I did get a few things at the mall yesterday, so it wasn't a total fail. My mom bought this dress and cardigan outfit that I think I will use as her coming home outfit. I bought a bow to match too!
I've had a busy weekend. We closed on our new house on Friday! I haven't really mentioned our house hunt on here bc it's been such a ridiculous process (found a house a few months ago; it failed inspection miserably and was basically a money pit; we revoked our offer and started searching all over again from scratch). But it's a done deal now. We are leaving our one bedroom rental and moving into a house; Though we prob won't move in for at least another month since we've packed nothing. It will prob take at least 18 months to furnish the house (we never needed a lot of furniture for our small place and mostly used pieces from Ikea).
Yesterday one of my good friends had her baby shower. She's due in early April. My two best friends came to town for the shower and they got to see the house too. We toasted the new house (them with champagne, me with Pellegrino).
babyzebra I'm sorry those days are so trying. DD is great like 75% of the time but she has a temper similar to your DS yesterday so there are some days where I feel like I'm just constantly saying no and stop that. Those days are exhausting.
DD finally gave her first unsolicited I love you. To her dry erase board and then she kissed it... I might get one someday

DS is destroying my living room and I really don't care. Today I'm exhausted and last night I have my last fuck when finishing laundry. Eventually today if it warms up we might go outside for a little while, yesterday though my dog did too much and was limping by bedtime. He's better today but we will be taking it easy.
babyzebra yay for a good nights sleep...mine are usually terrible sleepers when we have a day like that. Is that outfit from carters? It's so cute, I'm looking for not pink girl stuff!

Today we are brunching with friends and seeing their new house (it's been 6 months and we haven't been able to coordinate schedules). DSs first babysitter will be watching all the kids as she was our friends au pair 4 years ago. DS is excited to show her how big he is now and to play with his friends. The afternoon plan is family nap time for lots of hours. DS had a rough week at school so we are hoping extra sleep today sets him up better this week. And if we all sleep, he will too, and DH and I are excited for a long nap today since he's been averaging 4-6 hours the past few weeks.

Re baby clothes- has anyone seen all the ads on Facebook for primary? They sell gender neutral solid color baby clothes. I'm super interested but it seems pricey for what it is.
It's official. Taking one mild cold, then adding walking around in the cold all day and singing karaoke for two hours, is a bad idea. I'm a hot mess today. Pity to whoever gets to sit next to my sniffly self on the train home. I'd really like to take the day off tomorrow, but I think trying to plan lessons for a sub would be more effort than just going in.

Yeah thankfully DS is a pretty great night time sleeper unless he is sick. The outfit is from Carter's. It came from one of their outlet stores. Now that you mention it, there was a ton of non-pink girl stuff in there.

I've seen a ton of these ads. Their clothes have that nice, simple look that I like, but they are way more than what I'm willing to spend for kids clothes. I have no problem finding simple, non-character or non-cutesy saying clothes from consignment stores, target, old navy, and online. I'm sure the quality of clothes is better than what I get for DS, but I just toss his clothes as he ruins them. I would hate to toss something so expensive.
We had a good day yesterday too. We hung out with ILs and 2 youngest nephews yesterday, got to show off our sonogram pics (we got 12-15 because we went back so many times)
Sorry you're not feeling well vivela, that sounds like a lot of walking and activity! DS and I walked to the park and around, only about 2 miles, for a couple hours yesterday but my lower back was really sore towards the end of the day.
Also not feeling great today, sore throat and headache, congestion. I think I will stay in bed most of day, luckily we have no other plans.

bgkc4, congrats on the new house! Between you and me and broadwaymama I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is crazy enough to buy a new house and move right before having a baby. We haven't officially started hunting yet, but IF my DH gets offered the job he's been interviewing for (fingers crossed that may happen this week) then we'll start our hunt in earnest. Our current rental lease is up June 1, so between that and a due date of June 7 I'm hoping we can make the timing work without going absolutely bonkers!
Congratulations on the house bgkc4! When we bought our house, we too were moving from a 1 bedroom apartment. Luckily that move was easy since we didn't have much stuff, but I seriously dread the next one (not anytime soon if I can help it).

DH finally got a taste of the tantrums I've been dealing with. Except we got in a bit of a fight about them because he gives in to what DD wants (or doesn't want) to avoid the tantrum. She didn't want to nap and would yell and he'd give in and stop trying. Finally I stepped in and out her down - yeah she was pissed, but surprise, asleep within 5 minutes. Barely a tantrum.
I hate feeling like I'm telling DH how to parent....but also hate that he doesn't realize by giving in to her whims, even small, make it that much harder for me when I am alone with her through the week. She's testing her boundaries and he's teaching her if she pushes enough, she'll get what she wants.
At least that's how it feels. I don't know if I'm throwing it out of proportion or something. She's only turning 2 in a couple of weeks.
cattuccino LT for commiseration. My DS is turning 2 in a few weeks also, so I think we're in exactly the same stage. I get so scared when people say that their kids were much harder at 3 than at 2!
cattuccino I could have written that word for word. My DH hates crying and tantrums so much he always gives in. I don't, because I can't.
babyzebra three was harder than two for us. At least with DD1, DD2 is 2.5 and although she can throw a tantrum with the best of them, but half the time when I say no, she responds with, "Oh, bummer." I have s feeling she may be an easier 3 yo than DD1.
broadwaymama, Yes, I've flown several times while pregnant, in the third trimester with my DS, too! Totally fine!
babyzebra, *Hugs* I hope today is better! Days/trips like that are SO HARD with a toddler! Also, I feel bad for you that sleeping in until 6 and waking up once is a good night! You must be exhausted!! I hope you take them up on the babysitting offers-you need it!
It's seriously sunny and 75 degrees here in Dallas. We had lunch with friends out on a patio after church! AMAZING!!! My DS got stuck in the "hole" part of a corn hole game board. It took my DH and friend's DH to get him out, and he lost his pants in the process. It was so funny, I didn't even help but took a picture instead. Thankfully, DS was giggling and thought it was funny. He was also so sweet in the nursery this morning...he was carrying around a baby girl doll and kept trying to put her hat back on, give her her magnetic paci, and saying, "It's okay baby." Melted my heart!
babyzebra, that outfit is so cute!! Isn't it fun to be able to buy girl things?! Although boy baby clothes are adorable also and I'm so sad to not reuse some of DS' things. ;(
bgkc4, Congrats on the house!! That's so exciting!
woodengirl07, Update us on your A/S! So exciting!!
babyzebra, cattuccino, I feel the pain! My DS will be two in 2 months...and I also get nervous when people say the tantrums get worse in the next year or so. I need to start something consistent like time out, but I've tried it a few times and he seemed confused. Ugh.
This is probably TMI and gross, but is anyone else dealing with increased discharge? I keep thinking surely I'll be bleeding. I have had a little bit of spotting (probably due to placenta prevue) but mostly clear. It freaks me out until I can get to a bathroom to check, but I know it's probably normal.

Well, I have spotting issues for sure, but yes on the extra discharge.
Thanks for the kind words txmommy14. We'll all make it through. My DS is still mostly confused by time out too. That is so sweet about your DS in the nursery and getting stuck in the corn hole! The one time I've played corn hole with DS, he liked to run up to the board and slam dunk the bean bag in! And yes, I am having very large amounts of discharge. I always get freaked out that it's blood too.
