We have the cold temps to go with the snow here in Wisconsin. Feels cold because we have been spoiled until recently. It is currently 32 and feels like 21. Much better than a couple winters ago where it was -50 for a month or so.

I thought Obama's speech today was really great and I'm happy to see so many positive reactions to it. When he teared up it gave me all the feels- I'm sad that we've come to this but hopeful that things are finally going to start to change!

+1 on all of this!
Some of the dialogue has been great. But I am already seeing "no guns for crazy people" talk, which scares me. From what I have seen, many of the youth and young adults involved in mass shootings and on medication were not getting the monitoring and care they needed. They were prescribed intense drugs and not monitored appropriately. I know they are allocating $500M to increase access to mental health care, but that is less than nothing in the federal budget. I am on Lopram for anxiety and a gun owner, my anxiety is well managed and I am no risk to myself or anyone around me. I strongly believe that if everyone had access to the mental health services that I do we would see a drastic drop in suicides and other violence caused by mental health diseases or the pharmaceuticals prescribed because of them (gun related or not). It is going to set mental health care back so much if we let linking mental health to violence continue.
But there is for sure a problem, in OH you can buy a gun at a garage sale. Seriously. Totally unregistered, no way to track it to you. That is definitely scary.
TLDR: I mostly agree with everything said, but I wish there was as much of an emphasis on increasing mental health services as limiting gun ownership, it is a two edged sword.
July 2013 started TTC 7/20/2014=BFP; CP confirmed 8/1/2014 Dec 2014: Diagnosis = Unexplained IF 12/24/2014 Medicated TI (clomid)=BFN 1/22/2015: IUI #1 cancelled due to cyst 02/17/2015: IUI #2 cancelled due to another cyst 3/31/2015: IUI with Femera, 1 good follie, great sperm count = CP, my December Rainbow became an Angel

Lately H has been super into face masks. It is so funny, he was an "I don't care about my skin" kind of guy his whole life, I used to have to force him to put on sunscreen. Now he is wearing green masks! I love it though, I get to steal his products now

Work is kicking my butt this week. I thought we were suppose to ease in?
I need to buy a new foundation and I'm clueless. I normally buy $14 Ulta brand so I don't want to go too high, but I get a few bad zits when I O.
Have you tried tinted moisturizers? They make them for every kind of skin and they are a little lighter for breakout prone skin, I think. I've tried dermalogica and eve lom, both are a little expensive but they last a long time and my skin is a million times better since I switched! In a little more reasonable price, I actually tried one from target, I can't remember the brand but it had anti-pimple stuff in it and worked great, too. I want to say it was Almay or something like that.
TTC since July 2014. CP March 2015. IVF #1 March 2016, 5R, 3M, 2F with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3. CP. Surprise BFP and then CP August 2016 (prep cycle for IVF). IVF #2: zero eggs retrieved IVF #3: 6R, 5M, 5F, 3 (2 8A and 1 11A) transferred, one "B" graded embryo frozen on day 5. BFP (at home 7dp3dt, confirmed 14dp3dt with 1552 beta) and U/S at 5w5d, 2 sacs and 2 yolks!

samanthasays, MH cringes when he hears people saying no mentally ill person should be allowed to own a gun. The vast majority of people with mental illness are not dangerous, especially people who responsible take their meds. He is a mental health counselor and he already has to make the difficult decision as to whether someone is a real threat to themselves or others and needs to be reported, he absolutely does not want the added pressure of having to decide whether someone can own a gun or not. Mental health services in this country need to be more available and affordable. But mostly, mental illness needs to be less stigmatized.

This was the part I was less than thrilled with. Let's focus on registering and otherwise regulating firearms without bringing mental health into it. And separately, let's increase funding for mental health. However I don't buy the whole "they did mass shootings b/c they're mentally ill" thing and I think it's extremely harmful to everyone who struggles with mental health issues.

Um, holy crap. DCF just called us about a 2 month old girl, wanting to know if we would like to be considered for the teaming (basically, they review and compare home studies to the child's file and a team of people vote on which family they think is the best fit - here's a blog post I wrote about the process) and we said yes. I'm not sure when the teaming is taking place and I know that there are ton of families that want to be considered and the chances of us getting selected is slim, but what if we are? Holy crap, I'm nervous and excited.

Haha! I save my face masks for when DH isn't home so I don't scare the crap out of him. I like the sheet masks Sephora makes. They have a bunch of different ones and they're like $6 each. I think if you buy 4 you get the 5th one free!

I have not tried tinted moisturizer, so I will have to look around. H owns Ulta stock so he really doesn't mind if I spend too much there. I seriously just started wearing makeup like 2 years ago and I feel like every time I find something it gets discontinued.

Oh yah the masks look a little horror movie ish I have a sheet mask that has something from snails as the active ingredient. I literally think it is snail slime. MIL brought them back from Japan for me. I used one and it was actually amazing.

Ooh yeah I've heard of that! I follow a makeup artist on YouTube that tried it before. She agreed that it was amazing but I just don't know how I'd feel about having snail trails all over my face

I didn't wear my FitBit for the first few days of January and now I feel like I will never catch up.
I'm sure we'll all forget a few days over the month and it will even out. Plus, next month is a new opportunity to put us all to shame. Don't let it get you down.
I just need to do some extra laps of my building during my downtime at work. I'll catch up eventually...
