Good luck to everyone having babies today! I love seeing all of the birth announcements. It makes the fact that we are FINALLY in our birth month even more real.
No real spam today. I'm at work and don't want to be here. And I'm over car shopping. We have two more dealerships to hit tonight and then hopefully we'll have a new car! But I still miss my Yaris. RIP little car
WFH today since I have an OB appointment this afternoon. Trying to motivate myself to get dressed and go to yoga in an hour - I know the movement/stretching/breathing will make me feel better but even the thought is exhausting right now, and my allergy-irritated sinuses are not helping matters any.
SIL brought me all her hand me downs (her sons are 2.5 years and 17 mo, and she got her tubes tied with her last C-section, so she's done with all this baby stuff) so I need to go through that. She was extra helpful and separated out NB and 0-3mo clothes from the rest, but I'm pretty sure there's everything from a boppy to curtains in there, and I'm just not sure where to start.

Good luck today miniwheat and misshart00! Can't wait to see your birth announcements soon!
Yesterday we auditioned about 20 potential Gretls for the Sound of Music...half the parents didn't pay attention to the audition requirements (and thus wasted our time, which made this hormonal pregnant woman kinda pissy), but at least the cuteness overload helped. We've got 7 of them coming back on Wednesday to dance with our other Von Trapp Children so we can make a final decision. I'm looking forward to that.
I was shocked that two of them were named Alina. We've been going back and forth between Alina and Abigail for our own LO and had felt lately that since "Abby"s seemed to be everywhere, we were leaning toward the one less common...I'd only ever known 1 Alina, then this happens. What kind of sign is this?! lol
Good luck today, mommas! Can't wait to hear your news and oogle your LOs.
FlutterOfYoshis: I swear, I have never met a Fiona until we picked the name. And now I know three people in the past year who've had a Fiona. And met one at the care center we visited. And then another one was born at my midwife's birthing center yesterday. My husband loves the name--although he obsessively worries about the Shrek association. Our 17 yo DD said "That's such a stupid thing to worry about. She's a really strong female character." To which the 15 yo boy added "Plus, it's so badass to be named after an ogre."
Next kid I'm naming on my own and not. telling. anyone. Swearsies!

If it helps, I know some Abigails (adult and children) but no Alinas. I don't think either name is oversaturated, though, at least not where I am.

flyster Ive been having 1 cup of 1/2 decaf coffee everyday since BFP - I think you're ok to have some.
Im due TODAY and no contractions right now, was up 3-4:30 am wide awake....really hope to have this baby today. Also getting bored waiting around and its hard to entertain DD when all I want to do is lay around.
Good luck to ladies having babies today...I hope to join u!
duckker, we're going w Fiona too! That's fun, I've never met a real Fiona (and still haven't!), your LO will be the only other one I know of!
I keep getting nervous about the "Shrek" connection too, have you run into any of this since telling people you've chosen this name? It IS nice to hear your DD isn't concerned about it, seeing as it's kind of her generation that grew up with the movie.
I got a mani-pedi today and it felt glorious. Plus nice looking nails.
I'm also now the proud owner of some nursing bras. They'll at least be nice around the house because I feel like they have zero support for wearing out in the real world.

That's the attitude I'm taking (DD and DS think it's no big deal. DD said "God, no one she goes to school with will even know what that movie IS!"). I hadn't even thought about it--the only movie/TV Fiona that occurred to me was the Irish assassin from Burn Notice. Which = awesome in my book.
I haven't told ANYONE the baby's name since the kids and DH and I agreed on it, except people directly involved in her birth (midwife, doula, mom). Found out last week that he's been "running it by a few people". (He then assured me that it wasn't a big deal, because it wasn't anyone we know. As in, he's been asking strangers' opinions. Finally he admitted he's basically told all of his friends. And maybe some of mine. Argh.)
I love that name so much that I really don't care what anyone else thinks about it, but I did kind of get into the joy of having some kind of secret. I am typically a very private person (anonymousish interwebbing aside), and this pregnancy it feels like all of facebook has their head up my cervix. So it was nice to have something no one else knew... Next kid, I guess.
And I'm actually excited that there's another Fiona in the BM. That feels reassuring somehow...

