I know some of us are starting to have a/s in the coming weeks so I thought it would be really fun to create a separate thread so we can show off our babes
1) When are you due?
2) If you found out, what are you having?
3) If you found out, did you have any sex disappointment? (This is a "safe space" it's totally normal to feel a range of emotions when it comes to joining a team)
4) What's your name strategy? Do you have a name set in stone? Taking a couple to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet?
4) If you aren't finding out, what's your name strategy? Do you have one of each set in stone? Taking a few to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet?
1 Due June 13 2 Boy! 3 nope Two boys will be awesome! 4. Trying to find a Spanish/English name we love as much as DSs name. We have a short list but nothing has stuck yet. 5 we have the anatomy scan in January but did the cfdna testing due to AMA so we know a lot already! Update a/s was today and everything looked awesome!

I'll play since we're team green so I can already answer most of these things.
1) When are you due? 6/14
3) If you found out, did you have any sex disappointment? Honestly this might be part of why we are team green. I think if we found out we were having a boy by u/s I'd be a little disappointed, but I can't imagine being able to feel disappointed when there is a little baby to hold (boy or girl)
4) If you aren't finding out, what's your name strategy? Do you have one of each set in stone? Taking a few to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet? We have one boy and one girl name. I can't say I'm 100% convinced on our girl name but H is not interested in considering other options.
5) Any AWs/comments/questions? I actually think we might skip the a/s. I have to talk to my ob about it at my next visit. But as of the last time I researched there was no difference in morbidity/mortality with the anatomy scan. I'm not against getting another u/s if needed (measuring off, etc). Plus I learned with my dating u/s apparently I get charged 100% oop for ultrasounds. Thanks insurance

@packersfan4life the anatomy scan is one of the ones that it's really recommended to get (at least here/experiences I've encountered) It's intended to check baby's growth and all vital organs are there/ok (and placenta placement, cord etc)
It really sucks you have to pay OOP for them
ETA: I meant to phrase this that maybe you won't/can get out of paying because doctors usually really want this information - not that I think you're making a poor decision.

Oh I absolutely know why they're done and why people and obs like them. And I do intend to have a discussion with my ob about it (I'm not totally crazy). But screening u/s to me is kind of like if everyone got a screening mri. Sure you pick up disease. But you also get a lot of incidental findings for which you then get more testing and worry which may be unnecessary. And based on the studies I've read (which granted this was a few years ago) they haven't changed perinatal morbidity/mortality, since a lot of the diseases show some other abnormalities that would lead to a diagnostic u/s being done anyways. I've also seen a/s miss major abnormalities - congenital heart disease, trisomy 13, etc so just because an a/s is normal doesn't necessarily mean your baby will be healthy.
That being said if there was any indication of problems - bad fundal growth, problem with hb, lack of movement, etc I would not question a diagnostic u/s no matter what the cost.
Also, I absolutely have no issue with a/s in general, just not entirely sure I want to get one. Although if my ob really pushes it/convinces me otherwise I will do it. We'll see how he reacts at my appointment next week

I'm curious to read the literature about anatomy scans and correlations with outcomes that you mention packerfan4life. It's an interesting topic. It is definitely true that the scan is not super-sensitive when it comes to picking up birth defects, but it's pretty good at detecting those that are very severe. Sometimes there's nothing that can be done, but there are some birth defects that can be successfully treated if you deliver at a specialty center and have a pediatric ICU and surgeons at hand. These are the types of situations is like to be able to plan for, if possible.
packerfan4life, there are also other good reasons to have the 20 weeks scan. It can show abnormalities for you. Placenta that is not functioning well or previa. I don't know of any OB that would truly say that it is ok to skip. But all the other scans like a viability or 12 week genetic fine.

packerfan4life, what you've read also interests me, as I know two people personally where the anatomy scan picked up important factors. One saved the moms life and the other allowed for the baby getting surgery right after birth saving his life. Because of these, and knowing them personally, I recognize I'm biased though. I'm glad you're going to talk to your ob about it - and either way, I also think it sucks that your insurance doesn't cover.

1. June 21
2. IT'S A BOY
3. No but DH is a tad sad to not be having a girl. I know he really wants a daughter. He seemed excited to tell everyone tonight, so I know he's happy, but there's still that little bit of being bummed out.
4. We like Liam, Logan, and Benjamin. Middle name for sure Edward after FIL.
5. Baby boy was on his back and flipped over, legs wide open, and before the sonographer said anything I screamed, "That's a boy!!" She was like, "yes, yes it is!" Then I started laugh crying. So exciting!!!

