LO leaves daycare at 2 everyday and goes home with her Nana. At 1:50 yesterday I get a text from daycare saying she has a fever and can't come in today. What was her temp... 99.9. For her, that's her teething temp. Her doctor doesn't even consider that a fever. So now I'm at at home with teething monster baby who's upset I won't let her have my coffee.
And of course I love LO and love spending time with her. But 99.9?! With no other symptoms? Really?
What does your daycare policy say?
I've never heard of a daycare that considered that a fever. I'd read the policy manual.

That's weird. As long as his temp is below 100.3 and isn't showing any other symptoms, DS is fine to stay at and go to DC. I'd be pissed. What does your DC's sick policy state about fevers?
Just looked it up. It says a fever is defined as a normal temperature reading without fever reducing medicines. Vague much?
What?
So is 98.7 a fever? I'd call the director and discuss this.
I plan to. Luckily she's really nice, so I think she'll listen. As for today, I'm just going to enjoy the day off and maybe go get froyo. Cause this situation is deserving of froyo. And maybe sushi.
Good Morning F14! Just caught up, moving fast this morning!
Throw us in the teething sucks club, another rough night.
All this sewing machine talk makes me wish i'd paid attention in home ec back in middle school. At the time I was very mid-90's punk rock, i'm too cool for school, never getting married or having kids so I don't need to learn to sew. Maybe i'll try to find a second hand machine and give it a go. We have a JoAnn's about 5 minutes from home so a class would be easy to get to.

I would switch daycares if I couldn't get a set, reasonable temperature.
Seriously, I've had daycare teachers tell me they've worked at places where kids can have a 100 degree "fever" after coming in from running around on a hot day.

Medically 99 degrees is not a fever.
Maybe a dumb question.....but why are they even taking a temp reading? Is this routine? Or do they suspect a fever?
Sometimes I feel like places over temp and if it's a little above average they think it's a fever.
The button just popped off my jeans. So that's great for my self esteem. (In my defense, they're super low rise jeans I bought 5 years ago that I probably never had any business wearing.)
our DC has called and told us X had to be picked up because fever and when we get home and temp him, no fever. It's probably the most frustrating thing in the world.

Her teacher said she felt warm and was clingy all day. Ugh.
rondackhiker I can't switch. I mean I could, but I have a great deal. MIL who I love works there and take her home with her everyday so I don't have to pay for extended care. And I get a family member discount.

Sometimes I wonder if they do this on days when my kid is difficult so I'll come get him.
"Your baby has been clingy and only wants to be held today. Oh, and his temp is a little elevated -- he has a fever."
Ok dc. (I did ask them to call when he seems off. So they do. I might have to ask them to tone it down and only call when it's real, not when he's just acting like a, well, baby.)
Night 2 of sleep training went better. Not perfect, but I will take it.
Evie woke up with scratches all over her face and nose and near her eyes. She reopened the scabs in her ears so they were bloody.
I can't figure it out because she is 100% all day. No fussing, picking at ears and she barely has her fingers in her mouth.
Then at night she has pain cries. WTF baby?
I don't know if it's just because it's quiet or maybe being horizontal..... dd is the same with her eczema. She won't be bothered by it all day until it's bed time and it's a scratching frenzy. I'm glad there was improvement. I hope this trend continues for you!
DD has a fever (again). I just want our family to be healthy for awhile! It started out pretty low grade yesterday, but got worse . It was 101.2 last night before ibuprofen. DH is WFH today, so at least he'll be around to snuggle her and keep an eye on her. I guess I'm going to just see how she does for now, but I might put a call in just to talk to the nurse at the pedi office today. She's just had one thing after another since the beginning of December, poor girl.
As for sewing, my mom taught me how when I was little. I used to sit and watch her sew when I was around 3 or 4, so she started teaching me. My mom and I took a beginners quilting class a few years ago, so we both are really into that now, too. I agree that if you watch some videos and just start messing around, you'll find that's it's really not as intimidating as it seems!

That's frustrating.
I've never experienced it personally, but I have heard of daycares who try to get baby's temp up so they can send him or her home. Less work for them!
DS's first daycare I did ask they replace their thermometer because I'd pick him up to find no fever. When they compared the thermometer to three others, theirs ran two degree high.

Morning ladies!!! Happy birthday baby armfruit!!! And @paulhealth I'm glad to hear you guys are doing well! Minus Your mom of course.
So grandpa was in the hospital for over two weeks. He came home yesterday. Yay! And LO STTN until 5 which is a yay but also off bc he's been sleeping until 7-730 for the two weeks grandpa was gone. Except GRANDPA was up every hour hollering for me. He needed a pillow under his foot, then to know what time it was, then he wanted a pain pill. Then the pain pill wasn't the right one bc it wasn't working. Then another wake for "are you sure that was the right pill?" ....I'm exhausted. I'm glad grandpa is home and doing so much better but man I'm exhausted. Oh, and with every holler I was terrified LO was going to wake. ?
Now where is my big gulp at? I'm filling that thing with coffee.
@cattucino your HDBD pic? I die. She is so stinking cute!!! Are you going to send out Valentine's with that pic?
I know I'm leaving stuff out I had all intentions of commenting on but goldfish brain. I decided to take a Mental Health Day because exhaustion. L is with MIL and Lucy the boxer can finally be trusted without the cone of shame. As big of a pain in my ass that she can be, I luff her and am now one step closer to adopting her out to a family. FX her path results come back negative on the growths they removed! I should know by Monday, and then I can start interviewing families.
