Add me to the mom of a toddler with too much screentime. I had a minor meltdown today after my two year old and five week old were both demanding my time and no free hands. So I got online and found a calendar of toddler-friendly activities around the area I plan to try next week so we can get out of the house more. I got to the point today where I actually couldn't wait to get back to work. Not good.

Oh good. Any ideas for entertaining a toddler without tv, while breastfeeding a newb all.day.long?
Lego Duplos seem to be a big hit around here. And sticker books. I've gotten good at peeling the stickers one-handed since he can't peel them off himself yet.

Buy all the little people collections! I'm currently creating a farm for her. She loves them and they will hold her attention for hours. Plus no parts are small enough to worry about when E is mobile.
When you all go to pay your hospital bills make sure you ask for a discount. My hospital knocked an additional 25% off what I owed after insurance adjustments and payments for paying in full and giving them my card/check info over the phone.
Im currently in the process of trying to get an itemized bill. I've called every week for a month. Definitely going to ask for a discount.
Please tell me my toddler isn't the only one who's watching waaay too much tv?
My 4 and almost 3 year old have been obsessed with this surprise eggs on YouTube. Awful, awful, awful; but I need time to breathe, and maybe even pee alone haha.

Our nurse today told us to call for a discount because I spent 4 hours in recovery waiting for a postpartum room and wasn't given a bassinet for baby.
When we got to postpartum it still took over 2 hours to get a bassinet. Sigh.

Wow - that's horrible. You had just labored for hours and you had a c-section. Did people help you hold the baby? That had to have been tiring. Where did you do diaper changes?
I'm frustrated. I have two hospitals within my HMO that are equal distance from my house. In my area, most deliver at the hospital to the south of me. It's where I delivered my kids and I love it. I called yesterday and they still have a restriction on visitors 14 and under for flu season. They told me the ban will be lifted from all of their hospitals at the same time.
I decided to call the hospital to the north to see and they said they have no restriction and it sounded as if they haven't had one all flu season long. Now I'm wondering if I should switch hospitals. I've never been to the one to my north but have heard only great things. I'm attached to the southern hospital because of my previous experiences there. I don't know how long my kids would even come to visit while we're there but I'd like them to be able to have a short time to meet their brother or sister before baby is home.

I'm so mad right now, MIL (staying with us this week) just gave P (4 days old) a paci after we specifically said we wanted to wait a couple weeks to introduce.
ETA: did you wait to introduce a paci? If so, how long?

I did not. I'm trying to encourage it because she's killing my boobs. She's 4 days old and I've offered it since day 2.

We are not planning too but the LC told us to wait 4 weeks, the hospital nurses said 2... Sorry about your MIL. Why don't people listen

We didn't wait. She took one the first day. No breastfeeding or weight gain issues. She typically only has it at bedtime or while in her car seat. I offer it when she has hiccups too, it seems to help her get rid of them.

Hahahaha no. We waited maybe like 18 hours after when she was born. There were no negative effects. She didn't reject me as her mom. She drinks from both boob and bottle. Sucks that your MIL didnt listen but your LO is not going to be damaged from it.
Omg +1. This kid gags, chokes, and coughs when we try to give her one. PLEASE CHILD. JUST TAKE IT.
This seems like a dumb question since I have two kids but we never did pacis. Why do you want baby to take one so badly?
With my oversupply if she wants to comfort nurse there is gagging, choking, and milk everywhere which gets her super upset and pissed off. A paci gives her comfort without the waterfall of milk.
