F could be on the boob for nearly an hour before he fell off of his own accord.
I usually break the seal with my pinky and pop him off if he's being lazy after twenty minutes or so. Then I burp and offer other side. I'll repeat until he stops taking it.
Is anyone dealing with a lip tie? I know I'm setting him up for a nice deep, wide latch but B is leaving me with a terrible blister on the same spot of both nipples. Going to have the Pedi check it out today

melody330 we are getting his tongue tie clipped tomorrow at an ent. I'm nervous but he has an obvious heart shaped tie and his latch is painful unless I'm so careful to position him perfectly. I'd rather do it now.
What is everyone wearing?? My default has been nursing camis but I feel so underdressed and just not cute when leaving the house. I wish I had more kimonos to cover but don't want to spend tons of money.

I bought some tops and dresses at Milk Nursingwear. They weren't super cheap, but I was busting out of the camis in every way possible. I really wanted clothes I could wear with an actual nursing bra. I feel much better about life now, and could wear the clothes when not nursing... although I imagine I will be sick of them by then.

I've been wearing nursing bras with regular t shirts and tank tops during the day. It helps me feel more normal and less exposed when I'm nursing. Nursing ranks or just bra at night for easy access.

Im wearing a nursing tank or wireless nursing bra with a low cut top over. I have a couple surplice or nursing friendly jersey dresses that are great for looking and feeling decent. Right now I'm in my old fat jeans cutoffs, nursing bra, maternity tee, and vans. Not exactly stylish.
I sleep/lounge in a tank with an unbuttoned flannel on top (hot).
I've bought some cuter stuff to wear soon. Henley tanks, wrap dresses, shirt dresses. Pretty much anything that opens enough to pop out a boob and covers bra straps is nursing clothes.
I'm also wearing nursing tanks and feeling underdressed. Today I put a lightweight 1/2 sleeve cardigan over it but I was still hot. I have some great wrap dresses I'm sure will work but I can't be bothered to put them on just to pick up my kid from summer camp.
I wear a regular shirt over a target nursing tank. Tank comes down, shirt goes up, most everything stays covered. Also any dripping/ shooting milk gets on the tank and not the outer shirt. I'm not a fan of nursing specific clothes with the boob slits because I end up with milk all over the outside.
F could be on the boob for nearly an hour before he fell off of his own accord.
As little as 5 minutes (just comfort nursing & falling asleep basically) to 30ish minutes. He'll probably go longer as he gets older/more milk comes in.

I wear a nursing sports bra (wish it was a little more supportive but I'm not buying real nursing bras until I figure out how big my boobs will get) pretty much around the clock. Around the house I'll wear a tank top over it, or just the bra on its own. In public I throw a t-shirt over everything, and pull the t-shirt up & tank top down. Considering the only places I've been so far is the pediatrician & Target, I don't feel underdressed. But jeans & t-shirt is my everyday attire for just about anywhere.

This exactly. I plan to wear a tank and button up blouse to work.

Just got back from Pedi. She checked him out really well- no tie anywhere. I think he's just lazy and I don't work hard enough to keep him latched right.
If he did have one I would absolutely get it clipped asap! Fx the procedure goes smoothly for you guys

Even at 5 weeks his sessions vary in length like whoa.

Maddox needs a tongue tie too. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes.
Question: Flint has a blister/callous/dead skin thing on his medial upper lip. Dr. Google is telling me upper lip tie. Should I be worried? No painful latch, my nipples are doing fine now, and he's gaining weight.
Anyone else have a kiddo with something like this?
I've been wearing just nursing tanks and athletic shorts. I figure everyone is looking at the baby and not me. We also have a heat wave right now so not wearing more than I need to. I've been sleeping too less too because I've been trying to air dry to help with the sore nipples.

On the outside of his lip? Or in his mouth? DS constantly gets the "nursing blister" on his mouth. It's just dead skin and comes off with time or a wet wash cloth. No ties here, and ds1 use to get it too.

Yep, we have one here. No ties that I know of. I saw upper lip tie on the googles too, but also saw that that's more of a sign if it persists for several weeks (10?). At this stage it can just be normal and toughens up their very soft lips.

It's like on the very tip of the pointy part of his lip.

Those milk blisters are common. They look weird but they're nothing to worry about.
Mal has started taking a pacifier. He's such a sucker but I have mixed feelings. My DD never took one so I'm not sure what I'm doing and I don't want to mess up his already screwy latch or confuse him.

Maddox has whst look like blisters on his upper and lower lip...Dr Google told me it was normal for newborns, but I did also see references to tongue/lip ties with blisters.

Speaking of pacifiers any BF mom's using them? I was hoping Maddox would find his thumb to suck on that, but no luck and I keep reading no pacifiers until 4 weeks if you are breast feeding to avoid nipple confusion. I feel he wants to suck for comfort, but don't know if we should try a paci.

We held off till this week (Roar will be 4 weeks tomorrow). He loves it, but we were slowly introduced it because we were worried about messing something up. We started by using it just during diaper changes, then at night when he had just fed but was upset because of gas. He accidentally pulls it out all the time, so it is a short term solution for us.
@tikoberry99 we've been using one a little. 80% of the time she spits it out, but sometimes at night when she's tired, fed and super close to going to sleep, she'll take it and it'll help her settle. My older DD would not take one for anythjng, and I tried HARD because she was super fussy.
I think the specific concerns with pacifiers and BF babies under 1 month are: 1. Non-nutritive suckling helps bring in mom's milk and increases supply. If you don't have supply issues and still allow baby to suckle at the breast sometimes, then using a pacifier is not going to cause some huge problem 2. Some young babies will keep sucking the pacifier when they're hungry until they're absolutely famished and way past due for a feeding. And some parents will try to use the paci to delay a feeding. But plenty of other babies will spit that paci out and yell for the breast. And most parents are in tune enough with their baby to know when they should be getting hungry.
So IMO, a pacifier sometimes isn't going to suddenly ruin a BFing relationship. I wouldn't worry about it. If he takes it and it helps him sleep or settle down, great!
