With DS1 we binged on Dexter and the Walking Dead...and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. So good. But yea, lots of time plopped in front of the tv nursing when they are this little.

I think I'd go bonkers without having TV/movies to occupy all this nursing time. MH & I are finally watching GOT. We are closing in on S5 (no HBO for us so we have to wait till it comes out on DVD). I'm watching all the trashy reality TV during MOTN nursings, too.

E has been helping me binge watch Grey's Anatomy since he came home. We've worked our way to season 7. Sometimes he's nursing while we watch, sometimes I'm holding him while it's on & sometimes he's plopped in his swing with it on in the background while I do stuff around the house. There is literally no way I could interact with him non-stop the entire time he is awake. There's only so much I can talk to a 6 week old about.

What are naps like for your LOs? DD2 is 8 weeks old on Monday and she really only naps well if she's being worn or in the stroller. Otherwise it's cat naps here and there. I keep reading that they're supposed to have 4 naps a day at this age but I just can't see any kind of structure in our day even when I keep track of feeds, diaper changes, and sleep. I can't remember what DD1 was doing at this age, most likely due to sleep deprivation induced memory loss.
ellebelle we are lucky if we get two good naps. R was really fighting them. I've started putting him in his crib sleepy but awake at 10 am to get the first one. He sometimes goes right out and sometimes needs to be rocked as a reset. In the afternoon he often falls asleep in someone's arms and gets transferred to the swing. Any extra naps tend to be when held or in the car

S wakes at approximately the same time every day and is awake and naps at about the same times. He gets about 4 naps a day right now. The maps usually last about 1.5 hours.
His "schedule" (this is completely led by him not imposed by me) is this:
6 am: wake up, diaper change, eat, play (about 1.5 hours is his max) 7:30-9 am: nap 9 am: wake up, diaper change etc. 10:30-12 pm: nap 12 pm: awake time (this will occasionally disappear and he will just nap for the next 3 hours) 1:30-3 pm: nap 3 pm: awake time 4:30-6 pm: nap in the mei tai so I can make dinner 6 pm: awake time, I am trying to work in a bath and such for bedtime routine at the end of this but it's hard with 2 kids. 7:30 pm: asleep for the night. He wakes up after this but we keep it dark and I don't look at the time.

I had Greys absolutely destroyed by a spoiler for me I had been binge watching but now I just can't. Heart torn out too many times lol

I spoiler it for myself. I've read all the episode synopsis on Wikipedia, now I'm just watching it all unfold. I do this with movies & books too. I need to know all the things.

I did this with the outlander series and now I have to feign surprise for DH as we watch the show lol
My kid will nap on someone or if attached to a boob or in a carrier if I'm walking. If I try the bassinet, PNP or our bed I get only get 20, 30 mins tops.

ellebelle I was wondering the same thing about naps! It's pretty much been a crapshoot around here, L has zero routine. Sometimes he is up for hours, other times he has good naps. I wonder if I should be pushing more of a nap schedule? I only push naps on him if DS1 is napping too.

I think sleep experts are just trolling us. DS has fallen into a more predictable routine the last couple of days, but I fully expect it to change as soon as I start counting on each day going a certain way.
Eta: he's 8 weeks, born at 41 + 4, so maybe more like a 10 week old.

Oh yeah, I also hold or wear DS for most naps. If I don't, he wakes up instantly, or if he's out, after 20 - 40 minutes, which is typical of a young baby who hasn't yet learned how to get through the transition between sleep cycles.
Omg @sarcaztic that sounds amazing. Does he nap in a swing or crib?
It usually starts on me and then I put him in the rock n play. Sometimes he will get fussy and I will either rock him back to sleep in the RnP or pick him up and lay him on my chest the rest of the time.

As far as naps go for us I really have to watch S for sleep cues. As soon as I see a yawn combined with him moving less and his eyes getting a bit red and a little droopy I put him in the Woombie and dim the lights and start rocking and patting him. Usually he is out in a few minutes if I read him right but as a general rule he has a max awake time of about 1.5 hours at this age.
If we are out of the house like today though naps are kind of a crapshoot with a lot of cat naps.

I struggled majorly w naps for my older one. And with this one, we are basically on DS1's schedule so how the heck am I supposed to form an appropriate nap schedule?

Yea.......the only nap I keep a schedule of and really force is when DS1 naps. Everyone needs to be in their own rooms for this nap. 90% of the time I get them both down for almost two hours around 12:30/1 ish.
But we all know how terrible my kids are with sleep so maybe don't listen to me.
ETA- I would say he takes three good "naps" a day. But TBH we are out of the house and he usually cat naps all day when this happens. But that one solid chunk of time midday is mandatory.
B is usually awake from 4-9 which is when he goes to bed. It sucks.

This exactly! I have two days with DS1, two days where he's at daycare but I'm running errands, one day with DS1, and then it's the weekend and there's no routine...

E will nap for hours if I'm wearing him or he's on my chest. If I put him down somewhere he's up in less than 15 minutes. Yesterday my husband put him in the PNP on his stomach (in the living room, supervised) and he slept for 3 hours. Apparently the kid just wants to be a tummy sleeper.

Once we figured out that DS1 was a stomach sleeper he slept so much better. He still woke up a lot at night, but it went from every 25 minutes to every 2-3 hours. I think we started letting him sleep on his belly a round 6-7 months.
TTMA ear care. I can see a bunch of wax in one of A's ears. How does one clean?
At this age, I take a damp wash cloth over my pinky finger and wipe the outside and in his ear. I don't stick my finger in his ear canal, but I wipe as far in as I can get. I asked DS1's pedi to show me how to clean his ears when he was newborn.
