I think I am going to do a Spish Splash birthday. I am going to have sprinklers to play in and slip and slides. I am thinking about having water balloons for the older kids. I am going to give each kid a small water gun as a favor that they can also play with. Then set up a tent and do BBQ food. I wanna do some water games but that is TBD.
FWIW DS was afraid of the sprinkler last summer (he was almost 2). Just make sure your LO isn't scared like ours was or this could be a bust.
I hadn't even considered this. I am hoping she's a water bug like her momma
This thread was started WAY too early. You FTMs are so silly.
This is my 2nd and 3rd lol.
Eh. I plan ahead mostly so I can scope out sales/clearance. I'm the person that buys after Holiday clearance stuff for the next year.
I wish I was like that but I just think "where the heck am I going to keep that and not forget about it for the next year?" Plus my "tastes" change from one day to the next.

As of this coming Thursday, we'll have two months left before the girls are 1. Ahhh. Sorry, DD2 is "helping" me type. We're still doing birds/flowers, and planning on cupcakes and ice cream (not full meal like we normally do, will have snacks though).
I've convinced the hubs that a Sophie themed party would be cute so that's what we are doing. Super excited. It'll be pretty intimate since we will be back on Boston so there won't be fam or anything but I still want to plan something small. About to Pinterest it up since Mbug is sleeping on her Daddy on the plane.
We're doing a Sophie theme, but nothing too big. Just a cake and smash cake with some cookies, probably. That and some invitations will be as much of a "theme" as I get. Ha.

I still haven't chosen a theme. In fact, I'm now onto the idea of an ice cream theme. I think I'm down to pink/gold, butterflies, or ice cream as my top choices. My mom bought this tutu/hat though so I'll have to use them somehow, even if it's just for the 1st birthday photo shoot I posted about.
I just realizing having an end of July baby means I can see what you all get for your LOs so I can decide what to get for DS2 since right now I have no idea what to get that we don't already have.
I only even have a theme because I wanted to find invitations first before planning a party and then not finding invites to go with it. I quickly found the one in the pic below and had just happened to buy the onesie below. I went back and got it in a bigger size and I going from there. So it will be a mermaid/under the sea theme. Just checked out your Pinterest board. You have some awesome ideas!
Haven't even run any themes by my husband. He'll think I'm nuts with those collages I've made. Which I am.
Collages aren't silly. For DS's first birthday we did flags similar to below and each one had one of his monthly photos so you could see how he had grown over the year. It currently hangs in his room now. For his second birthday, I did a collage poster of pics from between his first and second birthday. That is now framed and hanging in our kitchen.
I discuss themes with the hubs because he always manages to come up with something a little more unique than I can, then I make it happen.

This is what I've bought, and other than making some tissue paper flowers (maybe, to hang in our tree) I won't be buying more than food. I'll probably make some chocolates as party favors, since I tend to do that anyway. I made cookies'n'cream owls for DS's first birthday party. I made a photo bunting-type-thing for DS's progression photos so I'll do the same for the girls.

I am so excited for DD's First birthday! I mean, I will be crying most of the days before and after but can't wait to start making stuff for her party. We decided on a Dumbo Circus theme..
SO. MANY. PINS.
I plan on making most of the decorations/cake..etc. The Christmas Tree shop had a 4 ft popcorn machine on sale so I splurged and got it!

I just can't believe how fast this is going!
That is awesome, so many possibilities with that theme

DD is actually a 4th of July baby. So we're just doing a red, white and blue theme (and by theme I mean probably a few balloons, nothing crazy) and a BBQ at my aunts house. Of course we'll have a cake to make sure we get some good smash cake pics. Then we'll head to my hometown park later for some fireworks.

I need to come up with a theme and figure out where to host it. And who I want to invite. I don't have a whole lot of non-work friends and most of my extended family is 90 miles away and they don't want to drive that far. DH's relatives are all much further away (though ironically, they are more likely to come than my family.)
In my mom's hometown there's a beautiful park with an air conditioned party room you can rent and an antique carousel you can rent out. That seems kind of fun to me but anyone we invite from where I live may not want to drive that far. But again, may not be an issue with my lack of real-life friends.
@soon2bemrsn your collages and themes are so cute! I am in denial about DS turning 1 in a few months. We aren't doing a big party or anything, just immediate family for a cookout and cake probably, but DS loves curious George so we will at least be getting a curious George cake.
