@whimsy I think you need to contact Disney and ask them for a consultancy rate...you have so much knowledge and provide the public with an awesome public relations service for the company.

This can not go unrewarded!
This is what happens when you grow up with Disney cast members in your family. I'm that person that points out things at the parks that most people wouldn't notice. I always know Disney trivia. I would love to work for them and get the benefits.
Disney just cancelled the half marathon. Runners are going to riot. I'd be devastated if it were me last year. I hope it lightening a bit in the morning to make people feel better. I get it but there's a lot of upset people that paid lots to run that.

was it suppose to be tomorrow? Why did they cancel?
This thread is giving me a panic attack btw, I am never planning a trip to Disney, DH can be in charge

In case it ever happens to you, they say you have one of the options
A full refund for their race registration in the form of a Disney gift card. Two One-Day Park Hopper tickets. Defer registration to another runDisney half marathon race in the U.S. within the next 24 months, subject to availability. We can offer limited availability to run the full marathon on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 during the regularly scheduled race.

Cancelled due to lightening in the storm that's passing through. The marathon is still on for Sunday though.
@whimsy, I'm very impressed with how generous Disney is being over this cancellation. My step mom was going to do the half so I know there's a lot of people that are grateful for all of the options. It's a lot of money for them to give back when they don't have to. I love Disney!
EPCOT was empty today. We even got to do the frozen ride with minimal wait time. I did see a lot of marathoners running throughout the park today. So they took it upon themselves to do their own marathon. There was a lot of lighting early this morning when they would have been running.
@whimsy wtf was up with the weather? I was so pissed it was cold. And even more pissed that the weather people just totally missed it. They said the temps would drop at like 7 to 55, it was 45 by 2pm! I was like- I could be in KY right now with this crap. Luckily I packed well for all weather for the kids so they were fine and ponchos kept the wind off the baby in the stroller.
So after Epcot, DS got a nap and then we did MK that night. Then MK again on the coldest day ever. Over the two days, we rode Its a small world, dumbo, Peter Pan, toy story mania, the teacups, pirates of the Caribbean, the monsters inc laugh floor, people mover, the go carts. My parents took the kids to watch the fireworks and show and H and I rode Thunder Mountain (I am too old for coasters I've decided) and got right on Haunted Mansion. We did little mermaid a few times and Winnie the Pooh- so cute... we also watched the parade but DS fell asleep and slept through it in his stroller. But such a good parade!
For the littles my faves and suggestions would be: The dance block party with the characters The parade (any of them) It's a small world Frozen ride at Epcot Frozen sing along Hollywood Muppets 3D in Hollywood Dumbo The only thing I wanted to do but it was too cold was the Jungle boat ride. I also would have loved to spend a morning at animal kingdom but we didn't have time. DS said the pirates scared him and there were some scary parts in the movie ride but we just covered his eyes. He hasn't shown signs of scarring yet.
Oh and we did the character lunch at crystal palace which was nice but idk if it's worth $240 (4 adults, kids under 3 are free). We had to cancel our character breakfast Sunday after realizing the traffic was a mess from the marathon and we couldn't get to the resort. Next time we will definitely stay onsite at a Disney resort and also go on a weekend with zero events. I had the fast passes planned really well and we rarely waited for a ride, plus there were things for DS to look at when waiting. The only time DS cried was on the descent and landing on the plane ride- we tried to get him to chew gum or drink water and even gave him candy but he wouldn't take it.
I'm glad you had fun. It can get colder, so you got lucky. It's always fun to be at the parks when it's 20 and hear everyone complain. One of the things I've learned while living here, is to never listen to the weather people. Our weather is bipolar, so it's tough. How were the crowds? Saturday Epcot was empty.

MK was empty in the morning and evening because of the cold. We barely waited for anything, but we had fast passes so it didn't matter. I was disappointed DS slept through his Mickey fast pass. I tried to grab another one and it was for way later so we didn't do it. He wasn't very into the characters though.
I literally had a change of clothes for both kids (warm or cool) plus my baby wearing stuff and cool and warm baby blanket, then all the diapers and snacks and a soft cooler with drinks and water. It was warm until later at night.

