surfmama106 here we are in the Girasol in a FWCC (used a burp cloth to make a small neck roll)
This wrap is thin so it's easier to handle as a newbie, but I don't feel like it's as soft or cushy as I would like. I thought I did a good wrap job this time but my back is already hurting after 10-15 minutes bouncing on the yoga ball with her.
Is there such thing as a water friendly carrier or sling? Thinking ahead for how I'm going to handle both of the little kids at the pool this summer.
I think there are water resistant ones, not sure what's it's called, but I'll most likely just use a stretchy wrap (Solly) to watch DD in the kiddie pool/and at the beach. I can't imagine how hot it would be in anything else.

I wish I had one of the experts here to help me wrap my moby on me so I can see what I'm doing wrong. Wore it to the store last night and some of it felt too loose, the x in the back ended up at my neck, and baby's head wouldn't stay sideways.
@allthigssparkly LOVE that!! Also I feel like we need a pic of your stash it HAS to be AMAZING!
This is the wrap stash I hoarded for DD2. I don't have a pic of my whole stash of all carriers ATM. My only regret is that I sold the first wrap I ever bought and haven't found something to replace it yet - mainly because I need to sell something to have funds to buy and nothing I have is moving. I need something pink in there, badly.
ETA: I have only tried the top four wraps with her. The bottom two are a size 6 and 7 which is a lot of wrap for me and a teeny baby. Also the 6 I bought new and it's kind of beastly. I'm hoping I can sell that for something else soon.

If you dont mind me asking what size are you IRL? I'm 5'7" currently 160, but usually 145. I know I should be a base size 6, but it seems like a lot of material and I'm not really sure if do all the crazy wraps that you'd need all that fabric for? I am going to a babywearing info meeting next week so I'm going to check it all out. Seriously love all of those wovens, gorgeous!!
surfmama106, I am 5'5" and around 150-ish right now. My normal weight is closer to 130-135. I can use 5 as a base and just end up with shorter tails. My Gira and Kindred (rainbow and polka dot wraps) are 5s and I can do FWCC with those right now. I can also do the kangaroo with the 3 and I think it's usually base -2 for that carry.
Your base is the size you need to do FWCC (front wrap cross carry), which is kind of the simplest/standard front carry. You could go with a shorter wrap and just learn different carries but I would maybe ask a babywearing educator for their opinion.
surfmama106 , I'm 5'7" too. I got my base size 6 when DS was 7mos and I was 140lbs. It would be huge for DD for the next little while, but is entirely necessary for wearing DS (now 28lbs and me now 150).
And because I'm being a PW... I really want a rainbow Girasol. Mine is a white and charcoal herringbone because it was bought for a somber occasion. I want something tutti-fruti!
I should probably learn some new wraps I can do with a shorter wrap to justify the purchase. Or learn to wrap the two of them together and get a long one.

I got my Tula yesterday. Yay! I went with the Forest House print and I love it.
Question: When I have dd2 in the infant insert, she pushes her legs down so they aren't in the M position any longer. Her bum is definitely not below her knees. Also, she almost tries pushing herself up like she wants to stand by bracing her feet on the waist band. Is this normal? Any suggestions? She's still way too little and floppy to go without the insert, buy the insert doesn't seem quite right, either.

When you say "pushes her legs down" do you mean like straightens them? I can't picture what you're saying.
bunnyfungo omg please spam all the wrap spam. And yes I am in TPS! I don't post a lot because I'm such a newb. I was/am really intimidated by wovens but I want to learn because sooooo pretty! I'm used ring slings a lot with DD1 but there are limitations with those and it being a one shoulder carry all the time.
I fell in love with Pavo first and I also like Kindred wraps but I really don't know any other brands. I have Frost MA. I kind of want Candy Cane too because I love pink. All the frosts are gorgeous actually.
Don't judge my wrap job - both girls were screaming while I attempted this - but I swear Frost has all the sleepy dust. DD2 was out before I finished wrapping the first time.
What is the last wrap you posted? I love it! (Well all of them but that one in particular)

Yes, straightens them, but kind of forcefully so she's pushing them down into the waistband.

Sparkly The last wrap is actually a tablecloth shorty. It's a Mahogany tablecloth (faux pfau). I got it off the budget swap for like $20 lol. It's my beater wrap that I keep in the car.
I finally just watched this video and it got me using the maya wrap pretty comfortably! A little more practice will help, too, but we are figuring it out! And I have watched A LOT of videos about this...
Also, Sparkly, PM me if you ever want to do a temp trade. I'd love to try your Keshi
Will do! You're going to have to elaborate on your stash so I know what I want to try Keshi is a 7 so I'm not really using it ATM. I tried to trade down at one point but ended up holding on to it and now it's hard to let go since MV has gone down a lot.

You might hate my stash. I love long wraps.
Mahogany TC shorty 3 Girasol Sarah 6 Girasol Chi Chi Red 6 Tekhni Oly Pewter 7 Pavo Frost Mags 6 Pavo Gotham PPA 7
That's all I have right now. I think. I would suggest you trying the Tekhni if you've never tried repreve, but if you hate 7s it's kind of a beast. But the cush is amazing.

I haven't! I would love to try, honestly just don't know what to do with 7s! I don't wear DD1 anymore and I feel like 7 is a lot of wrap for a newborn? I mean, I probably could try wear DD1 again now, but I stopped while pregnant because she wasn't patient enough with me learning to wrap and slings weren't comfortable after a certain point - also I had SPD.

Ha. I just love long tails and fancy finishes. I do kangaroo with my J16 baby in a 7. I also ruck with her, but if you're new to wrapping you probably won't want to do any back carries for awhile.

I love all your finishes! Someday I will learn (I hope)! Definitely not ready to back carry the little one at this point, but hopefully not too far off.
