venyia I would say that there's no harm in trying the glucola if you'd prefer that to definitely doing the finger-sticks. Its not that uncommon for people to throw up during the test; it's a LOT of sugar! But if you don't have the morning sickness factor, you could be just fine. And if it's just the fasting number you have trouble with again, I think you'd likely pass the test.
As for the sticks, I feel like they've gotten less terrible/I've gotten more used to them just over a few days. One major help was that my nurse set the lancet to a 4/7, but I figured out that I can get enough blood with a 2 1/2 which is a lot less deep.
venyia ,personally I would try the test again. Can you do the 1-hr first and only subject yourself to the 3-hr if you don't pass? The 1-hr is wayyyyy less awful than the 3-hr
I don't know. I wasn't even given an option last time. It was just the 3 hour test.
I think I will just ask my OB on my next appointment about it all. He is pretty easygoing and lets me be opinionated. LOL

Yeah, I had them set super low, but 4x a day for weeks, my fingers were just raw all the time. It obviously isn't the worst thing to deal with for the sake of a healthy kiddo, but I just don't want to have to do it for no real reason again haha
joy, dry shampoo has become necessary for my lyfe.
I went to Babies R Us this morning with my BFF who's due in 3 weeks. She needed some last minute stuff and wants the % from the registry purchases. I was so overwhelmed. I kept thinking, OMG, I'm going to need all this shit? And there are so many brands to choose from for everything. I feel like I'm going to need to do a bunch of research or something. I was proud of myself for not buying anything (Cannot believe how expensive the clothing is there!)
I also stopped and got my wedding ring set cleaned. Is anyone else having days already where your fingers are swollen? I swear they were fine when I put them on this morning and then I had a hard time getting them off at the store and there was no freakin way I was getting them back on. WTF with swelling already? I though I'd have a long time before I'd need to stop wearing them!
Yes, the store is overwhelming. It helps not to register all in one day and also doing it online can help. I am always happy to contribute to the what is necessary, what isn't conversation for baby things I see a fun thread on this down the road lol.
And I'm right there with you about the rings. My finger was irritated last week so I took my rings off. Today tried to get them on and no dice. #theswellening
Heading to the BRU trade-in to replace our expired infant seat. This is starting to feel real
Tell me more about this. Ours are expired too.
You can trade in a car seat, stroller, high chair, play yard, and i think swing/bouncy seat in exchange for a 25% off coupon good toward a regular priced baby gear item. So we once traded an old stroller for 25% off a better one, and today we traded in an expired Keyfit for c 25% off a new one! Buy buy baby will also do trade-ins during the BRU event
On my old BMB we did a whole thread about registry items and baby gear where STM+ responded to a list of questions. It was fantastic. I would be happy to help put something like that together here if the FTM's would find it helpful

I don't know your OB's protocol but I've only had the 3-hr after failing the 1-hr. I would definitely ask and hopefully save yourself unnecessary pokes!

Oooh! This sounds like fun! We don't buy much baby stuff at all. Well, this one is getting all hand-me-down items.

Lol ours too. The car seat expired but most everything else will be going through its third kid. FX nothing breaks or just plain gives up

I just need to buy a need caraeat for the almost one year old. The new one is going to use the same infant seat. Other than that, I don't think I'll be buying anything new.
Since we are talking about registry items. I have been trying to figure out what to do. Since we foster, we never had a baby shower but have a bunch of baby stuff. Crib, car seats, clothes of all sizes, and so on.
My boss wants to throw a baby shower but to me it seems weird to register for anything since we have bought so much for ourselves already. There is a chance we will need seconds of everything (continue foster plus new baby) but we won't know until probably may at the earliest.

What would you do?
I would still go ahead and have the shower. They're fun (for me anyway). Sit and figure out what you really need. A lot of times, you get clothes and diapers, etc., anyway so you can have cute new stuff without it taking up a ton of space or being useless.
Haven't caught up yet, but we had a really good day here! I actually felt really good and it was 65 so we spent a ton of time outside. We even grilled some shrimp and steak. However, I don't know how I feel about the toddler liking good food now. He ate an entire shrimp skewer that could have been mine. Hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start!
Well, and a bed for the big one. I'm not buying a third crib.
Ugh the crib vs bed thing. We don't know if DS will be ready for a bed at 22 months when the e next one gets here. Are toddler beds a good thing or waste of money?

I am thinking that we are going to buy a twin mattress and box spring instead of a toddler bed and have him close to the floor. My ds is 20 months now and spends most of the night in his crib before climbing out into my bed lol. I also figure this would be good to have another bed for dh to crash with ds.

We're going to take the front of her crib off for a couple months then go to a twin. If you don't have a convertible crib, I say twin mattress on the floor for a little while. Personally, I think toddler beds are a waste of money.

Oh yeah. We are doing another bed too. Except, I think I'll go with another full and give that to my eldest and give her current full to the soon-to-be middle.

3TM and I feel like I have so many questions. Lol. I've been cramping a ton and my doc confirmed I'm having actual contractions. Fabulous. Anyway, I know nipple stimulation can cause contractions, but is that the case this early? I still feed DS right before bed and my cramps ramp up while I'm feeding, but not every time. Thoughts?

BH right? I have been having BH on and off for a couple weeks. Feeding does cause your uterus to contract so that makes sense.

Unfortunately she said they were real contractions. It's because my body is all "didn't we just do this?!" But I'll just assume that's what's going on.

Is she not concerned at all?! I'm surprised they wouldn't take more action with real contractions.
I wouldn't bother with toddler beds, personally. My kids were both ready to be done with the crib quite early, so we put their crib mattresses on the floor for a bit to make sure they wouldn't fall. By 18 months they were sleeping in twin beds without issue. I know, however, that lots of kids love the crib and prefer or need to stay in it longer.
I have IU and have always had contractions all through my pregnancies. With the first, they worried and I had a few nights in L&D but once they decided i just have a strong/busy ute, they don't really even bat an eye anymore. As long as the contractions aren't rhythmic anyway.

I don't BF, but I am a 3TM and I am having major cramping, every day. I asked at my last appointment and actually called back again because it's so much. They weren't worried, but I am going to bring it up to my doctor at my next appt (I just talked to nurses). The amount of cramping I have is concerning to me. So no advice, but im having a similar issue.
Re: toddler beds.. I went straight from the crib to a twin bed with DD1, but she was a little older. I bought the foam bumper (below) instead of a bed rail. It goes under the fitted sheet, and I like it because it's soft. She has never fallen out.
