zombiesquad- Is she also an Evelyn? Also, thank you for that. I have been worried and trying to figure out how to combat the forceful letdowns. Did you try the leaning back nursing? I try but it's just not comfortable

songbirdsinging55, yep, she's an Evelyn. She's our busy body soon-to-be three year old and I've realized I've forgotten so much from when she was a baby.
If I'm on the couch or in bed, I do lean back sometimes and it definitely helps with the letdown issue. But for MOTN feedings, I'm in a glider so it's not really conducive to leaning back so that's when I make sure I gave a burp cloth handy to shield him from a milk shower.

Hey guys, I have been MIA lately. I am having some trouble with Evie nursing. She has been spitting up after every feed and sometimes it even comes out of her nose. She also grunts and makes loud noises before spitting up. Sometimes she gasps for air as she spits up. Which is scary in the middle of the night. She is gaining alot of weight. She is up 2lbs since birth. I also have forceful letdowns and she sometimes drinks too fast and gags. I am going to call the pediatrician tomorrow and get some info but was hoping someone could offer advice.
We're living this too. I am not sure about my let down but E spits up almost every feed sometimes multiple ( as in half a dozen or more) times. She is also gaining like mad and was up 2 lbs in 2 weeks (from take home weight). I don't have a lot of advice though. I burp her a lot and try to keep her sitting up a bit after feeding.

The spit up + grunting makes me wonder if it's reflux. Grunting was a tell tale sign for us with DS. Definitely being up the grunting part to the doctor.
I have lopsided breast. The left is much bigger than the right. The right is not giving much milk. It always gave me less but now it's giving me almost nothing. When I pump I get drops. I'm still trying to offer it to LO when he latches on but by the first 5-8min he refuses it.

We're in the same boat. She spits up a lot, and about once a week or so will spit up huge amounts- basically throwing up, it keeps coming up in waves. She gave us a big scare at 17 days old when we thought she was choking. The pediatrician said that since she's not in pain and is gaining weight then it's probably not reflux.

Yesterday E was nursing while I was trying to nap. She ended up spitting up probably 10+ times in a row after. I felt so bad because she started crying and I didn't know how to help because nursing would calm her but then make her puke more. It sucks. My understanding is also like your pedi said. Hopefully they out grow it soon!
K slept 10-5:30, then 5:45-after 8:30. My boobs were not leaking or engorged at all, and I find that really strange, since I only do 1 side per feeding and each boob would have gone over 9 hours without feeding. They were a little full, but from experience I expected to be in pain the first few times STTN until it became a regular thing. K has also been eating less than every 2 hours during the day with the 6 week growth spurt.
I don't get it. I hope I don't have a supply issue :/
Last night we went out to a formal dinner for H's work, and I was dying to pump after 6 hours, so I guess I'm fine. My boobs were used to her cluster feeding before bedtime!
So LO does not spit up very often, a little here and there and every once in awhile a big one if she had eaten a lot. So LO ate so much today so I should have known it was coming, but we were rocking to bed. Already in PJs and swaddle and she EXPLODED. Everywhere and it got in my mouth. Ewwwwww. I smell and taste like sour milk

Oh man. DS1 once puked in H's mouth, but that was his fault and I warned him since he was holding him overhead. So nasty.
We had a colossal poopsplosion yesterday. K's first, and the worst one I've ever witnessed of all 3 kids. Orange.poop.EVERYWHERE.
MH keeps trying to get me to sell my BM to meatheads at the gym. Apparently they pay big bucks for this stuff at GNC?
So weird!!! But I need to tell H this. He always says how come they don't make human cheese? (Like cheese from BM) He means it as its weird that we drink cows milk...

Actually, there might be people who do (I guess if you have enough extra to do so).
***TMI WARNING***
I recently learned that there are people who make their own yogurt from bacteria they gather from their vagina, so I'm sure people have done the cheese-making too.

Yeah, remember that thread we had a while back about some woman making bread with her vag yeast? Gross.
Has anyone tried their breast milk? FFTC - I tried mine and it tastes exactly like melted ice cream. Which makes me wonder if it would be delicious as ice cream, rosetyler72, hahaha! Idk if I could ever eat someone else's boob ice cream, tho...

I can't bring myself to taste mine, but H has... he says it tastes like honey.

I hold my breath every time MH holds K over his head for this very reason.

Does anyone only feed on one side a feeding? I think I need to start trying this. We saw a health nurse yesterday for a weight check and she thinks E is getting too much foremilk. Today I've been trying just putting her back on the one breast repeatedly in one feeding. If you do this can you explain how you do it? Like time wise if lo wants to eat again within what time frame do you offer the other breast?

I almost always feed just one side. LO usually unlatches or falls asleep on the original breast. Very occasionally she will "drain" that breast (especially if I've block fed her on one side for awhile) and then want the other boob. If she's hungry again within the hour, I put her back on the same breast. If it's been more than an hour and/or I've forgotten what breast I used last, I figure it's time to try the other boob and I just feel for which one is fuller.

I also do what adorebel does. Generally one feeding per side but she has become such a snacker so I usually do a 2 hour

sunshineshades I offer one side per feeding. I distinguish a feeding as a 15-20 minute period of time from when she first starts eating. If she pulls off, she typically needs to burp or is gassy, so we take a couple minutes if needed and she goes right back on that same side until she's done. I still track all her feedings on Baby Tracker so I always know which side I've fed her on last and for how long so I can keep things even. I'm neurotic like that.

This is me too. I like tracking it so I don't forget (my memory is awfully short lately lol)
