What kinds of snacks do you guys have in your post-labour snack bags? I guess I should maybe start packing something.
Almonds, chocolate chip granola bars (because I can pretend they're totally not candy bars), rice cakes, beef jerky, and those Austin cheese and peanut butter crackers. I need variety in my life.
The baby scared me bc I hadn't felt movement in awhile. I had to sacrifice and eat 3 cookies and drink an apple juice. Did a kick count and all good.
When you said you sacrificed and ate 3 cookies... this is sarcasm, right? caaause I might be able to eat 30 cookies and drink a half gallon of apple juice... he he

In my dry bag I *USED TO* have trader joe's choc chip granola bars (that I also pretend aren't candy, @led), popcorn, crackers, coconut chips, fruit leather, other healthier granola bars. I also have a cold bag waiting in the fridge/freezer with frozen fruit, coconut water, lemon juice to put in my water, sliced cheese. The hospital said the cold stuff was okay as long as each item was labeled with our name, pack date, and expiration date. Then we just put it in their fridge!

so I have protein bars, belvita bars, Chex mix, pretzels. in a cooler I will have cheese, Gatorade, fruit, hummus. If I have time, I'll pack sandwiches. It's going be a big ass picnic in my room lol
While we're on the subject.... how many bags do you have packed?
I'm not typically a heavy packer, but we have 2 duffel bags and a backpack full! I guess it includes clothes and toiletries for the whole family, labor tools, food, my birth binder, uhhh it just seems like kind of a lot. Will we get side eyed? Will I care?
Next, wth is going on with my temperature? I'm just fine at 98.5* but my body can not decide what temperature it wants to be! hot cold hot cold hot face cold body hot body cold face waaaaaaah
The dumpsters are way too far away from my front door. I kept putting off taking out the recycling but couldn't stand the look of it anymore so I took it out, but holy hell walking like 10 feet fucking hurts today. I'm going to bed and never getting up.
I ate my dinner at 5:30 and took my zantac at 6:30 just like usual. Unfortunately a few minutes ago I randomly threw up. No real forewarning. It wasn't a ton, but still.
Has it been long enough since taking the zantac that it should be in my system? :/ I don't want to take MORE than I need, but I don't really want to be up all night with heart burn.
About snacks... my hospital said we are more than welcome to bring them if we wish and there are mini fridges. However, they DO have a special menu available 24-7 for the maternity ward and can get you meals whenever you are hungry after giving birth even if it doesn't coincide with typical meal time hours.
Is anyone making snacks or sweets for the nurses? I want to make my midwife something if I have time once I go into labour. But I'm not sure what. Cookies are pretty easy to whip up quickly, and even my H can make them.
teraiin can you take more later if your heartburn gets bad?
I didn't pack a snack bag last time, but by the time I felt like eating they were serving breakfast so it wasn't an issue.
That's where I'm sort of confused. I've been taking 150 mg at night only. But sometimes I will have a couple of tums mid-morning if I have a bit of heart burn.
So I wonder if maybe I should (or could) just take a couple of tums at say midnight if I'm having issues, rather than risking doubling up on the zantac.
The hospital food at the hospital I'm delivering at is, from what I remember really yummy. The hospital food at the hospital I had surgery at in January was disgusting. I could not wait to eat real food again.

I was thinking of buying a cookie sampler tray and bringing it for the nurses. Of course... it's easier to plan something like that if I get induced I guess... otherwise I should consider getting something with more shelf life...

I'm making cookies for my nurse that's been taking care of me this whole pregnancy because she's super super awesome. I don't know that I'll do anything for the L&D nurses, though.

Sorry about the pain. That sounds so frustrating.
I was really hopeful this morning because my back didn't hurt quite as much as it did yesterday (it was REALLY bad (to the point of tears) yesterday) but today the weight/pressure is just absolutely brutal. I'm really hoping it's not going to be like this from now on, I think it's just been too much for too long because it's been slowly getting worse and worse, but today is just really bad. I've been going back and forth from the living room to the kid's room a lot today and I'm finally just done because it hurt so bad I fell to my knees a little bit ago. I'm just done moving. Even my exercise ball isn't helping like it was.
Sorry for all the complaining. I know I complain about the pain a lot.

You can complain as much as you want! It's not like I never complain! Andplusalso pain sucks... a lot and having it daily and progressively get worse? That sucks more. I just wish there was some sort of relief for you. (hug)

I'm glad your movement is better though
Absolutely. There were actually only 3 cookies left so yeah I ate all 3. We have been buying chunky chips ahoy in bulk bc I eat them so fast! Baby seems to enjoy them.
((hugs)) @led. Your complaints bother me zero... in fact I think they're in the negative on the list of things that bother me, so no apologies necessary. T&P you find relief soon.

This was exactly my plan, but if I buy it then I'm sure it will go stale then I'll have two entire cookie samplers to consume so they don't go to waste... Maybe I'll feel compelled to go shopping during early labor? ... I have no other plan...

This is what I was thinking. My midwife is so awesome and she has gone above and beyond for me with this pregnancy and everything else I've been through. Hell she is the one who found my tumour, so I feel like it's the least I can do. I won't actually be attended to by any of the nurses until I get to post partem unless I need a c section. But with a midwife if all is well with baby and I I'll get to go home a few hours after I deliver.
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. Add me to the list of people who don't mind the complaints. I'm sure we're all feeling some level of discomfort and we can all commiserate at this point.
Soooo I am MULTIPLE pages behind. where did all the chatter come from? I saw something about a Roomba? Reasons I LOVE my roomba -spot clean the kitchen after DS so kindly helps measure out things like rice, oatmeal, sugar, etc. when we are cooking -spot clean the bathroom after I blow-dry my long shedding hair -mid-week living room vacuuming before cleaning ladies come back -mid-week bedrooms vacuum -random picking up of our lovely cat's fur. She doesn't shed enough for the roomba to care, but enough for ME to care since we live in a smaller space and DS will eat food that falls on the floor.
It's just overall handy to have so that I don't have to drag the shark out! I have the one sold at Costco. It's not the lowest or highest end roomba.
We do use it A LOT though. Oh, it's also great for picking up food DS drops on the floor while eating!
k3am, I just saw picture of your roomba in costco cart? YES. that's the one! I also have zero signs of labor but do still have 3 weeks. so I'm happy about that.
DS has a cold. He's not sleeping well so we (DH and I) are not sleeping well. I'm exhausted.
At least I AM tying up lose ends at work. There are many of them to finish up but it's happening! westiemom, I'm sorry you have to spend time under photo lights. I hope it's a nice hospital, that you have a private room and a bed to sleep on?
