a cute little soft stuffed lamb!! It got me so excited to think about stuff for the nursery!

Soultrain you're making me hungry with talk of coconut and candy...
So I told my dad and stepmother about the pregnancy last night. My dad got all sweet and started waxing philosophical about how being a parent changes you, and being a grandparent changes you, and how wonderful that all is. My sister has a 9 year-old daughter and a 20 year-old stepdaughter so this isn't their first grand baby, but it's the first in a while, so I think they're excited! My stepmother started insisting that she "knew" I was pregnant the last time she saw me because I had a certain "glow". I was 5 weeks then. She said she was expecting this but didn't want to pressure us (we were only married 5 months ago!). Now she's asking me lots of personal questions about my bladder habits and food needs. She means well, but it's sort of awkward!
frecklesnbrains I'm so glad it went well! My MIL loves to ask awkward personal questions...she also means well but it can get awkward especially when my FIL is right there!
I have a horrible headache - wah! This week was rough and I think this headache is the hangover from it all. I just hope it goes away soon!
We have a busy day today, my sons birthday party and then a concert tonight. We are telling all our friends about the twins at the party so I'm just really hoping everything is still okay in there, because after today a lot more people will know the wonderful news! Can't wait for my next appointment on the 30th, I'm so nervous!
I was supposed to work both today and tomorrow (not at my main job, but a semi part-time thing that I do), but I called in sick yesterday evening. I could not stop throwing up yesterday. Then it's like a snowball effect and when I have nothing in my belly, I get dizzy and get a migraine.
I'm feeling slightly better today, but not much. I'm going to try to work tomorrow though. My mom luckily is staying at my house this weekend to watch DS.
I'm working Saturday Detention, which is a nice way to have three hours to do all sorts of school work and get ahead on copying, planning, etc.
I have a hair appointment after this. I only go every three months, so I am excited to have nicer looking hair again. After that DH and I have plans to do nothing! Yesterday I went from 7:15am and didn't get him from dinner until 11pm- I want to nap today!
babyzebra, I hope you can stomach a little protein and feel better today. I know what you mean about the snowball effect & how overwhelming that gets.
titania awww, getting the first gift is so sweet & makes it feel more real, huh?
athn64 as someone who lives in a climate without snow, I'm jealous and that sounds really fun & perfect for kicking off the holidays. (Prob not as fun if you're used to it) Hope you're staying warm!
twobananas I hope your headache goes away soon. My SIL swears by pinching the pressure point I between thumb & index finger to stop headaches. It works for me about 50% of the time.
I've had a headache since last night...then my 2 year old did not sleep! She's usually a great sleeper, but last night she just cried and fussed and yelled for me. I finally went and "slept" with her, she has a double bed, but she was restless. I think I slept maybe 3 hours.
Good thing my mom is coming up today, my dad is out of town on a hunting trip so it's our traditional girls weekend. And DH is working for a while.
Finally the weekend. I'm making a birthday cake, gluten free brownies, two frittatas and prepping a bunch of stuff today for DS's party tomorrow. I'm doing a brunch thing with a bagel and smoked salmon bar and a bunch of sweet baked goods. I will be sad to miss out on mimosas though.
The internal recruiter at the job I am hoping wasn't able to get a hold of the person I had my final interview with so I'm still waiting to hear any news, I hate waiting.
Last night at dinner DH and I told DS (3) that he is going to have a baby sister or brother and he is going to be a big brother. His reply was 'Which one, a brother or sister?' Followed by 'Can I have my treat now?' Priorities.
What is with all the headaches! I have a cold so it is a sinus headache. Every time I bend over there might be a brain explosion. I am trying to get motivated to get ready for a four year d birthday party. I got nothing.

The headaches sound awful.
The other morning I was reading something in one of the other forums about someone going to a kids birthday party this weekend and my first thought was 'Who has a birthday party the weekend before Thanksgiving, people are so busy'. Then of course I remembered, well I guess I do, oops. I am providing alcohol for the adults so at least there's that.
I've been getting more headaches as well. I assume it is pregnancy related, so I've been trying to stay more hydrated. I tried out my Doppler today and it worked! I found my heartbeat first, then a much faster one. I was surprised it was so easy after my OB told me I might not get a Doppler next week because it is early to hear anything. I guess it really depends on where the little bugger is hanging out, some people who reviewed my machine on Amazon said it didn't work for them until 14 weeks or later. It does my PGAL brain good.
We are in full on party prep mode over here! We have a such a busy weekend and coming week, I may not be on here much. But lumberjack birthday party will be tomorrow! I'm so excited. MS had so much fun Thursday for his bday- we went to the children's museum for the first time and he LOVED the water table. Then he inhaled his cupcake! It was like he knew it was going to be the greatest thing ever!
As for us, DH is working on his last major school project so DD and i are at my parents to play for the day. It's my mom's 61st b-day so I made cheesecake!

Hey guys. I need a new prenatal vitamin that contains iron but I'm so overwhelmed by the options! I'm looking for: 1) one small(ish) pill per day, 2) nothing that smells foul, and 3) DHA added. I don't really care about 90% of the other ingredients in those things. I've been taking gummies (which I LOVE) but my hematocrit is on the low side of normal so I know I'll need a red blood cell boost for second & third trimesters. Tell me what brand you're taking!
DS has been awesome today. He has played nicely by himself and hasn't gotten into stuff. When he wouldn't fall asleep right away for his nap, I used the talk feature of his video monitor and told him in my stern mommy voice that he needed to lay down and go to bed. He did just that and slept for 2 hours! As awful as I feel, I'm really lucky to have a mostly really easy and laid back toddler.
