mom2xover2002 don't feel bad for wanting to exchange. People should know that is a possibility if they disregard the registry. I took back a lot of things from my baby shower because they were either double items or items I wasn't going to use.
I called out today for my follow up appointment to check on M's growth. It's nice I'm not at work but now I am just waffling around wondering what's going to happen today.
And on another note maddscientist that is why I am going to BRU today. I have a $200 gift card so it's not worth going elsewhere but their online store stinks IMO
It was soooo hard to get up and come to school today! My mind is just not into elementary music right now (shame on me for being a bad teacher!). Only 19 more school days until my leave starts. I want to stay at home and get things ready, even though there's not a lot that I can do; I need some muscle to help me.
Also, a teacher friend gave me a mobile that has the right colors for our nursery, but the wrong dangly animals... It was second-handed to her so there's no obligation to keep it intact. Would it be a huge deal/difficult to swap out the animals? I was wanting to make a mobile anyway with little felt fishies, and this might save me a few steps. Has anyone "remodeled" a store-bought mobile before?
mom2xover2002 - exchange. These days the only people who get upset about exchanges are older women. Bedding is like decor in your house. If you don't like it or it doesn't match it will be fine. Especially since it wasn't what was on your registry. You never know, maybe she went to get it last minute and it was sold out so she picked up the next one thinking you would return it.
Spam for me - I apparently didn't want to work today. I SWEAR I turned on my alarm today, but woke up to a "holy shit, it is too light outside for me to just be waking up!" moment. Yes, indeed. It was 7am and I am usually at work for 7am.
I'm also on team "don't want to go to work" this morning. My sub is pretty much ready to jump in whenever I'm ready to be done, I actually had to email her last night to make sure she wasn't planning to show up this morning. But the longer I stay now, the longer I'll be paid after the baby is born. I'm taking the rest of the year off regardless, but I'll run out of paid leave in April or May, so I'd rather wait a little longer if I can.. at least that's what I told myself this weekend. Not feeling that way this morning though! With all the contractions I was feeling this weekend, I'm also terrified that my water will break in front of a class of middle schoolers. Awkward.
Not counting today and my days off I have seven working days left! I can't believe I agreed to stay till the end of the month. If I was more than just fingertip dilated I'd stop, but if all of you can continue to work then I guess I can too. :/

A friend of mine who is a teacher had that happen, in front of her kindergarten class!! Try explaining WTF just happened to a bunch of 5 & 6 year olds - they all thought she peed her pants!

I just counted and I'm guessing I have 20 days or less of work left until baby is born, unless she's early or late. I have 1 vacation day I need to use I think.
Seeing that number makes things a little more manageable I think.

In front of kindergarteners, I think I would just say "yes, I had an accident."
I'm with you on the uncomfortable at work issue. Underwear is just stupid at this point, except that it holds my panty liner. I have to wear normal people clothes at work and I am really close to going into the bathroom and taking off my underwear. It is the most distracting and uncomfortable piece of clothing and there are none that are comfortable at this point.

Apparently my Moms neighbors found human remains, minus the head, in their attic. The couple that lives there now has been there about 5 years, before that it was an older lady, her daughter and her granddaughter since about the mid-1950's. We're thinking it has to be the daughters husband, because he mysteriously "ran off" at some point in the 70's. Talk about creepy, I spent a lot of time in that house!!

I'm pretty sure that's what she went with. But the kids were asking their parents a lot of questions!

Holy crap, that is super creepy. I have no idea what I would do if I found out there were human remains in the attic of the house I bought.

The girl that lives there now is someone I went to high school with. She is thoroughly creeped out! Her and her husband were getting ready to renovate the attic space into a master suite, they found the bones under a section of floor boards - right above their current master BR. Yikes.
When I was in middle school/HS, I used to help those older ladies out with their yard work and house work, so I spent a lot of time with them inside that house. I always got a creepy vibe, and I guess now I know why.

