I haven't read through all this yet but if you'll be there next Thursday through Sunday just know that it's marathon weekend so parks may be busier and the chances of eating at a specialty restaurant will be unlikely if you don't already have reservations.
Yeah we did the regular mission to space and I thought I was going to die.
Which would you pick?
We went with Dh's family to Disney while I was pregnant with Dd1 had ate at the Crystal Palace for dinner the last night. I'm not saying that this next part has anything to do with eating there, but I woke up at 3:30am feeling like crap and was throwing up every 30 min until we got on the plane to go back to MN.
As far as the Soarin' ride, I skipped that one because it has a high rating for causing motion sickness, and I'm very very prone to that. I was also 30 weeks pregnant, and could have laid comfortably on my stomach for that ride if my life depended on it.

Yeah this was bad timing. Do you know if they close the parks or any part of it just for the runners or is that all before they open?

Most are before it opens. They keep the parks open but areas where runners come through are roped off and you may have to wait a minute before they let you cross. It's not areas that close of rides or anything and should be done by noon

I'll chime in...
We went in May. We did a half day at Disney studios. We did the character breakfast with Sofia which was a little crazy. DS loves the MMCH show but that's about it. We took the boat to Epcot and spent the rest of the day there. Only time we got DS to nap by walking in circles in his stroller around the world. And we got to relax and have some drinks. He also loved nemo and Aquarium and even figment.
We did a full day at the magic kingdom but only did about 3 rides. We focused on meeting characters. It was stressful for us. We did brunch at chef mickeys at the Polynesian (?) which was a great break and DS loved. It's popular though so reservations are a must.
At Disney springs we just went for dinner. We ended up at the T-Rex place which DS still talks about but I agree it was loud and the food was ok. Other than that we walked around. Mostly stores as I remember.
Also Art of Animation hotel has a cars themed area with pool. I believe they have a full size mater and speed McQueen there. The pool should be easy to get into but if he's set on seeing them it's an option. Thought I'd throw that out there.
I was going to suggest the Art of Animation hotel, but if it's by the pool, you may need a special bracelet/towel to get in, that you can only get if you're staying at the hotel. One by one, all the Disney hotels are doing this. I can't say for sure if this particular hotel has upgraded their security/entrance policy. I love eating at Beaches n Cream in the Beach Club Hotel. You used to be able to walk right by the pool to get to it, now you have to go a whole other way (through a hotel next to it) just to get to the restaurant entrance. It's a PITA, but I get it.
Thanks everyone. Keep it coming. I booked Ohana, Crystal palace, mama melrose, and totti italia or something. I keep checking for cancellations. Fast passes I booked for the two parks we are buying tickets and then I'll have H get his disability whatever too for one. I'm just have really low expectations of the trip. I think trying to do too much would be a downfall and I'm going to focus on doing the few things I know he will love- utilizing the parent swap so he can do those twice, having one sit down meal per day and the rest snack and go. I plan to find some places he can just walk or run around and explore and try not to keep him stroller bound. The baby will be worn or pushed and I plan to build in naps on three of the days.
becole, Even when I didn't have an annual pass, I was still the type to walk around and see what's available to do. I'm an avid planner but there's something about Disney that just makes me see/do things as they come. Don't worry and try not to stress. the big one will have a blast!
We do it all the time. We bring in those large hard plastic straw cups filled with water. We bring in sandwiches and snacks and never had a problem. I know a couple of years ago our cast member friend told us it wouldn't be allowed, but as of now it hasn't been implemented. Or maybe those with kids get a pass.

Okay I wasn't sure if you could take an open drink or had to bring bottles or if it was limited to water or if you could bring in a small coolers with cokes and juice. I plan to bring in kid snacks too.

I haven't tried anything but water, so who knows. I think juice boxes are ok. I've never seen coolers of any size in the parks. They are cracking down on security, so I'd say whatever fits in a purse/diaper bag is good. They added metal detectors this past year which can be a pain but I appreciate it.

I read the only restriction is it has to be a "small soft cooler" we took one like this filled with drinks and sandwiches and had no problems.
ETA ok maybe I'm not up to date on the latest rules
Just reading through this because we will go in a couple years but wow Disney seems overwhelming. So much to see.
There are rides, events, shows, that I still haven't seen. I remember going as a kid for a week. At the time my Uncle was a cast member and we literally ran from place to place, he kept rushing us to see everything. Honestly, it was best on our last day without him. We just walked around and did whatever we wanted. I think that's the right mind set to have. Unless you're visiting for a month, you're not going to see everything. See what's the most important, but take it easy the rest of the trip.

That's what I was trying to figure out. I was going to pack like a soft lunch box of drinks but wasn't sure what was allowed. I know some written policies are flexible and some are not.
Also microworm I suggest doing Disney through a travel agent. There are a lot of things like dining that opens 30-60 days prior to your trip and everyone is on at midnight trying to snatch up the good stuff. I would pay someone to do all this. The app is nice because if you did get your fast passes and meals all reserved, it gives you an itinerary and tells you where you need to be and what time. They also have a live map and show current wait times for rides. You could literally show up, look where you are on the map and go to the stuff close to you with the shortest waits. It doesn't have to be difficult at all. I remember having trouble finding a table to eat at last time so this time I'm planning ahead for that.

We went last May and we're going again end of April/beginning of May this year.
We brought a jogging stroller and dd napped in there. We also brought in a small soft cooler and brought water and snacks.
We loved Crystal palace. She really didn't know the characters too much but it's a great atmosphere.
I hate Disney springs. It's completely different from what it used to be. There's a couple of decent shops but everything else is stuff I'd never buy or even want to look at. And there's nothing to do. It's a waste of time IMO.
Epcot also has frozen ever after if y'all are into frozen. But idk about getting a FP at this point. They also have a meet and greet with Mickey and pals you can get a FP for. We did it in the morning And it was one of the best moments from our trip.
So far the trip is going good! Yesterday we had enough fast passes for the half day at Hollywood that we didn't wait for anything and had dinner reservations. Yesterday we did toy story mania, frozen sing along, muppets, the great movie ride, and little mermaid. He loved them all. Probably like the movie ride and toy story best. Today is Epcot this morning and MK tonight. At Epcot we did the frozen ride which was really cool and DS loved. Then the future ride in the ball and the Nemo ride which was cool. He liked them all too. And margarita in Mexico on the way back. After nap we're going to try to do the parade, dumbo, and anything outside because tomorrow I have fast passes planned out for indoor rides since it's going to rain. I'll update on those two. It's easy to nurse baby in the seated rides and then change his diaper in the bathroom whenever we see one. I've got DS in pull ups bc dnw to deal with an accident at Disney but I was happy he pooped in the potty at the hotel this morning.
Hey @whimsy - If I have a fast pass from 3:40-4:40, and I go to the ride at 5:00, will it still be good? Or does it have to be in the window? I know you can't go before the time.

By the time 5 comes up, it will be too late. You only have it for that 1 hour window.
