We may use some of our leftover names from last time, or we may start from scratch. Ryan was either going to be Ryan or James, a girl would have been Carolyn Rose. Now we aren't sure if we want to just use James and Carolyn, or start from scratch. I like Trevor as a sibling name with Ryan. We are sort of out of family names we like. And I love Maeve as a middle name for a girl but DH isn't feeling it.

Finley Donatello is our top pick for a boy. Una for sure for a girl. Not decided if it's middle or first yet. We have more names but I am having a horrible case of blanks..... I will ask H and update later.
I like Shaun, Shane, Bodhi, Pax, William (but I'm not into Bill) and Adam for a boy. MH will never go for Pax because it's too untraditional. Adam is MH name so that'd be for him and William is my grandpas' name. My moms dad was William Frederick and my dads dad was Frederick William so I'd love to honor both of them. Bodhi is my absolute favorite for a boy bc I love the meaning.
For a girl, I like Delaney and Asha. Asha is pronounced the same as a Polish girls name I like, Asia - so that gets big points with MH. As far as other girls names, I like a lot but really wanted something with deep meaning so that (boy or girl) baby grows up to wonder why they're named and to explore their names meaning. Putting that feeling aside I like Sophie/Sophia (polish Zosia), Claire (my grandmas name), Rose, and August.
calindi we threw out DS's potential girl name. I don't know why, we loved it then, but now it's just..... not right. Idonno if that's common?
We sort of did that; when I was pregnant with DS, we picked out a boy name and a girl name, and then when I was pregnant with DD1, we used the original middle name, but picked a new first name because DH was no longer sure he liked the first name.

What does Bodhi mean? I love that your grandfathers had inverted names!
We're also using meaning as our #1 qualifier. Our son's first and middle names together mean "honorable warrior," reflecting that we want him to fight for his beliefs but do so with integrity.
I always thought it was cool my grandpas had the same (inverted) name lol. Bodhi means "enlightenment" or "awakening", or "free from ego".
Our daughter is Charlotte Grace so nothing very modern for baby #2. We like Emilia Adalynn (not sure of middle name spelling) and for a boy were set on Silas Joseph. Joe was DH's gpa and Silas was Joe's great gpa. There is no special meaning being naming him Silas, we just liked the name.
calindi we threw out DS's potential girl name. I don't know why, we loved it then, but now it's just..... not right. Idonno if that's common?
We decided to toss the other name we had picked out for DS...Benjamin Anthony. My H still like Anthony but I'm not sold. We never had a girls name picked out but I am pushing for Kate as a middle name.
Does anyone have rules for names? I really want a name without a nickname that is two syllables.

mh always tries to rhyme the name with something mean because he was picked on as a kid. If it comes up with something mean he tosses it. I've lost a lot of good names to that test.
For a boy, Michael Owen is out top chocie. We also considered Owen Michael.
For a girl, number 1 is Claira Maria. We also considered Catherine Maria, but Claira is our top.
Love the boy names and in general, I like the name Owen better, but with it's popularity, I would probably go with Michael as the first. Love Clara too, but I've never seen it spelled the way you did. Are you attached to the i in Claira?

my nephew is Silas. Absolutely love the name!! And Emilia and Charlotte are beautiful too.

I promised my husband three kids ago that the next boy would be named John after him, so a boy will be John (and we agreed last time on James as a middle name, and I think we're sticking with that). We have completely tapped out on girls names we agree on, and I have no idea where to go from here. I love Charlotte and Abigail but he just doesn't care for them.
I am Jewish so we do not name after anyone who is living. H and I also have lost quite a few close relatives, and he likes naming the exact name of the person (whereas I always thought I would prefer to do just a name with the same first letter if I don't actually love the deceased person's name).
But I lost on that with DS's name. He is named Hugh for my husband's grandfather and middle name Anthony for my dad's brother. If he had been a girl he would have been Deborah (for my mom's sister) Katherine (for H's sister). I would never in a million years have picked Hugh out of a list of baby names but now I love it, and it fits him so well.
I am not sure if we will still use D.K. for this one if it's a girl. I don't hate the nane Debbie but I don't love it for a daughter of mine either. I like Kate a lot more so I'm considering whether we would switch the two. There aren't really a lot of D girl names that I like.
If this baby is a boy, his first name will be Declan (for my Aunt Debbie) Joseph for H's uncle. Although, H lost another uncle this year who he was pretty close to (as opposed to Joe who he never met) so I could see a Declan Thomas in our future. I love the name Declan.
pandabrrr I love Charlotte. It will likely be a contender if 2.0 is a girl.
In general I am a traditionalist in all things including names. DS is Bradley Clinton (Clinton is DH's middle name, it has been used in their family since the Civil War.)
For girls, a few of my favorites are Caroline (family name), Elizabeth (my name and also a family name) and Merritt.
For another boy, William (nn Will), Andrew, Harrison, Robert, Graham, and Connor are some favorites ATM. My dad is Thomas.McLean so I'd like to incorporate one of those as a MN since we did a family name from H's side for DS.
calindi we threw out DS's potential girl name. I don't know why, we loved it then, but now it's just..... not right. Idonno if that's common?