I would like to let you know that that is the EXACT reason we chose Fiona as well... because she's beautiful and bad ass!
I understand how you feel completely about DH, my DH and I said we weren't going to tell anyone and then he went around dropping hints all over town and now everyone knows... I always said if someone GUESSED the name I wouldn't lie about it but I wasn't going out of my way to help anyone. I felt the same way you did, like, EVERYONE knows I'm pregnant, EVERYONE knows it's a girl... so why not make SOMETHING a surprise?!
I'm pretty stoked too that there is another Burn Notice Fi over here! And then I saw that RedGiant also has a Fiona too!
Did you and DH come up w a middle name? That was a toughy for me (I kept thinking "Apple" hahaha!)
Good luck to the ladies having their babies today!
LO had two good stretches of sleep last night which was great except my boobs are killing me! I'm feeling pretty accomplished since I was finally able to post a pic on here! Thanks seamonster!
mands1125 I've given up entirely on dressing appropriately for work. I'm in super stretchy maternity jeans (that I refuse to admit to myself are just jeggings with a full panel) and uggs because they're all I can get on my feet. Tomorrow may just end up being full on yoga pants. Sorry not sorry.

We did! And THAT one I'm keeping quiet. It was a name that we both loved as a first name, but it doesn't really work with our last name. And it's got a nice incidental nod to my mom's side of the family. Our baby will be grandchild #15 for my parents, and there are a bunch of kids whose names reference my dad's side because we grew up close to his family. My mom's dad is one nephew's first name and one nephew's middle name, but I thought for a girl to get a name from the Hart side of the tree would be nice for Mom. This is also the first birth my mom will actually be able to be present for (assuming babygirl makes it through tonight's full moon and hangs on until at least Thursday night), so I feel like it's a great connection for the two of them to have.
And yeah, Apple came up a LOT when we were trying to find the middle name. And Bologna. My boy re-worked the Oscar Meyer song in her honor. I feel like it should bug me, but I find it hilarious and sweet. Poor kid. She's doomed!

What a gorgeous baby! I love the squishy faced phase so much... Had a dream last night that I'd had my baby and she looked like a six month old. I was so happy to see her, but very sad to have missed the gooeyness of the newborn face/body.

Hahahaha, "my Fiona has a first name?" That's funny!
Our middles (yes, there are 2) are family names too. I think it's nice to give that nod to your family if it fits. I'll keep my FX that you can hold out until Thursday so your mom can be there for this one

No problem. Anything to allow more squishy baby pictures to be posted.
I got a call from the scheduler, so we are officially set up for an induction at 5pm on Monday the 9th with pitocin to start in the morning on the 10th. Had a good call with MIL about the plans if we make it to the induction for when we want them to come down (and bring us dinner after we get settled in at the hospital on Monday lol!) and then talked with my mom as well.
Just another fun day at the office for me today--appointment this afternoon, but not expecting anything dramatic. My back just started aching, which sucks. I'm thinking of going and laying down in the empty office across from me during my lunch break. Actually I'm pretty sure it's going to happen.

I'm off work today, using up some vacation time.
So far I've shampooed 3 rooms worth of carpet, deep cleaned 2 bathrooms, did some laundry, DH and I signed our updated Wills and I finished lunch. Oh and I cleaned out my car.
There's more I should do, but part of me just wants to park on the couch until it's time to pick DS from daycare in 4 hours.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
There are so many beautiful babies being born!!!
I have my 38 week appointment today and I'm very interesting in seeing what is going to happen. I'm having some new and/or returning symptoms that are very much along the lines of indicators for preeclampsia. I've also had my blood platelets monitored for a good portion of my pregnancy due to them being low and I know that can be connected as well. We shall see...

musicgirl I'd love to take a break, but part of me knows if I don't do it today it won't get done at all! I think it's part nesting, part necessity.. lol

Okay ya, I can relate to the nesting thing--I pushed it WAY too hard on Saturday (DH and I were out running for over 7 hours straight!), and then when we got home I wanted to keep going and setting stuff up at the house. Except all I could do at that point was waddle. But still, definitely take a short break before diving in again!
