Hey ladies, I don't know about any of you but I've been feeling like we needed some new threads instead of use the daily randoms. I get lost in the randoms and sometimes I want to look back at something and I can't remember what day it is, etc...
SO...one topic I know we've all had some questions on is babywearing. Types of carriers, best practices, etc... Also I know some of us (paging Sparkly) have more experience and tips to share..
So let's start with a little general survey and we can kick things off from there...
1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have?
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting?
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns?
Feel free to add pics to help explain techniques/ ask questions!

1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? I have a SollyBabyWrap, a Sakura Bloom Ring Sling and a Tula SSC.
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? Usually everyday, definitely in the mornings to keep my hands free so I can get DD up and out of bed/breakfast etc...and it helps DS get a morning nap in. I usually use RS or wrap in the house. Also when we I take DD out of the house to the library or the little gym and I need to chase her around, I usually use my Tula with infant insert.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns??
I feel way better about it this time around. I also thing it's more necessary for me to handle 2u2 by babywearing.
I found the RS to be the most difficult to figure out. There definitely is a learning curve and I'm still not sure I have the rings placed in the proper spot. I feel like DS's head is just too close to them and sometimes hits into them and that can't feel good, but it happens every time.
1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? I have a Tula and a K'tan.
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? Right now babywearing when DD is crying/wants to be held and I need to be hands free (usually in the mornings to get breakfast going) sometimes throughout the day I'll wear her, at home it's usually in the ktan. Next week I plan on trying the Tula when we go to a gym class for DS.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns? I feel like I'm not very good at it yet. I have an xs and a small ktan and I don't think either size is right (I need a size somewhere in between, DD's head doesn't seem very supported in the small). I'm hoping as she gets a little older with more neck/head control it'll be a little better.
Good idea surfmama106 1) I have an ergo and a solly wrap, although these RSs are striking my fancy... 2) pretty much daily at this point. I practice a bit in the house but mostly wear her in the barn. Amounts to a few hrs a day. 3)feeling totally insecure about the position she is in, in the carriers. Is she too smushy, too low, too high, are her legs doing the right thing, am I going to deform my child by doing this wrong. I did have an exciting moment a week ago when I nursed her in the ergo. And wearing her legs out in the solly was a distinct improvement.
1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? Solly wrap, moby wrap, infinatino carrier
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? I use the solly wrap once a day at home while playing with DD1. If I go to a friends house for a play date for DD1, I'll wear DD2.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns? I love the solly wrap. It's so much easier/lightweight/comfortable than the moby. I want to use it even more than I already do. The only part that I'm not great at is putting DD1 in. I feel like I'm squishing her.

1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? I have a Solly Baby stretchy wrap, both standard and toddler size half wrap conversion Tulas, Sakura Bloom ring slings in both linen and silk, and woven wraps in various sizes.
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? Usually at least once or twice a day, mostly around the house, when I'm trying to cook, clean, or something else that requires two hands and DD2 doesn't want to be put down. Once she is a bit bigger, and it's not so cold, I will wear her more for errands and things. I find it easier to leave her in the infant seat right now, but I always have a sling with me just in case I end up needing/wanting to wear her while out.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns? Good. I didn't start wearing DD1 consistently until she was older, so dealing with a floppy baby with little head control has been a new thing. She often resists going into the wrap or sling, especially during adjustments, and requires a lot of walking, bouncing, shushing, etc. to settle down in there, which can be frustrating. A lot of times I really want to throw her up quick and she fights it, so I have to be patient with her. I'm also pretty new to wrapping (with wovens) and trying to get a better handle on that. I love the security and support when I get it right, but that's the challenge. As with everything, it just takes time and practice.
Here are some pics:
Newborn carry (with legs in) - Sakura Bloom Simple Silk Ring Sing
Making dinner with baby in the Solly
Front Wrap Cross Carry in a woven wrap - Kindred Montauk Licorice size 5
Kangaroo Carry in a woven (not done well, this was our first attempt) - Pavo Frost MA size 4
I have an Ergo (with infant insert) and a homemade wrap similar to the Moby.
I used both with DS1, but so far with DS2 I've only used the wrap. I have worn him a few times at home when I needed to be hands free. Otherwise, I mostly wear him when grocery shopping or going to activities for DS1.
I plan to get the ergo out soon, as it was my favorite with DS1. I have just felt like DS2 is still a bit too small, even with the infant insert.