Rant: I had my dr appointment yesterday and I only progressed to 2 cm. Whaaaa! I've been feeling very crampy and heavy so I was hoping for better news. I don't want this for potentially two more weeks...but I know it'll happen when she and my body is ready.
BTDT question: Since i didn't get this far with my first, did you notice the baby's movements getting more subtle toward delivery? I don't feel those strong kicks anymore and it makes me nervous (even though my dr said any movement counts toward your "kick counts".
Yes, I am having a hard time determining baby movement. I am already having consistent contractions every 10 minutes. I'm a FTM and I had no idea these were contractions, they were not painful until yesterday. I figured the baby was just moving around. I thought my water was leaking so we went to L&D just to be sure and the nurse confirmed that I was having contractions. I have my appointment on Thursday to discuss baby movements on Thursday.

I feel like this kid won't stop moving since I've been having contractions.

I can't imagine dealing with that with kindergartners! I'm worried enough of it happening during rehearsal with my high schoolers, since I'm fairly certain next to none of them will remain calm if it were to happen. (I'm currently working most often with an all-female ensemble...they're already a little too squeal-y about the whole thing and if they go off, I'm not sure how well I'll keep my own anxiety in check.)
Last night I asked DH what he would do if my water broke right as we were sitting on the couch... his response "our floors are already ruined, your ass better roll off the couch and let it break on the floor!" ahhh, I feel so loved! But really I was wondering since DH is a carpet/upholstery cleaner and I didn't know how his machine would react to me SOAKING the couch cushion... I'd imagine it might be ruined...
I am also in the team "clothes no longer fitting" category... at this point I'm over is and not buying any more tops... you can deal w my stomach hanging out... if you're lucky I'll wear a long tank so you don't have to see my actual skin...

You will feel less movement at the end of your pregnancy simply because there's less room for the baby to move! If you get really concerned you can try drinking ice water or having something sugary, it usually helps to get them to move a little bit.

I am on team Don't Want to be at Work Today. It's getting harder and harder to stay focused when I want to mentally check out. The beginning of the week is always the worst, too.
Every time I try to type "Yay" on my phone it auto corrects to "yeasty." WTF. Gross.
TMI Confession time: During late 1st tri/early 2nd tri I went through a terrible bout of yeast infections. We'd get one cleared up and then it'd come back a few days later.
During this time my H said I was in "yeast mode" ... we had just watched this episode from "The League"

wirtlehm DH and I just had this conversation this morning about the couch. I put one of those big pads on the cushion incase it were to happen. I feel like I should be in a nursing home lol.

FFTC? I went underwear - less yesterday at home and was in a nightgown all day. At one point my 21 mo DS saw my crotch for 2 seconds while I was attempting to get off the floor.
He immediately came over and lifted my nightgown, pointed at my penis-less crotch and looked at me confused. Haha.

I asked DH about this too! I asked about the bed though. He was like "well, I would just clean it up, who cares?" which was not the response I was expecting at all. I thought he'd have the response yours did. I'm sure if I would ask him the same question in a couple days he'll change his tune though. I think he was just having one of his "I don't really care about anything right now, we're having a baby in a few weeks and I'm freaking out" moods.... Men!
Welcome to the I don't wanna work team, all. I've been a proud member for months! Boss is in Japan this week, so my motivation to show up for work is even lower. Another group of Japanese are showing up next week to discuss a new project with me, with me as a lead, I'm laughing my ass off here. I'll be like, hi! Great to meet you all and bye! Get your prototypes ready in 20 weeks' time then we'll talk. No, I won't be available to guide you thru any development decisions and you won't know if you're on the right track til I get back.
DH insisted that we have the mattress protector placed on my side of the mattress. Boy, this crap sucks. The material is not very breathable, my ass and back was drenched in sweat when I woke up to pee middle of the night. Ugh.
So much discussions about water breaking, here's cute one for you ladies.

so so creepy. I'm assuming they called the cops?
Yes - cops are involved now. They are in the process of pulling up all the floor boards in the attic.