I joke that in order for DH to like the name, it needs to be a name that would be acceptable to the British Royal Family. He only likes very traditional anglosaxon names. Our son is Ryan Henry (Ryan is a family name on my side, Henry is a family name on DH's side). We are kinda out of family names now though. Except Daniel, but I didn't really like DH's grandpa. And I don't love the name. I would deal with it as a middle name if I must.

Yeah, MH is pretty traditional too. When I said earlier that I don't like a lot of girl names that start with D, I am not even going to try with some that I do like--like Dahlia--because I know he'd never go for it. I don't even feel like it's that "out there"!

I just downloaded a baby names app the other day to start picking out names I like. I never let myself think about names before and now I don't know where to start! I love some of the names that you guys mentioned.. Henry, Charlotte. I also like Paige, Thomas and Joshua. Still have to get opinions from H though.
BTW, I remember seeing a list a couple years ago that showed Declan, Charlotte and Victoria as the top names and it was when the show Revenge was big. I thought that was funny.
I think for a boy we are pretty set on the name Connor Anthony. I have had that name picked out for years! And coincidentally Anthony is DH's grandfather's name so that just works out perfectly. We may come up with another contender because I like the idea of going into L&D with options and picking once we see the baby. I would love to think about a middle name Joshua to name after my brother.
I am totally lost on a girl name. My grandmother passed recently and we were extremely close. Her name is Marian Lee. She always used to complain he middle name was too masculine. So I have contemplated using Leigh as a middle name in her honor. DH has said he likes the name Marian and would be happy to use that. I don't hate it but I also don't really love it on a baby either. Also I have always loved the name Teagan and have been entertaining Teagan Leigh for a long time. I just don't know if that's too out there. Other than that I don't have any girl names on my list.

Apparently danib and I have very similar taste lol my top two right now are Owen and Claire/Clara. Every time I like a name it gets popular! I loved Logan for years and then it sky rocketed and we just had a close friend name their baby Logan so it's out for those two reasons. Middle name will be James, family name. I like boy names that end in N for some reason: Nathan, Ian, Dylan, Landon. Girls are harder for me. I like Amelia and Lillian... Again popular. I also like Isla but I'm afraid people would pronounce it "is-la". It's going to take a lot more thinking to come to a decision. My H does not want to offer suggestions, he just likes to veto mine...
nuggetrn I love Teagan and I don't think it's too out there. Marian is really pretty too. I would consider that one for a girl of mine. cookswithwine9, lol at YH just wanting to veto. Such a common tale with these dudes!
I realized I have a "type" with boy names--T + er. My favorite names are Trevor, Tucker, and Tyler. Not sure we'll ever get to use any of them but I do love them.
For girl names I am more picky, and I'm another one who loves some of the really popular names (Sophia, Claire, etc.). In some ways, it's good that we are constrained to naming after relatives; definitely narrows the scope.

I adore Hugh!
I like Hugh a lot! Probably b/c of my love for Downton Abbey and the actor who played Lord Grantham. DH will tell you I always go for the olds
nuggetrn I like Marian a lot. I have an aunt Marian, and a girlfriend named Marion (IDK why it's spelled with an O since that is the traditional masculine spelling). Lee was my grandmother and mother's middle name, I do prefer 'Leigh' for a girl, though.
We have the boys name picked out. Dh's family all the oldest boys are Williams nicknamed Bill so we're thinking William Aaron unless baby boy is born on November 17th then he'll be named William Gordon after my dad. (his name was Gordon William) but our little one would be called Liam too many Bills lol.
If we have a girl, I like Vivienne Rose or Vivienne Marie. I like "old lady" names. LOL
We'll most likely use Delia Rose for a girl (family names). Not sure about a first name for a boy but the middle name will be Del (my dad's middle name).