I am brand new to this. I have the Solly and I find it more difficult than helpful. The few times I've worn it around the house I just don't feel like it's wrapped correctly. He was quiet in it so that's encouraging.
I have a Maya ring sling on the way. I'll give that a try and if it ends up going the way of the Solly I will send it back.
I feel like a SSC may be more my speed. The less I have to do to put it on might be better. I'm thinking of a Beco Gemini or a Tula. Anyone have an opinion on which is better?
There isn't a babywearing group or boutique store in my area to try things on.
silverspoon I had a Beco Gemini and it is a good carrier. I love my Tulas though. I find them much more comfortable for long term wear. The base is wider too, and the back higher I think, so it's more supportive to the baby, IMO anyway. It's seems more "ergonomically correct" for all involved. Beco is still a great carrier with lots of options. I would recommend both but I'm all about my Tula. It is my favorite for traveling. I highly recommend wrap conversion if you have the budget for it. Best place to get them is on BST pages on FB because stockings are crazy hard to score.
1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? I have a Happy wrap (stretchy) and a Girasol.
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? All the time. I wear DD when we are out of the house and I don't have the car. I also wear her during her witching hour at night to keep the peace. I wore DS ALL THE TIME until I was quite pregnant but haven't tried since.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/ successes/ questions/ concerns? I love it!! I wish I could wear them both, but I feel like DS might be too big now (28lbs). I want to get better at back-carries but I'm too chicken while she is this small.

I have a Moby (from DS), ergo and Solly Baby.
The Moby is way to thick and DS and I roasted when I used that so I probably won't use it this go round (any one in need of one??). I liked the ergo once DS was big enough for it (never got the infant insert). I'm loving the Solly Baby and am using it daily with DD.
I am enjoying baby wearing much more this time than I did with DS but then I probably didn't need to do it as much then as I do now that I have 2 kids.
I would buy a Tula in a heartbeat if I could justify another carrier. The Ergo is fine, and I've made it two years carrying DD in it, but the Tula is just more comfortable and have much cuter fabrics.
I will be upgrading to a Tula Toddler once this guy is big enough.
This.
I already have an Ergo, but if I was in need of a new carrier I would definitely go with a Tula for the same reasons.
I really can't justify buying another SSC, even though I was just browsing the Tula website yesterday...

I also think the straps of the Tula are generally speaking softer/cushier/more comfortable. But they are basically the same thing. And Tula has just the cutest prints ever! Here is me trying out my Tula the first day...
I've since gotten the infant insert and DS is so much more secure and I feel way more comfortable about using it and not messing up his spine/head etc... Also now I can go for walks with DD in the stroller and him in the Tula.
You guise! You sell your old carriers when you buy the new ones! Babywearing Swap and Babywearing on a Budget on FB. I sold Moby, K'tan, Beco, and my original RS on there. I also BST wraps and slings all the time.

So you are telling me to sell my ergo and Moby and buy a Tula, right??

I have my moby from DD1 never used it and a very old Bjorn that is the old style used 3 or 4 times. Trying moby again. Please tell me how this looks other than her refusing to lay her head sideways. And of course DD1.
1. What types of babywearing carriers do you have? I have the boba 4g and love it but don't have anything else to compare to.
2. How often do you babywear and in what setting? I wear her quite frequently especially during the day when she doesn't want to be set down but I need to get chores done. I also like to wear her when we go shopping but haven't as much as I'd like as we are in MN and I hate bringing the car seat in to the store and then putting her in the carrier, when it's really cold out I wouldn't feel comfortable putting her in it outside.
3. How are you feeling about babywearing in general? Problems/successes/questions/concerns?
I feel ok. I want to get some sort of wrap but don't know where to begin, I'm new to baby wearing I didn't have anything with DS.
