Honestly, I'm kinda thinking that some of DH's current mood about TTC might stem in part from the fact that he didn't knock me up on the first shot last month. When we would talk about TTC before that he seemed so sure that he's guys would get the job done the first time around.

lennonkdc, I am thinking that is what's up with my DH too... It was fine when I was "broken" (my term not his) but it's like if his swimmers aren't gold medalists then somebody takes his man card away or something. I do get it to an extent because when I thought I might never see AF again I felt pretty inadequate myself. Still... grow up buddy.. I had to deal with it so do you. A baby is way better than keeping your ego in tact.

URMySunshine77, I only took Clomid so I can't comment on the others, but I noticed dizziness with Clomid for sure the days I was taking it. I didn't have any of the rage/emotional moments like many other women, but I've heard it can be brutal. HTH!

Last night I was talking to DH about getting his SA done and he made some dramatic statement about, but what if my swimmers are no good? I'd be no use to society, a waste of space...he was mostly kidding, but I was like, so wait, if I'm the broken one, is that how I should feel?!
One of his friends who he is always competitive with get KU right away and I think he's feeling inadequate. I try to explain that it just doesn't work that way but he's not hearing it. Plus, if we're counting...all of my friends except those cbc have kids already, not all came easy but all happened, of course...who's counting.
(I am sort of glad he said what he did bc I knew part of his hesitation is his fear of finding out something's "wrong" with him and even though it was kind of jokey, I'm glad he at least said something. I told him there is a ton they can do even if there is something "wrong," on his side, so I hope if he hears that enough he'll believe it.)

@wannabmama23 I think you should tell him they send them to Olympic training except in the Olympics drugs are allowed so who knows, he could end up with super hero swimmers when they are done. Way better than all the other boys. lol

URMySunshine77 - I've taken both clomid and femara. I was ragey (serious wanted to punch anyone who looked at me) on clomid and had headaches. It also thinned my lining. Femara was way better for me. Headaches were the only side affect. They were manageable.

This was my experience too, along with horrible hot flashes from Clomid. I had a hot flash on a cold late autumn day in the middle of Barnes & Noble, and I had to run outside and whip off my shirt in the parking lot because I thought I was on fire.  Good times.

I have another question. What is the partner's time commitment and timing in a IUI?

Would my husband have to go to the clinic and give his sample the morning after I get a positive OPK? Do I get the IUI directly after the sample submission? Would we have sex the day of the pos. OPK and then the day after the IUI?

I can't remember if you're doing a medicated IUI? I've only done medicated IUI's so can only tell you how mine went. 36 hours after I triggered DH and I had to go in. DH would have the first appointment to give his sample. Then they would wash the sample and prepare it for IUI. This general too an hour to an hour and a half. Then I had my appointment where the IUI was done. I know some people have a little different protocol with their RE so not sure if this helps at all.

Forgot to add that my husbands part was only as long as it took him to give a sample. He always stayed for the actual IUI though.

I often get OPK+ and - in the same day. Which do I record on my chart?

Example: this morning it was +. Tonight, -. This is day 3 of + but thats not unusual for me.

Tues: + at night.
Wed: + morning (no night test)
Thurs: + morning, - at night.

My acupuncturist says that only the first positive OPK counts. I would mark a positive on each day but only count the first one as valid.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't decided whether or not I will do a plain medicated or Medicated with IUI for next cycle. We need to get DH's SA first.

I can only tell you my experience:
The docs will trigger you and tell you when to come in, I THINK its 24-48hrs later.
DH can "produce" a sample at home or at the office.  (I crack up just typing that terminology!)
DH did his at home, and he could have just sent me in with the cup and gone bout his day.  You have to get to the office within 90min of producing or something, I can't remember.

Anyway, he went with me.  They took his cup, they wash the sample, you get scoped.  Once the sample is ready, they do all that awful cervix clamping and turkey baste you.  You sit there for a few minutes, letting the romance of it all sink in.   You go home.  Probably 1 hr or less total.  My final IUI was longer because they were busy that day and I had to wait about 45min in the waiting room.

My doc did NOT recommend sex starting 3 days before my IUI.  Ask your doc what he/she thinks.

I think you got some good feedback here. I'll just tell you my experience. Once I had a mature follicle, my doc told me exactly what time to trigger and then scheduled my IUI 36 hours later. MH went first to give his sample and then I went in about an hour later. He stayed with me during the actual procedure which took about 10-15 minutes.

I believe they told us to abstain for three days prior to the IUI but we didn't stick to that. Needless to say, that was our lucky cycle.

Hi URMySunshine77!  You've gotten some good info, but I thought I'd add in my experience.  Having not cycled since MARCH, I think I still remember (sense my sarcasm? I'm feeling a bit frustrated this week).  

My RE tells me when to trigger based on my ultrasound.  I trigger between 6-8pm.  Hubby and I have sex that night.  Then, we do IUI about 36 hours later (morning of second day after trigger).  My hubby goes in and gives his sample at 7, 8, or 9am and then I have IUI 2 hours after.  They do the washing and spinning in those two hours.  I don't know if my RE always recommends sex the night of trigger but my hubby's numbers are always really good on IUI day, so that could be why.  Our most recent IUI, my hubby had to get to work, so he did the 7am appointment and was on the road to work by 7:10.  I went in at 9 by myself for the IUI.  All the others, he came with me.  I haven't experienced the "cervical clamps" - the IUI for me is just like a pap - insert speculum, insert catheter, inject semen, remove catheter and speculum, lay there for 15 minutes.  Easy peasy.  I wish it would work....

It's almost becoming our own FAQ. Lol. I would take my temp in the afternoon and see of it shows 98.6 or at least higher than am temp If it clearly changes is not the thermometer. I know this because I blamed my thermometer during my never ending cycle.... mine was me, but it's always good to check the thermometer too.

When my thermometer seems "stuck" on a certain temp, I always stick it under my tongue for a few seconds to get it started and then take it out so it reads out a low temp. It seems to "reset" it. Or maybe I'm fooling myself, but it gives me control.

Repeated temps do not bother me actually I expect them/ means stable hormones and good sleeping pattern, but Only if I temp later/different time of day and the temp is higher or different.

For the ladies that use OPKs, do you test at the same time every day? I know that they say that the best time for OPKs is in the afternoon but I work and can't see how I could test while I'm at work. Do anyone do that? I have been testing since CD11 and am currently on CD18 and still haven't turned a test positive. I normally have a 27-28 day cycle so I would think I should have detected the surge by now. I usually test before I leave for work at 6:45am and then around 6:15pm after I get home. I'm trying to figure out if I could have missed by surge or if I may have a really short luteal phase.

sleepymonkey, I think MissMusic told me that it's recommend to test twice a day if you can, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, in case you have short surges. I know I used OPK's last month and never got a + (I tested once a day, right after work, around 5 PM) but my BBT clearly showed that I O'ed. I decided to not use them since the temps and CM were better indicators for me. HTH!

I'm at work by 7:30am so I have been trying to figure out how I could test discreetly while at work. I feel weird camping out in a stall for 5 minutes but the OPKs are not exactly easily portable when you have to keep them flat. I didn't have this much trouble when TTC #1. I easily got a +OPK each month and had no problems with CM. What a difference 2 years makes!

So I read lots of conflicting information about that. I have always used first morning to test and get negatives and positives exactly when I'd expect. The Clear Blue kit I bought suggests using the first urine of the morning, is it different depending on manufacturer?
