Just went to check out an in-home daycare. It's only 5 minutes from my house, the lady who runs it seemed very nice and well prepared but DS would be her first baby. She had answers for all of my questions and has obviously thought through how she will run her daycare, she's worked in daycare previously and is fully licensed through the state, but she hasn't picked up any families yet. For the time being, DS would be the only child there -- so 1-on-1 care for daycare prices. The price is great -- nearly $500 less than what we pay at our current, larger center (that is 30 min from home/ 40 from work). I'm hesitant bc I can't get any feedback from other families, but also feel like this could be a great option. Opinions are welcome. TIA!
Does she have a web cam set up that you could view remotely as you wish? The in home daycare options we checked out all did. If she does I'd say go for it - if not, I'm at a loss for what I'd do too. She does sound very qualified and it is much closer and less expensive. I guess all signs point to trying it out.
We are now on our way to dh's friends house for the game...earlier than his friend was planning bc both men thought the game started an hour later than it does. But my use of FB told me the right time.
It's a freaking blizzard here so we scrapped our plans and now my mom, DS and I are stuck in the back room while my brother and his weird friends take over the rest of the house. And there's no wine. Boo.
I'm so tired, i read the bolded as "we crapped our pants"
Ahhh... Guise, h has a really good friend of his over with his wife and three of their 4 kids. I was excited to meet them (they just moved back into the state from across the country) well wife didnt seem to excited to meet me or talk. Now I am in my room pumping and she is taking selfies with my baby and putting them all over FB! I feel creeped out right now :/
That's really annoying, did she at least ask before putting the pics up?

She has to have some references of some sort though? If she could provide adequate character references (that you feel confident in) and proof of her licensure, I would go with it - if your gut is telling you it could be good! (I am a huge proponent of listening to your inner 'sixth sense'/gut feeling when it comes to childcare, especially if all the legal/safety requirements are met.)

What does your gut tell you? If you're comfortable with her, go for it. Something happens and you decide it's not a good fit for you, switch.
keelyd Can you do any investigative work on her and previous places of employment? It sounds like a good deal, but would make me nervous without more information.
Update on the bitter coffee! I poured vinegar in the water chamber with some water and ran it. I went to dump the vinegar water in the sink and smashed my coffee pot into the side of the sink. Welp. That coffee pot won't be making bitter coffee anymore.
I'm home with S instead of at the superbowl party we go to every year. He refused to nap all day and was sort of cranky, so I didn't want to subject the party goers to crying baby. Plus, we took him to dinner in the village last night, and I don't want to push my luck.
So, sitting on the couch drinking green juice watching the game while S finally sleeps. I'm a bit disappointed
My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.

I would go for it after checking character references. And my in home daycare has no webcam, although she does have a ton of long term families.

I have done this. Make sure when you get a new pot that you run a couple of pots of plain water to rinse the vinegar. Also, does your pot have a charcoal filter? Might need to replace it.

crawford411 I'm just going to buy a new machine. It's a cheapo $10 ($15?) one from Walmart and it's lasted 3 years or so at this point. Buying a new pot would cost the same as replacing the whole damn thing.

Sorry you are home. Eat anywhere good in the village?
