If you feed baby every 3 hours are you counting from start to start? Or end to start? If start to start how does that work when baby just cluster feeds for 2-3 hours?
Tips for sore nipples? I bought some gel packs today. Anything else? They aren't cracked or bleeding just really sore.

You are supposed to count start to start. With cluster feeding I think cut yourself a break, they usually do that to gear up for a long sleep. So maybe from the last clustering if you are paying attention, a little extra time once during the day isn't going to hurt baby though.

I count start to start. With cluster feeding I would stop timing until it's over and then maybe go 2.5 hours till the next feed instead of 3. Medela makes nipple shells that go on like a breast pad and hold your shirt/bra away from your nipple to give you some relief. I found that I tend to leak really bad with them though, but they help a lot. Those and nipple cream and then I switch it up and use gel pads for a day or two. I've had some really bad soreness lately where I feel almost bruised, and a combo of this seems to help.

Spend some time topless. Carry a cloth for leaks and just spend 20-30 minutes at a time with a light bathrobe or button shirt open so nothing is touching.
Definitely let things air out. This is why I sleep topless, and it's really helped with soreness
Baby is rejecting my boobs because I put a little lanolin on my nipples. Between pumping and feeding they were sore. Sigh.
I've had to supplement with some formula and pumped colostrum because of her low blood sugar, so she's eating at least and I'm just concerned about her getting fed. But I'm feeling a bit worried that she's going to end up not wanting to breastfeed.

What about coconut oil or colostrum instead of lanolin? Are you still in the hospital? If you are I'd ask the lactation consultant for alternatives to help your sore nipples. Get all the help you can while there even if you have to fight for it.

I'm still here. We are leaving today, thank goodness. I wiped off the lanolin and used colostrum but I imagine it'll be better when we are home and I can use either my EMAB nipple butter stuff or coconut oil.
We saw their LC yesterday and I didn't love her (I was really exhausted and she was a bit more aggressive than I could handle being so tired) so I'm planning to take advantage of the one at the pedi's office.

What state do you live in again? Im really pissed off for you between all the stuff you said in the other threads as well. I cannot believe how poorly they managed your care. Like i want to riot!

This is a DC hospital. We already decided that I will change OB practices if we have a second baby at some point so that I can deliver at a Virginia hospital.
Oh, and currently there's a power outage here so the hospital is running on emergency power. It's a comedy of errors. Thank goodness the OR team was so good at their jobs!
And I'm actually being pretty chill- I admittedly did cry when the night tech last night said she couldn't give J a bath after the day nurses had punted it and said the night tech would do it, but otherwise I haven't been anything but friendly and polite to the staff.
But man. It's not easy. Especially after the (kind of traumatic) csection.

You are a much stronger lady than I am. Im so glad you're getting the hell out of there today.

katespade I'm so sorry your labor/recovery experience has been so shitty. You are awesome for not completely losing it with the hospital staff. I hope things start to look up once you are home!
Do you guys worry about baby suffocating while on your boob?
I push down on it above her nose so she can breathe. It's probably fine but makes me feel better to do it.
the nurse yesterday told me baby will move if they can't breath. I asked because the one position she recommended (laid back belly to belly) baby's face is like jammed into the boob.
Y'all, W has fed every hour on the hour and when/if he sleeps, he refuses to be put done. I'm pretty sure I took a worl record shower. My poor nipples are so sore. I think I may cry if this continues.
I have never felt more incapable in my whole life.
She wont latch for long, she falls asleep and can't be stirred. So I put her down in the pnp and she hollers. I gave her some of the supplement formula, she spits it all up.
I have so much laundry tomorrow, and I'm so tired. And don't know how to make her happy.
