Ummmm yeah. I haven't want to say anything because I realize that my LO is probably a special snowflake magical unicorn. Last night she went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 6am. I mean she'll fuss for a bit before that but isn't really awake. I really think the routine helps and of course a full belly and a warm baby. Growth spurt days are NOT like this at all and im up 2-3x per night.
The downfall is that my boobs are beyond confused.
Can you elaborate on your confused boobs? Because I have been waking LO every night to eat and I'm wondering when it's ok for her and for my milk supply to let her wake us. My guess is that she would go 5-6 hours, but our pedi wants us to wait until she's 5 or 6 weeks to do that, since it's better for her and for my milk to feed every 4 hours. But last night I could barely wake her to eat anything at 4 hours, and then she woke herself up at what would have been 5 hours and ate a ton. Part of me would like to just respect her pattern and get more sleep myself!
TWo cents from a TTM, i would respect her pattern and SLEEP
We gave up on the bassinet after like 5 really rough nights in a row. She is swaddled and goes in the Mamaroo now. She loves that thing. During the day she sleeps in a pack and play in the living room so I know she can sleep flat, just not at night. I think she gets a little reflux-y because after about 10 minutes of being flat she starts gagging or hiccuping and squirming a lot. During the day I can hold her upright for longer, but at night I get impatient and the position of the mamaroo helps.
Be careful with the mamaroo and sleeping or any devices not approved for sleeping. I had a friend whose baby ended up somehow in a position where he started turning blue and had to be taken to the ER. He was fine, but just a cautionary tale, especially if you're sleeping too and can't monitor them.
Thanks! Maybe we will try the bassinet again. Now I'm worried.

Maybe I'll split the difference and set my alarm for 5 hours - that way she'll probably wake me up, if my prediction is right, but if she doesn't, it's not TOO far past the 4 hour mark.

Our Pedi just said to let him sleep as long as he wants once he reaches his birth weight, which we expect him to be at at his two week appointment. Probably sooner, but we have no scales in the house so I can't check.

My ped also said wake every 3-4 hrs at night, even though she is past her birth weight she is still tiny. Last night is actually the first night we made it to 4 hrs without her waking up anyways though.
Yes, let's not forget he was 8lb 15oz, so when we get back to birthweight (currently at 8lb, 11oz) he'll be a significant size.

Right. She was only 6.12, dropped to 6.4, and reached 7.10 by day 16, so I think they still want us to be careful about letting her go too long, especially because she loves to sleep and still needs to be woken for many of her feedings during the day, too.

Ya she was only 6.4 and went down to 5.12 she was 6.9 at day 13 but that is still super tiny!
How do you guys know when you're "dry" or done pumping? I just go till my boobs feel like normal boobs when I squeeze them and stop. Lol
I pump until the squirts stop. (that sounds so weird/gross. Lol). Then I squeeze and massage my boobs to get any more out. When it gets to a slow drip I know im done.

Yeah this plays a factor as well. My kid was 9lb 12oz on Tuesday. Bigger baby means bigger stomach means able to stay full longer.

Oh lord. I'm not sure my boobs can take longer pump sessions but there is definitely still squirting...

Do you have the right size flanges? Make sure there is not too much areola being pulled when pumping. It shouldn't hurt.
I've only gotten 3-4 hour stretches but she's consistent and really doesn't wake more frequently than that. She's tiny though. Born at 5.15 and got down to 5.10, was back to birth weight at six days old and was 6.15 yesterday at 17 days old.

How do I know when boobs are "dry"? I just pump until the milk seems to stop or super slows.
How to get baby to sleep in a bassinet? Put baby to sleep. Gently put in bassinet. Pray as you let go. Repeat if baby cries. If if just doesn't work, give up, and take a nap with baby cuddled in your arms or on your chest. Mama/Daddy needs a nap too!
Every baby is different. Just do what you need to do to keep baby warm/safe/happy.

How much is too much areole? It doesn't really hurt but is not super comfortable either. I haven't been able to get more than about an ounce at a time (after he eats).

The opening should be 2-3mm bigger than your nipple. Maymom has a printable caliper to determine your nipple size.
Also, I got the mybrestfriend pillow. I've only had it for a day but it has significantly cut down on my nipple pain. I know you were also having issues with this so it may be worth a shot.
