Bacon in the oven. Only way evaaahhh.
You can cook a shitton at a time, drain off the grease, no stove splatter, put em in a forget it and go about cooking the rest of breakfast. Why would you do it any other way??

Also, I think it is crazy that people will not or cannot do basic home improvement things around the house. You people with the 'leveler'? Killing me. What happens when you want to hang a shelf or do other minor stuff like that? I work with a woman who won't even change a lightbulb, she will call her rental company to come do it.

Ok, so I know nothing about computers/phones/hacking but I think it's ABSURD that Apple or the FBI can't get into the one San Bernardino killers phone. They HAVE to have the technology to do this; I mean, haven't hackers been breaking into computers for year for crime evidence?

Not changing a light bulb is just crazy, unless it's a really high ceiling that is unreachable without tall ladders or something. My dad is very handy (and a little cheap) so he did things around the house all the time and I used to watch when I was little. I think it helped so I can at least do some stuff. I'm glad H is handy too.

Apple CAN get into the phone, Apple is refusing because it sets a precedent. If they allow this, where do they draw the line on allowing the government to infringe on the public's civil liberties? Now the government wants to unlock a known terrorist's phone, then it will be that they have suspicions about someone so they need to hack their phone as well. You cross into a very gray area when you allow the government to infringe on certain rights in certain situations because those "situations" will change over time.

My H is not very handy at all. But he tries so hard. I always let him try things first. But there have been a few times where we've had to call in a contractor after the fact the fix it. He just wasn't blessed with that gene.

I don't think it's that they can't, more than they don't want to because of privacy concerns. Yea, it's probably not a big deal with this terrorist, but where will it stop?

I am one of these people. I can change a lightbulb but not much else. I've been spoiled by having a super handy Dad and now a super handy husband. **hangs head in shame**

What is "the leveler"?
I can spackle a hole, hang a painting, etc. but after DIYing a ton of shit in the first year of owning our house, I lean towards a pro much more heavily. Not because we can't do it; it just sucks to do.

I hate the guy, but I'm still not convinced he's not just trolling everyone. No one can be that awful, right???
Even if he is trolling us all, it hurts my brain and makes me wince so hard that so many people like him and actually think he would make a good president. Lawd help us all!

Meh, I think this is something some people are just better at that others. I look at it like cooking- some people are great at it, some people grew up having a lot of experience cooking, some didn't, some people just hate doing it, some people suck at it. I won't judge someone on their home improvement ability if they won't judge me on my kitchen skills.
I HATE the two-party system. I wish we had REAL options.
Sorry; I don't want to make the whole UO thread about politics, but that bugs me.
This is what I always say to DH. And I absolutely don't understand how we don't have better options- we have hundreds of millions of people in our country- SURELY there has to be some strong candidates out there somewhere?!
pinkcat, I've also heard people saying how he wants the best for everyone, that he listens to people, and that he actually cares. That sounds like a great candidate, but you are not describing Donald Trump.
I don't mind paying taxes. This is definitely a UO with my husband. I do believe they are "the price we pay to live in a civilized society" (quote credit to Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr, I just had to Google that). I would like it if they were better managed by our govt, but I think paying into a common pot so that the services and securities we share are improved and maintained is a good thing.

I don't know how to do most basic home improvement. I also know absolutely nothing about my car, how to change a flat tire or how to even mow my yard. I've never needed the skill so I never learned. If the time comes, I'll Google it. Until then, H can keep on keeping all handling all the stuff. He's good at it.

You mean you actually went to see the movie, and you were not a fan by the end?
I mean, I walked in ready to snark at the entire thing, but damn if I didn't walk away a convert. I am impressed.
I liked some of it (Xmen references & the fact that Ryan Reynolds was in it). But I can't really put my finger on it why I didn't like it as a whole.
My theater experience sucked so maybe that has something to do with it. The people behind us where chugging hard liquor and I had to smell it the whole movie. Plus DH was REALLY not a fan and was huffing and puffing the whole time. Annoying.

I can't go into too much detail but I've taken classes about this problem (it's a HUGE problem for prosecuting child pornography/child exploitation cases) - the new operating systems are so secure that the old ways to "crack" them no longer work, and the last thing LE wants to do is wipe the phone during the process of trying to obtain evidence. I understand the privacy interests, but as someone trying to prosecute crimes it is very frustrating.
