Sorry for the rough nights in terms of sleep and food poisoning. :-(
I don't think I can participate in this thread anymore in the MOTN. Looking at my phone wakes me up too much. Took almost an hour to get back to sleep last night after a wake up. Cannot be wasting precious sleep that way!
rungirlrun That's why I don't often post in the middle of the night unless it's a really bad night and I'm wide awake. But I do like to check in first thing in the morning when I know I'm ready to be up for the day.

My phone has an option where past a certain time it makes the light yellow vs the blue screen light that supposedly makes it harder to go to sleep. You could try that maybe?

I think I'm going to avoid all screens just to try to stay as asleep as possible. I'll catch up in the morning to share my woes. And then one day, I hope to not participate at all bc I'm actually asleep in the MOTN!

I usually catch up in the morning because I'm watching tv during feedings. Do what you have to do!
Ds1 is up for the day now. Thank goodness for our okay to wake clock. I'm not ready to parent yet. I've got 45 minutes before it turns green. But B is squirming and wiggling in his crib so that's never good.

L gave me a decent stretch but I can't get him back down. Thinking of just putting him in the PNP to hang while I snooze. We do not get up before 7am in this house, dude. Hard no.

You're dude will just hang in a PnP? Like...awake? Neither of my kids have any chill so this would literally never even cross my mind in our house.

I'm jealous!
Yes, L is very laid back, I'm really lucky! He hung out and I got to snooze another 40 minutes (although he was super grunty). He often has to hang out while I deal with DS1's shenanigans, so he's getting used to it.

E did well, but his 2nd wake up was at 5 and he won't go back down. So it's 6 and we are just looking at each other in my bed while he works on a poop. DS1 is also up, but I'm allowed to ignore that fact until 6:30 when his clock turns green. H has left for the day. And all of DS1's recent kisses have gotten me sick. It's going to be a long day.
Last night was (almost) 4 hours, 2 hours while nursing/cosleeping, then she was up every hour after that fussing and not going back to sleep.
We had her 2 month pedi visit today. The pediatrician said "I think by your 4 month visit she'll probably be sleeping 4 hours every night. MAYBE 5." I wanted to cry.

We had a great night. DS was asleep around 8, in the crib at 9. Woke up to eat at 1:45 and 5:45, up for the day at 7:30. I can handle that schedule and feel great today. DD is on a nap strike so she didn't get up until 8:30 😱 I can hear her singing and playing in her crib now when she should be sleeping.

Reflux mamas: How do you guys get your LOs back down again? I feel like I'm doing something wrong. DS consistently wakes at 4:30-5:00 for a feed. He usually falls asleep nursing, then I hold him upright for 10-15 min to allow some digestion (he has pretty intense reflux otherwise), then I put him back in the crib (inclined). He doesn't wake up, but he moans and groans and stirs for about an hour and then he whines until I pick him up. (I can hear him swallowing hard, too) He seems happy after I pick him up so I'm guessing it's the reflux that is bothering him. He spits up after this feed in bed probably 25% of the time. Idk, should I do more? Or is this normal baby-isms?

madamewaffles feel free to ignore my sleeping advice, but in our house this is normal for B.
It's about time when his Zantac is wearing off, and he's been on his back all night so it's bad. I just try to make sure he gets a really good burp or two before I put him down.

Is your LO on medicine for his reflux?
No, pedi won't RX it since she is in the school of thought that he is gaining weight and not projectile spitting up. 😢 I feel bad, he can't really play on his mat or lay down for more than 15 min. His first stretch of sleep is fine, but I'm keeping him upright for about an hour before bed.

madamewaffles LT for commiseration. B is gigantic for his age, and my pedi totally understood he was comfort nursing because he was feeling so shitty from the reflux. Does he have other symptoms besides spitting up during the day? B would choke while nursing , cough and choke while burping. Scream after spitting up. Shaking his head back and forth when we put him down on his back.
I hate that some pedis won't give medicine just because they are gaining weight. I'm sorry, I wish I had more advice can you get a second opinion?

melody330, thanks for the commiseration. He chokes during feeding as well, probably 75% of the time, and chokes randomly throughout the day out of nowhere, which scares the hell out of me because he turns so red and sweaty when he's trying to catch his breath, and takes a few seconds to return (feels like an eternity when it is happening). He doesn't always scream when flat, but gets fussy really fast. I put in another portal message with his pedi to talk about it.

Good luck! The Zantac was an absolute life changer here. B was screaming most of the day and I was in a really bad place. I hope we can be off of it around 6 months, when we start solids.

Thanks for sharing your knows, melody330! Hope you get a good night with B!! My little guy was knocked out early too. We're supposed to get storms soon, hoping the noise machine drowns it out!

madamewaffles hugs!! We're in the same boat. Reflux but no meds because gaining weight (which is because she wants to comfort nurse all the time). Sounds normal to me. Irene has a good stretch at first and then her reflux gets progressively worse through the night with sleeping on her back. For the wake ups after 5:30 or so I usually have to let her sleep propped upright on my chest or just let her grunt and be uncomfortable until we're up for the day.