Team green here!! So far I am not wavering whatsoever on finding out so I'm going to answer now!
1) When are you due? June 4th
2) If you found out, what are you having? A baby! ?
3) If you found out, did you have any sex disappointment? (This is a "safe space" it's totally normal to feel a range of emotions when it comes to joining a team) We are hoping for a boy but both have their perks! We just think DD might have jealousy issues.
4) What's your name strategy? Do you have a name set in stone? Taking a couple to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet?
4) If you aren't finding out, what's your name strategy? Do you have one of each set in stone? Taking a few to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet? We have a list going for each but I have a feeling that list will be coming to the hospital with us!
5) Any AWs/comments/questions? I'm so excited to see what everyone else is having!!!
1) When are you due? Measuring with a EDD of May 29th
2) If you found out, what are you having? We are having a baby BOY!
3) If you found out, did you have any sex disappointment? (This is a "safe space" it's totally normal to feel a range of emotions when it comes to joining a team): surprisingly I did. I don't know if it's because I already don't want to hear how my "family will be complete" or "that's a perfect family now" and "you must be so happy" etc etc.... I sort of had myself convinced how great two girls would be, as I know I always wanted a sister. I also had a girl name picked out already and was in love.
4) What's your name strategy? Do you have a name set in stone? Taking a couple to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet? Boy names are so much harder for some reason. We barely even have a list right now.
4) If you aren't finding out, what's your name strategy? Do you have one of each set in stone? Taking a few to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet? With DD we were team green and had a couple of each we brought with us. After meeting her it just made sense to me.
5) Any AWs/comments/questions? I'm bummed to find out my suspicions were correct and I have an anterior placenta, so not feeling as much movement as Id like.
But baby was a huge show off and the anatomy scan only took 15 minutes. With DD I remember being there for over an hour and having to pee and move positions a number of times.
He's also giving an adorable thumbs up in the printout we got
2) If you found out, what are you having? A baby GIRL!
3) If you found out, did you have any sex disappointment? (This is a "safe space" it's totally normal to feel a range of emotions when it comes to joining a team). Nope, more shock. We originally were going to be team green, then the VisibiliT results came, and taunted us for a week and a half before we gave in and opened it. We were both SURE it was a boy (DH only because I was so sure, apparently) and we were both floored to find out that it's a girl! Come to find out we were both secretly hoping for a girl, so...yeah, we're stoked
4) What's your name strategy? Do you have a name set in stone? Taking a couple to the hospital? Not ready to pick yet? We have a multiple page list. We tend towards less popular old lady names, so we are going through family trees to see if anything jumps out.
5) Any AWs/comments/questions? I had my first appointment with my new OB this morning, and scheduled my anatomy scan for 3 weeks from today! Oh, and DH happy cried when we found out we're having a girl
With all the traveling this week I hadn't really read this thread before now, but wanted to chime in to say that finding out about G's birth defect during his a/s was super helpful because we were able to search out doctors and have a treatment plan in place that we were confident in. We were also able to process his diagnosis and come to terms with it before he was born so it wasn't quite as overwhelming.
I totally get being on the fence though if it's totally out of pocket. That's insane!
With DD, we didn't find out what we were having. She didn't even have a name until noon the day we left (so umm over 36 hrs old!).
This go around, we're still team green ... we think. Part of me doesn't want to know, the other part really really wants to know if my mom's prediction (she's a firm believer in OWTs) is correct. She predicted two pregnancies, two girls. She's never been wrong either...
We'll see. We may do the whole "write it down and put it in a sealed envelope trick" ...
Love all the posts and ultrasound pics. Can't wait to hear my little one again on Monday. Then two more weeks before my anatomy scan.
Regarding names, we're thinking for middle names Ronald (after FIL) or Anne (after MH's grandma who passed away this past June).
First names ... I still love Colton for a boy.
Girls are harder. I love old names that can be condensed. Lexi (DD) is short for Alexandra. She's already got my favorite name for a middle (Elizabeth). So if it's a girl, it'll need to sorta "match". I love Victoria (Tori for short) but husband hates it. He liked Hailey last go around but there isn't really a nickname. Such dilemmas.
