I have work tonight. DD is still sleeping even though she woke up crying at 6:00 for no reason, then just face planted back to sleep. I don't question the gifts I get.
I went over to the dump to see what was going on in the J16 board there. There was a whole thread about "things I will never do". Just a whole bunch of FTMs talking about how their kids will get no screen time before 2, no child will touch an iPad, there will never be baby leaches (leashes. Auto correct. Leaving it.), and you best forget crying it out. Then just s bunch of STM+, verbally side eyeing the shit out of them.
Oh the "I will never..." LOL I have a couple that I definitely broke, mostly involving sleep habits. Because sleep trumps almost everything.
I think most of mine involve food. I was all "this kid is going to eat ALL of the organic fruits and vegetables." I broke real fast when she was screaming for some of the waffle I was eating. Fine. Damn it. Fine!

Good morning! We are headed to a new playgroup in a little while, it will be Jack's first time around babies his age so I'm interested to see how it goes.

Ah yes, we all remember how easy parenting was... before we actually became parents.

I definitely remember saying my kid will only eat healthy dinners & fruits/veggies as snacks. LOLOLOLOL @ that.

icaughtfire, it's hysterical looking back at it. I now watch my kid pick peas off her tray table, hold them out to her side, and let them just fall to floor all while maintaining eye contact with me. Then I just sigh in defeat and hand her an English muffin. I'm sure there are moms that have the energy to fight these battles/have amenable kids. That is not my circus. That is not my monkey.
I'm debating using some vacation time to leave work early to go to the DMV. Sad to use vacation time for that, but it is either that or get up at 5AM on Saturday to get there to wait in line before it opens.
I laugh at all the things I said I'd do/not do as a parent. I think my DS ate mac n cheese for two months straight once because it was one of the only things he would eat. Kids are weird.
I think it's silly to say "I'll never [do anything]". Up until a few years ago I was adamant that I would never have kids! Lol
That being said, I'd like to really try to limit screen time for my kids. SS2 is addicted to screens, plays age inappropriate games at his mother's, his eyes are terrible, etc and it really bothers me.
I am really looking forward to having a child I don't have to co-parent with someone outside our household lol
Ray I've seen a lot of great woodsy ideas on Pinterest, if you're on there
glaze woohoo to not dry heaving so far! That's a big deal!
I had to wake up 25 minutes earlier than usual today because I had a monthly work call...got woken up an hour earlier than that "early" time by DH snoring away and couldn't fall back to sleep I considered donkey kicking him in the back.

I think that's a completely reasonable and attainable goal. We definitely limit screen time and have no intention on loosening up too much on that in the future. I'm pretty sure that pre-kids I was hardcore "No screentime EVERRRRR!!!" and yeah, no. That didn't happen. So the key is to set reasonable goals and not give yourself too much grief if it doesn't work out
mcktymck That sucks. I kicked DH out of the bed for now because he's got a cold and snoring so much worse. Sleeping when pregnant is hard enough and the hormones make it dangerous for him to wake me, lol.
I was just informed by the school secretary that I was exposed to chicken pox last week from one of the kids I work with. Awesome. Not. I had it as a kid but now I have to talk to the OB and all that jazz.
glaze, I'm 90% sure the active ingredient in Mac and cheese is cocaine. That Kraft stuff is addictive.
tootsie, TBH. I'm always confused when people say their kids get no screen time. Like you don't watch tv at all? No news? There's just silence? I constantly have the news or music on. It's pretty much white noise. I think DD actively "watches" 30-60 minutes of baby TV in a day if I'm trying to clean up/whatnot around her. I'll probably have to be more selective once she gets to an age where she can focus on the tv.
ellebelle, That sucks something awful. Hopefully you're still immune.
I think the only thing Mh and I actually stuck to in the "I will never" category is yell in front of our daughter. I grew up in that sort of house and we made a lot of changes in how we spoke in general (we both have tempers) to avoid being those parents.
