One thing that stood out to me is the hourly washing of pump parts. A suggestion, if I may? I did not wash after every use, and we had no ill effects. I would rinse the parts and just put them in the fridge (in a ziploc bag) until next use. Then wash once a day. I swear on this for my sanity. Maybe it can help make your ongoing duties fewer?
So on one side, my milk comes out so fast that she almost always chokes on it. Any solutions? Pumping a bit? The other side is fine.
I would adjust her position, if you haven't already, so she's angled a bit up over the boob instead of under it. I'm finding this hard to describe. Maybe make her work against gravity a bit.
Good idea! I will try that, thank you! Weird, because I pumped that side and it's not like I have a ton of milk on that side, for some reason it just makes her choke and the other side doesn't.

I was going to suggest this. Unless the baby is a preemie or the LC said not to do this for some reason - the fridge trick is such a time and sanity saver.

THIS- we got the green light to finally start doing this and it is life changing.
There's nothing more frustrating than a 2 week old deciding that after using the cradle position exclusively his entire life that he will now only nurse while using the football hold. It took 20 minutes of him fighting and crying before I figured this out. Dude, it's 3 am. You couldn't have told me this earlier today?!?

We've been flip flopping back and forth- I wish they sent out memos with their nightly preferences before the whole up after midnight feeds.
soultrane I'm not a fan of the football hold, but the lactation consultant is and DD did eat well on my side she usually rejected using it.
I never leaked this much with DS but feel like I'm constantly covered in milk after a feeding. Makes me feel so gross and makes the laundry feel constant!
The cradle hold is once again acceptable this morning. I don't like the football hold either so I'm considering this a major victory. Is it bad that I was mildly gleeful when I woke him up to eat this morning since it was minor payback for keeping me up half the night??
Andrea and frecklesnbrains I'm so sorry. Those nights just suck completely. We had one the night before last and I was an emotional mess. I hope you can get some rest today and have a better night tonight.
Andrea and frecklesnbrains, hope your LOs become more cooperative and let you sleep again soon. I also hope that you're both able to get a nap today. Hugs, ladies!
I am forbidding my H from holding, rocking, or otherwise making it easy for this kid to relax and sleep this evening. I am determined to teach him that nighttime is for sleeping!
Every time I nurse, just after she latches, I want water. Then I realize I can't reach it from where I am with out disrupting her and irritating my already sore nipples! Why can't I remember to put it within reach?!?
Add me to the list of people whose babies eat all night and sleep all day. I am probably sleeping 2 hours a night max. Brutal. Then everyone keeps telling me to sleep during the day when he is sleeping. But with all the doctors' appointments, I haven't been able to do that. I'm hoping to try to nap more this weekend. The LC was a huge help. I'm really amazed at how quickly my nipples healed once she helped me get him in better position. They are still sore, but nothing compared to where we started.

Ditto. I always miss one thing I want near me, then I have to sit there for 20-40 minutes staring at it!
When is everyone doing first bottle? We did it at 2 weeks with DS and never had any issues but I was planning to wait until 3-4 weeks this time since we've had some latch issues. However, now my supply is running low and I may want to up my pumping game to up my supply, so I may do one earlier.

I did two weeks with DS also, I was nervous he wouldn't take a bottle when I went back to work. I'll probably do the same with DD.
