I'd like a backpack style diaper bag recommendation. Anyone have one they love? DD basically lives in her ergo lately and though I loooove my Skip Hop Chelsea, I'd like a backpack for ergo wearing days.

westiemom we have the Jeep backpack diaper bag and lurve it dearly. It comes with stroller straps and my favorite part: it has a wipes pouch so you can access the wipes from outside the bag. So, when I forget the get the wipes out (always) I can pop them open and grab one. It's the best
After getting home with your brand new squish, especially FTM's, is there anything you realized would've made the first few days/weeks easier if you had prepared/done/bought before baby arrived?

I'm mobile and can't see your siggy so not sure what team you're on, but if you're having a boy and know you're getting him circumcised, I would recommend buying a few tubes of Vaseline in the squeeze tube since you need that for diaper changes until the circumcision heals.
Freezer meals are another thing that we're really helpful! I made a few different meals, but if I were doing it again, I would make more. Especially breakfast items and things I could eat one handed.

I've got a TMI question for you grads. So I honestly think I'm dreading post-birth pooping more than labor. I've heard that taking a stool softener can help make this a little less horrible. So when do you start taking it? In labor? After birth? Days or weeks before your EDD?

I took my first one the second I got to the recovery room. I pooped that night and it wasn't bad at all. I never had any issues with pooping and pain and I had a second degree tear and tore my clit in half (yep).

Easy to prepare food was a must. Like enough to last a couple of weeks. I definitely didn't do good preparing in this category.
Also, comfy yoga pants because that's about all you will feel like wearing.
We needed alcohol swabs for umbilical cord care but not everyone's pedi recommend that.

They will likely start giving them to you while you are the hospital. If not, just ask. I took magnesium daily for migraines, but it really helped in that department. So, I just continued on that after we got home instead of colace.

dream2be3 freezer meals! I did them with DS1, but not DS2. I had major regrets. We spent so much money eating out in those first couple of weeks.
Get some comfy underwear, especially if you are having a c/s. I had to go out and buy some this time. I also had to buy more nursing tanks. I basically live in yoga pants and a nursing tank with no bra when we are at home (I'm 6w PP).
This isn't for everyone, but this has worked really well for both of our kids....We have the PNP set up in our room next to the bed. We have the one that has the little cradle and the raised mattress. The baby sleeps in the cradle part for the first couple of months. Then, I have a diaper changing basket, blankets and some clothes on the mattress part. We also have a diaper pail right there. It makes MOTN wake ups so convenient when you only have to move a foot and everything is right where you need it.
I'm not a grad yet but at 18 weeks am still using my sonoline B and for me it's a life saver! Easy to use (tons of YouTube videos if you need them) and allows this PgAL gal to feel much more at ease.

I used mine for two pregnancies and just sold it for $20. Well worth the money!
I have a question with regards to bottle/breast pump part washing/sanitizing. I keep hearing how much of a pain it is, anyone have tips or tricks that has worked for them? Also, my husband hates the grass looking drying rack, will another plain drying rack suffice? Or is the grass thing really worth him dealing with it?

I only pump and give bottles at night. I also give bottles and pump sometimes during the day, but this is my night system: I take one big bowl to bed with all of my pumping supplies and bottles. I'm pretty lucky in that I have three full sets of pump parts. I also take another big bowl that I use to put the dirty dishes in.
I use each pump set two times before I consider it dirty. I leave them out at room temp, bc I am always up at least every three hours. Same goes for any extra milk I pump. If he doesn't drink it by the next wake up, I go and put it in the refrigerator.
During the day, you can use the same set of pump parts all day. Just put them in a plastic bag and keep them in the fridge.
I put everything in the dishwasher every day on the sanitize setting. I have a cheap munchkin drying rack, and it gets the job done.

I took them in recovery and for about 3 weeks afterword. I didn't have any issues, but I was lucky to have a pretty easy recovery.

Actually one huge downside to that grass rack is cleaning it also. A lot of water accumulates between the grass and the try. It's not really my favorite rack, but it was a gift. You'd be totally fine with just a plain looking rack. One trick I learned was to throw pump parts in the fridge after use. You can do this throughout the day so you only have to wash them once.

We planned to have Ro in the PnP in our room. She disagreed very much. We had a RnP-like rocker we'd been given and we had to put it together in a hurry in order for her to sleep anywhere besides us. So I'd say, if you don't have one, buy one. Even if it's just in case and you return it later unopened.

They gave me stool softness twice a day as soon as I got to the PP room. I pooped the next afternoon and TBH the hardest part about it was trying to get clean afterwards. I had stitches, so absolutely no wiping. Using the peri bottle was difficult in its awkwardness, but eventually I got the hang of it. I definitely had anxiety over the poop, but it wasn't bad!

What?! I've never heard of this! Feel free to not answer this, but does it feel normal now? Like during sexy time? Or did you have nerve damage? Just curious...

I didn't know either until it happened! The epidural helped and recovery wasn't too bad. 😉

sms2524, I asked about the grass a little while ago somewhere on the forum. I'd heard such great things about it from friends, but then when I bought it, I couldn't imagine it sitting on my counter every day. Really would have ruined the vibe of my kitchen, lol! The reviews on here were mixed, so I just took it back. I'm still in the market for something, though!

I love my ugly grass drying rack.
I pump once a day and rarely do bottles but I toss my pump parts in soapy water until I have time to wash. Then, I was and throw on rack.
If I'm about to run the dishwasher, I throw them in there. I rarely remember to sanitize. Maybe I will do that today!

Did anyone go into labor unsure of whether or not you wanted an epidural? Can you tell me more about how things went during labor, then?
Initially I just figured I'd get one, but now I'm a lot more focused on trying to limit the medication they'll be giving me and really trying to get through as much of labor with coping techniques as I possibly can. I'm thinking that I'll ask for it at a certain point if I cannot handle the pain any longer. In a way, that plan makes me nervous too because I'm sure I won't be in my right mind and my H won't know what to do, he'll probably just want me to get the epidural so I can relax.
Any experiences to share with this? I'm trying to make sure he understands what I want/need but I'm also not even sure how I'll feel when things are really happening!