I saw your fave guy too!
Did you get to talk to him? What was your favorite moment and/or ride?

No I just happened to be going to the bathroom. The line was all older women lol.
My fave was probably the Frozen sing along because it was last show of the day and we were front row and they were really interacting with us. And also the parade in MK. I had never rode Dumbo before either and surprisingly enjoyed it.
2 questions: My cousin just gave us a sit and stand stroller. Will that be okay for the parks and bus rides? It's pretty big. Also, what do I need fast passes for at Hollywood studios?

$240?! We have reservations there but I don't know if I can swing that. Are there cheaper options? We have 4 adults and 2 kids under 3.

I took two strollers that way each could lay and sleep in them and if the baby was asleep, DS didn't wake him. I also brought stuff to wear baby on the rides.
Fast passes at Hollywood- I would definitely do the Movie Ride, Toy Story Mania, and the Disney Junior show.
Definitely go see the Frozen sing along- it's a huge theatre so you shouldn't have to wait, just go at a show time. Indiana Jones is the same, just go 10 min before show time. On the Toy Story ride make sure to hold baby tight- it's very jerky.
Muppets 3D is great too but there's no wait. You could also use a fast pass for Star tours for you and your H- kids have to be 40 inches to do that.

It's crazy because when I read online it said lunch was $35/ person. The website said 30-60. So I was thinking 30 for breakfast 60 for dinner. It wound up being like $45/ person so $180 for 4 adults. Kids under 3 are free. Auto 18% gratuity plus tax and I know it was $240 as the bottom line.
How far in advance do you need to book fast passes? We're doing 2-3 days at Disney next October, staying on site but haven't booked anything yet
I think for non pass holders, you get to choose 90 days out. The things you absolutely need passes for are Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios. Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan at Magic Kingdom and Frozen at EPCOT. Everything else has minimal wait times or doable wait times, so after those FPs are set, you pick whatever floats your boat. If you want fast passes for the adult rides then definitely get Test Track and Soarin at EPCOT. Mine train, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain and maybe Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. Star Tours at Hollywood.

thanks. I think we'll only do MK and maybe Epcot so we'll book Mine Train, Thunder Mountain and maybe splash mountain, then day 2 test track and Frozen although DS couldn't care less about Frozen. H and I did Soarin a few years ago and thought it sucked, i feel like everyone else loves it! DS really loves to go fast so we'll be riding all the fast rides possible with him. He's 37" already so I'm hoping by next Oct he'll be 40"

Soarin is a tough one. It now features the world instead of Cali, not sure if that was around when you rode it. But the ride sucks depending on your seat, and I think that it's unfair. If you sit on the bottom, then you get a curved screen that messes with your eyes. I've never gotten the top seats, but hear it makes all the difference. Middle seats are good, but you have legs and feet obstructing your view. Concept is good, but it needs some changing.

that's interesting. We were there in Dec 2013 so i think it was just Cali and we had a bottom row seat. We were all pissed at having to wait in such a long line for it. Mission Space was awesome but it will be a long time before DS can ride that, i think he's get a kick out of Energy though, he loves dinosaurs

I've been told that you can ask for a top row seat, but every time I do, they say no. So, I think it's a conspiracy that I've never gotten the top. I usually get middle. This last time was DH's first time on the ride and we got bottom so I felt slighted. With the mine train ride, the cars you sit in rock back and forth, but you have to rock it with your body to get the actual effect.
If we aren't planning on using car seats on the airplane and you can't use them on the magical express, then I shouldn't need to bring seats at all, correct?
Disclaimer: I realize car seats are safer on the airplane, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it just for the plane.

If you think your DS will sit nicely for take off and landing and any turbulence then I'd skip taking the seat. My kid is 100% better behaved on the plane in his car seat though
