Morning! When does this teething business end? Sorry you are dealing with those nasty little belugas (teeth) bluedot and @mummypig Safe travels mamosey ! I can't believe you have been pumping and nursing non stop for your trip. Mom level up! @elf828 I agree with kella0708 about calling to check in before giving meds.
Pancakes with all my cookie butters. Yup. Then going dress shopping. Why do I do this to myself?
@ivedonethisbefore and carseat I think fabric stores like Joann's have classes you can take to learn the basics. Also YouTube is how I learn everything in life. I'm still scarred from you tubing birthing videos when I was 9 months pregnant. Some things you should learn in the moment...
Snow is on its way here too. Hoping I can sneak out this morning before it starts to hit party city for a couple of party supplies. That's my big plan for the day.
@elf828 I would just play it by ear and maybe give her a dose this morning before school if you feel she needs it.
L slept through the night (thank god), but I'm still so exhausted. The thought has crossed my mind to drop L off at XMIL's as planned, drop Lucy the boxer off to the vet as planned, and call out to come home and sleep. I couldn't...could I?
People boarding a plane are the most annoying. Why is it so hard?
Getting on and off planes with other people is the worst part of travel. My UO is that if you're stowing luggage overhead then you should be the last to board and the last to get off the plane. When we were flying to San Fran with B (three flights each way - oi) there was one leg that we just needed to get him off the plane. We had an hour to feed him and change him before the next flight and we were stuck standing there while people tried to get down their multiple suitcases. WTF, people. This lady who was a row ahead of us but had stored her bag a few rows back wanted us (and all the people behind us) to sit down so she could go get her bag. No, idiot. YOU sit down.

The nearest Joanns or michaels or hobby lobby is an hour. I've never tried to use a machine. I can hand stitch if necessary but it won't be pretty but I'd like to make things..like mevaroo

I think the hardest part is just getting it set up. Once the tension is right and everything's threaded, it is pretty straightforward and so much easier than hand stitching! You'll have to aw your first project

For learning to use a sewing machine, turn to you tube!
First, read through your manual. Focus on the threading, straight stitching, and reversing as well as the tension and stitch length. Don't stress too much about the tension and stitch length when you start.
Then go for it! Remember to put the foot down, which is a common mistake to start. When you start go forward three stitches, then back, then forward. That's your "knot". Now see till the end and do forward back forward again.

Yup! Once you figure out the set up, anything is possible... take some scrap fabric and practice stitches and speed with the pedal. Online tutorials are great. I used www.diaryofaquilter.com to learn basic quilting

Apparently the Ikea monkey lady got two new monkeys. I have questions. WTF? Where do you even buy monkeys? Should you have monkeys if you let your last one wander around the Ikea parking lot? What stylish coats will the new monkeys be sporting? And because it bears repeating, WTF?

Go sew a pillow today. Four straight lines!
Oh my God. The knot! That makes sense!
The first thing my grandma taught me was how to not have it all fall apart when you pick it up.
It's a useful tool.
DS likes to help me turn. Put the needle down into the fabric, raise the foot, and spin the fabric. Don't forget to lower the foot again.
Once you can do the knot and turn, most of it is straight lines and so pretty simple. I google if I ever have machine issues or just guess and see if it will work.
I was fortunate that my mom taught me to sew. She has a 1970s Singer that she still uses. A few years ago, MIL gave me hers, which is almost identical to Mom's . You all may have noticed that I hate change , so it was super-helpful not to have to learn a new machine.
We all had to learn to sew (by hand and machine) in Home Ec. Even DH. I'm guessing thats not in the curriculum anymore!
rondackhiker I didn't want to bump yesterday's thread, but that is adorable and creative! (ice skating)
I'm so grateful I learned to see, and I'm jealous of your old singer.
I'll take it being adorable and creative over risky and reckless!

Haha, my one question is, what is the IKEA monkey lady?
Oh!! It was a couple years ago and it happened in Etobicoke (west Toronto) but it made international news. A monkey wearing a little coat was found wandering around the parking lot at Ikea:
So the monkey was confiscated because you can't legally own monkeys here and she went to court to try to get him back. He's in a sanctuary now, I think.
Apparently she's moved somewhere else and bought two new monkeys, says the morning news.
@elf828 - if it were me I would have DC give her a dose. The past few colds DD keeps spiking fevers until it breaks and then she's fine. I'd rather her potentially have one dose she *might* not need than potentially be feeling cruddy.
hashtagrainbow - if you feel like you need a personal day and would feel recharged by one, then I think it would be a good idea to take one. Single parenting is no joke and if you have the opportunity to take some you-time I think you should. You've definitely earned it!!
Our new bedroom set came yesterday, with our new king size bed - it was like sleeping in a hotel room!!! I love our room so much now . I think as the kid(s) get older it will become our peaceful escape place. Eventually DH is going to build a window bench in one corner, too, as my reading sanctuary.

CANADA.
She flipped and said he was her baby and he needed her and wouldn't eat without her.
She made him wear clothes and diapers and treated him like a baby.
She was wailing on the news about his comfy bed and his need for snuggles while video of him bopping around happily at the sanctuary played in the background.
Right, rondack? And the kicker is that if she hadn't been neglectful then she'd still have him. Don't bitch about the monkey needing snuggles if you're leaving him somewhere he can wander around a parking lot.

I hope she loses the new ones too.
I almost wish one would bite her, but that's mean and would end poorly for the monkey.
bluedot I hope those teeth come through quickly. Poor T!
I have no idea how or why I'm at work. I have a packed schedule today but I feel like a zombie. A gagillion wakeups and my head feeling like it's in a vice is not a good combination.
I used to know how to sew. We actually had a Home Economics class in middle school that taught us how to sew (by hand and on a machine), how to cook, and how to use and balance a checkbook.
Yesterday someone was talking about baby nutragrain bars. What's the difference between baby nutragrain bars and wegmans brand grown up nutragrain bars? (Besides $2.) I can just give LO my nutragrain bar, right?

rondackhiker you make it sound so easy! Now I want to buy a sewing machine today!
