How far north are you footloose? It looks relaxing
It is a small town named Markdale. I am about half an hour from Owen Sound on this map. Clearly not nearly as far north as the other cities in northern Ontario.

My kid just begged for music in the car. He kept asking to change the music until we turned it to rap. He is currently very happy about it. I like all music, but this station is terrible.
I'm bored. H is sleeping, DS just woke up and doesn't want to go out in the rain and I've been in the house all day. I keep asking him if he wants to go to the lake but no 😔

Finally caught up more or less on the last week and a half. So very sorry for your family's loss, SpinsOffResonance. It sounds like you are handling it amazingly and being a great support for your H, kids, and other relatives. Though the partying bil&sil sounded confusing. But anyway like others said I hope you get some time to take care of yourself soon too. And I hope your h and his sibling(s) get along well enough and that things are set up so there won't be ugliness in dealing with his mom's property.
Not sure what to do as weather is going to be pretty rainy all week. I am starting off with my doctor's appointment in 2 hours though. Hoping for tests to figure out what is going on. Grab a coffee and probably head to the library as well. Play it by ear today I think.
I just found out the crown I had replaced will cost me $650 after my insurance. And I have to go back in July for a cleaning and the dentist already told me I will likely need two fillings.
SIL is due on Thurs and the baby's room is so cramped you can barely move, nothing is put away, and the carseat is still sitting on the floor being used as a container for more random shit and what is SIL focusing on? Painting stripes on the wall, of course. But she will not get on a ladder so the painter's tape only goes partway up. No pediatrician yet either.
microworm , I really hope they get their act together once the baby arrives. How can she not have a pedi yet?
She said her Ob told her that she didn't need one until 1 week after the baby is born because the hospital will have pedis.
This is actually how our hospital works. You see whatever pedi is on call after the birth and then the nurses help you choose and schedule the next pedi appointment.

I feel your pain. The last two trips to the dentist for fillings cost me about $400. Hate it.
microworm, wow, DD was seen the day after she got home. She was in the NICU for observation and almost had a longer stay so maybe we were seen earlier than other would have. I thought you brought your baby in to see a pedi within a few days of being home.

If it makes you feel better, I'm in never ending dental hell and my insurance has been maxed out since February.

I'm sorry. I find dental insurance to be somewhat useless. They didn't cover more because the coating on my crown is considered cosmetic? I guess the alternative was to have a silver tooth! I just finished paying off another crown/root canal from 2 years ago and now I have to start all over!

We didn't have a pedi when ds was born. We knew the clinic we would go to, but didn't pick the doctor until after birth. We actually picked our pedi based on her visit with ds in the hospital. It worked for us.

We didn't really have a pedi before dd was born either - though I had called and asked about it. But it's a rural area and really just one pedi practice in town and they are the ones who check on newborns in the hospital. So you only need to have something bset in advance if you're going to be speshul and go with someone farther away.
I'm guessing in Chicago the situation may be a little different though! Although maybe not because Seattle is also big.
Eta we went a ridiculous number of times those first 2 weeks. But dd had jaundice and wasn't gaining weight like they wanted and then also had an attached deer tick at 8 days. I have no idea what the normal visit schedule is.

It's a little different because SIL does not have a pedi practice in mind and the ones that will be at the hospital will most definitely not be the ones they would see routinely because she is delivering at a hospital that is not anywhere close to their house.
We knew the pedi practice we were going to use but not the specific pedi. It didn't matter because the pedi from that practice you see in the hospital is the one who is on call regardless of who you choose. We actually bounced between 2 pedis in our home office for the first 6 months before I picked one. Our pedi practice has about 15 doctors in 5 different offices so when DS is sick, he just sees who is available the soonest anyway so we are only guaranteed to see "his" pedi for wellness checks.

This is pretty much us too. But they work in teams so if the kids are sick and their pedi isn't available we see someone on her team!
Yea I'm not flaming her for not having her exact Dr picked out. We didn't either. I had a practice picked out. We go to a practice of 4 and DGAF which one I see. She has no idea where she is going to take the baby once it comes home.
