We ran errands and J slept for 3 hours. Close to 4, but the LC yesterday said if she's sleepy, let her sleep up to 4 hours.
Great for baby and parents. Bad for mamas boobs. I pulled off my sweater and found my tank had a huge wet spot. I wet through a bamboobie pad (like it was SOPPING), my nursing bra and through my tank top. Good grief.
Thrush or sore nipple? That's what I have been asking Dr.Google. Ugh. Her mouth looks ok, I'm just sore on left side and have been try to feed her on the right. I hand expressed almost 2 oz from the left in hopes ill just give that side a rest, smothered it in lanolin and hope for relief. But do I call dr or wait until my appt Tues? Anyone have any experience with thrush?
TheCoffeeNinja are we boob twins? Mine settled to an F as well, however, my nursing bra looks like I wear a push up. I other words, I pop out of it. It's also not the most comfy thing I the world. What kind of bra do you use?

DS2 and I had thrush. My nipples were bright red and purple and hurt all the time. Latching was unbearable. I didn't really see any white on them, but DS's mouth was white, especially his tongue. We actually battled it for quite awhile since we both had it so badly.

I don't have an answer but I asked the lc about thrush earlier this week. A big thing is keeping your nipples dry. So instead of using bm to heal them after a feeding you should wipe your self clean with a wadh cloth after each feed and then let them air dry. LO can not have any signs of thrush though and you still have it. Could it be a clogged duct? I remember having one with dd1 and it hurt every time she nursed on that side until it resolved.

Mine is from HotMilk and is pretty comfy. I got the 32 band instead of my usual 30 and it fits comfortably on one of the middle settings (6 rows of loops so plenty of room for manoeuvre). Google coupons if you go to order - they usually have 15-20% ones floating about that work outside the category they're listed for.

Thanks ladies, i think its a sore nipple and a poor latch on that side. Gave lefty some rest and feels better.
This morning I decided to pump just on the side LO had taken after the feed after yesterday did not go well all day (not sure if it was related to pumping or if it was just a fussy day). But I stopped at an ounce like the LC said and then when I poured it into the storage bag, the storage bag filled to 2 oz. WTF?! Now I'm not sure what I did... Is the bag wrong? Or the bottle? Can I not read the lines on the medela bottle thing? No wonder LO was pissed the boob was taking forever to refill, if I fully fed her and then took another 2 oz off...

I always go by the bottle. I feel like the measurements on the bags can be a little misleading.

jewel441 if the bag isn't filled more it won't flatten out at the bottom and have it look like there is more than what there actually is. So go by bottle
NIP for the first time today! Woo! Felt totally comfortable (although it wasn't very crowded where I was or anything, but LO did great without the pillow). Feeling proud and free to be out longer if needed!
Doc is pretty sure Ethan's jaundice is breast milk jaundice so he's been strictly formula fed since wed. Kinda sad that my milk is making him sick but I'm still pumping and we can hopefully go back after his 2 week apt.
Eta: he's sleeping and I'm pumping which is sad to me. I'm wasting good sleeping time!

Huh? Jaundice is jaundice, right? Has E had phototherapy? I've just never heard a doctor tell anyone to formula feed instead of breastfeed to handle jaundice. This seems wrong. Phototherapy will get rid of the billirubin, as well as him eating and pooping it out.

There is such a thing as bm jaundice. I'm not really sure how it works but I've heard of it before

I don't question that it's a thing, I question how her doc is handling it. I just looked it up and it seems that discontinuing breastfeeding is unnecessary and unadvisable.

ETA: Not trying to be snarky, just concerned for xxkimmy8xx.
I guess there is a type of jaundice that peaks later after day 7 (E's was day 8) where the proteins in BM prevent breakdown of bilirubin. Once we stopped bfing his numbers dropped from 15.4 to 10 in 3 days. The Dr. Really liked the progress so we're going to wait till Wednesday. Assuming all is good well go back to the boob. I still latch him so he keeps the muscle memory. I mean, I bet I could keep bfing based on these articles, but the progress has been so good! I don't want to chance it. You know?

What does it mean when lo won't stay latched? She keeps popping off and on. She doesn't seem upset by it but it's really annoying and then her latch sucks.

Not sure, but DD does this too. She generally does it just as a letdown happens, so I'm guessing it's to pace things a bit so she doesn't choke? It super sucks at night when trying to get her to nurse and go back to sleep though :/

Gas? Needs to burp? Mine does that when she needs to burp, fart, or poop.

It could be a let down thing, or not getting a good seal all the way around. J was doing this when we met with an LC, and those were the 2 things she mentioned - she looked specifically at the seal he had with his bottom lip.
Anyone else's kid get hiccups after every time they eat? Mine does. Annoying.
And heaven forbid I don't sit her up fast enough to burp. She started hiccuping and puked with each hiccup, at least 5 times. More annoying.
Not hiccups but she pukes every time and then frantically wants more and then pukes again. I really hope her stomach gets with the program soon.
When K starts doing this I have her wait and calm down for about 5 minutes. That way the signal can get from her stomach to her brain that she ate. If I don't it's a puke marathon for the next 20 minutes because she overate.
