Hugs katespade. I don't have any BF'ing advice. On the bottle side, she may be eating it too fast. Hold her upright to feed her (paced feeding), and burp after an ounce or less. She might have an air bubble.
Hugs katespade. I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. When you are feeding her, get her completely undressed, and tickle her feet if she starts to dose off. You can also try a cool wet washcloth, though I've never done that myself so I can't vouch for how well it works. Also, like mom2boxers said, make sure you are doing paced feedings with the bottle.
You can also post over on the BF board for more suggestions. They are very helpful and full of knowledge.
Do you have anyone who can come over and help with laundry and chores? Or even to sit with LO so you can get some sleep?
My milk appears to have come in so that's good. She was happy to eat this morning! I'm really hopeful the pedi will tell me tomorrow that I can just breastfeed and stop the supplement. I ended up feeding her a bit of formula around 4am and sticking her in the swing so we could both get a little nap. It was glorious.
My H is here to help with stuff. He's just... Well, he's having a hard time adjusting. I'm being patient with it because really, I'm just focused on J. But he acknowledged this morning that he needs to do better and he feels guilty, so he's on laundry and chore duty today.
I tried using my pump in the middle of the night and it was not working well. I ended up just hand expressing and mixing that in with the bit of formula I gave her. I'm going to order a hand pump from Amazon prime today so that I have that on hand.
Thanks for the guidance. I cried a little bit to J last night that I knew it would be hard and it was. She's so perfect and sweet.
I have never felt more incapable in my whole life.
She wont latch for long, she falls asleep and can't be stirred. So I put her down in the pnp and she hollers. I gave her some of the supplement formula, she spits it all up.
I have so much laundry tomorrow, and I'm so tired. And don't know how to make her happy.
DD does all of this too. It's not you and it will pass, honest. I put DD down on the bed beside me or on my lap so she's right there when she wakes up to feed next soon after and only attempt to put her down properly once she seems to be done for good with food. It's a work in progress.
You're still in early days so can you do the laundry in stages? Separate it, take a break, first load in, break, throw in dryer, break, next load in? LO will be fine for a minute in the PNP or whatever sitting device you have while you do.
Edit: just saw you have H to help now too, that's great
Have H drop the laundry off for bundle service somewhere and then y'all both rest today! *hugs*
Y'all, W has fed every hour on the hour and when/if he sleeps, he refuses to be put done. I'm pretty sure I took a worl record shower. My poor nipples are so sore. I think I may cry if this continues.
It will end, hang in there! It's just a growth spurt. I've been putting a hot water bottle against my nips after some feedings, it helps somewhat.

The hand pump has done wonders for me, I hope it works for you too! FX you get the ok to just breastfeed

I feel like I'm finally coming out of the haze of new motherhood and can interact with the world again!
Question: my left nipple is crazy cracked. My mom suggested only pumping on that side for a day to give the nipple a chance to heal. What does M16 say? We are two weeks tomorrow of EBF.
We are having a really hard time with the left boob. I just shoot milk everywhere and she just latches and unlatches and then screams. I am going to go to the other BF group this week to see if the LC has any suggestions. It's so hard to feed her on that side.

I find that putting some coconut oil on my nips soothes them. My nips are pretty beat up, too, between nursing and pumping after every feeding!

I did that when DS was about a week old. I pumped for about 36 hours and either spoon or syringe fed him. I can't remember which. It was still hard, but it didn't hurt as bad and they healed up enough that I could nurse again. Coconut oil on the pump flange helps a ton! And some sort of nipple cream afterward still.

I've heard of people stimulating a let down first and releasing some milk before latching baby on so she doesn't get the milk as fast. Also look up laid back nursing position. I think that helps the milk not shoot out as fast.
Oh man. J was being fussy and wouldn't take more than one side so I pumped a bit to lessen the engorgement. I took a nap and woke up with painfully hard boobs. I just pumped again and got nearly 4 ounces total out of the two.
I actually am thinking pumping is less stressful than trying to get her to latch, so I may end up being an EP mom. Which is totally fine.

Ya we have switched to exclusively side lying on that side for now... I/we have a really hard time figuring out laid back. I'm not really sure about the second one, I read that too but I can't really figure it out. Also it's not just at first it's pretty much until the boob is like half empty and then it's ok. It's been a really frustrating couple of days between that and a growth spurt (which I think is finished tonight was way less cluster-y). She basically didn't cry at all for the first 3.5 weeks and now she is so fussy while she eats and gassy from all extra air. Hopefully the LC has some good tips and can show us some stuff, sometimes a lot of the tips are easier said than done without someone to show/help you.

I have to do this. I have a terribly forceful letdown and I used to practically drown DS or milk would shoot across the room. Unfortunately, different positions didn't help much in my case. And massaging beforehand woould piss off DS even more. So when I feel the sensation of a letdown, I pull DS off and catch it in a burp cloth until it dies down and then relatch. It's a pain, but it has helped and DS has sucked enough just to stop being impatient. Just recently I've noticed my letdown isn't as much so I'm hoping my boobs and baby are settling down into more of a schedule/routine.

I'm having a new wave of anxiety that M isn't eating enough now. We have another weigh in tomorrow to see if he's reached his birthweight. Last Monday he just needed 1.2 oz. COME ON 1.3 OZ!

Anxiety over weight gain sucks! I'm sorry. Good luck tomorrow. I'm feeling the same way. Weigh in for us is Wednesday.
When do you guys pull the plug on comfort nursing? I just broke his latch after a 45 minute session and now I feel like "what if he still needed more?!" Even tho his sucking hadn't been accompanied with swallows for quite some time...

I'm terrified to see what her weight is going to be in a few hours when we go to her first pedi appointment. She's eating but she gets so sleepy and I have no clue what I'm doing, so I just hope she hasn't lost a ton.
Just got out if the hospital yesterday after a hellish labor, birth story to follow. Had to supplement due to jaundice oh.. And BC I can't pee so drinking enough fluid is hard. Yep I have a catheter... Anyway, have been trying to pump but failing miserably. Ugh. I suck at this moment thing. Why is there milk in one boob but not the other? It's so swollen!

For me I give her five minutes. If I don't she ingests too much milk and then there is so much spit up. We go through so many bibs.
