How often are you doing tummy time? I'm averaging once/month over here... Which means he's done it once...
A former NICU mom told me their PT says having baby lay on their tummy on your chest while you are in a reclining position counts. That is the only reason I'm not totally failing at this.
This and baby wearing, which also engages their core and neck, are 90% of my tummy time. He does on the floor tummy time just a couple times a week.
Has anyone dealt with cradle cap before ? When does it get better? My baby is so crusty.
Mild case over here. I just massage his scalp with the brush as he's nursing and rub lotion onto the area after baths. Just keep at it would be my advice.

I've only put him on the floor mat thing for tummy time like twice, but after I burp him I lean waaay back and snuggle for a couple minutes and he looks around, and he's in the carrier during all my step son's hockey games and practices, and most walks I go on.

We've done tummy time on the floor twice, but we do it with him on my chest multiple times a day. He lifts his head really well & is getting a lot better with neck/head control so I'm not worried about it.

My pedi said M had a small flat spot in right back side of his head. Now I'm obsessed with making sure he lays on his back and faces to his left. Anyone else? I have him in the ktaan wrap and hold him over my shoulder most of the time so not sure what else to do.

This was brought up at E's 2 week appt. It was very minor but she wanted to point it out. I was very upset bc he's not on his back much except at night. We switched which way he lays in his crib - he seems to like to face the wall so by rotating, the other side will get pressure at night. But besides that, I'm limiting his time on his back by wearing him, holding him, feeding him, or doing tummy time during the day.
We have his 1 month next week so I'm hoping things look better.

Do you switch sides that M is laying on in the wrap?

I've been having him facing to his left in the wrap and when he lays on me. It's tough...he just loves his right side!

A has a flat spot on her right side and the doctor did not seem overly concerned about it at our appointment yesterday. She really has favored facing that way, no matter what way I turned her head when I put her down. But I have noticed that as her head and neck control are improving and strengthening, she is turning the other way much more often.

S hates to be laid on his tummy on the floor and it usually ends in a puddle of spit up. I try to do tummy time on my chest and baby wear as much as possible. Either way I usually end up with spit up on my shirt.
Should I be trying to put F down for naps during the day at 6 weeks?
Right now when he passes out on the boob I try to move him to the bassinet or swing and if he wakes up (he almost always wakes up) then I wear him or hold him or whatever.
Should I be doing our mini bedtime routine and putting him upstairs in the PNP instead?
Ray, I would do whatever works for you and him. I usually put A in her crib for her morning naps, but in the afternoon she more often sleeps in her swing. She is also a bit of a unicorn about liking her crib and going down drowsy but awake, but she will take a longer afternoon nap in the swing. If you would prefer him to sleep in his crib, it is certainly a reasonable time to see how he does.
My DS was totally different. When at home, he slept on someone for all his naps until he was about 11 months old. At daycare he would sleep in his crib, but never at home. Daycare ladies are baby whisperers, though.

This is what I'm afraid of. Idk if it's a learned habit or just the way some babies are but I don't want DH or I to be bound to him and the house for months just so he can sleep. On the other hand... He's not really sleeping lol
I'm currently side-lying comfort nursing him trying to calm him and then maybe I can just roll away and he'll sleep on our bed.

Yeah, it started out of necessity but turned into laziness because it was the easiest way to get naps longer than 30 minutes. I don't have the luxury of this option this time. I miss the snuggles with A, but it is also nice to be able to put her down and have my hands free to do things, or lay down myself.

Thanks acorn99 & Ray. I've been wanting to but MH thinks it will confuse him for sleep during day vs. night, but at this point, he still reflexes like crazy so he only takes cat naps sans swaddle.
At first I did naps unswaddled because I was trying to create distinctions between day & night. But she loves the swaddle so much- it's great at helping calm her when she's tired and crying- and she naps longer in it, so that went out the window. It hasn't had a negative effect on nighttime sleep.
