lennonkdc I had an HSG that seems like it was a little more painful than average (I had horrible experience getting my mirena and both IUIs have been painful, too...my body loves to cramp). I took Advil before as directed by the doc. It was a little painful but over in a second. I went to work after and was fine. I can't remember if I drove or took the train, I think I drove...either way as soon as it was over it was mostly NBD. Even the painful part was maybe a 5 on 10pt scale, maybe a bit more...but again...over in a blink and most people seem to have pretty mild discomfort.
TTC since July 2014. CP March 2015. IVF #1 March 2016, 5R, 3M, 2F with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3. CP. Surprise BFP and then CP August 2016 (prep cycle for IVF). IVF #2: zero eggs retrieved IVF #3: 6R, 5M, 5F, 3 (2 8A and 1 11A) transferred, one "B" graded embryo frozen on day 5. BFP (at home 7dp3dt, confirmed 14dp3dt with 1552 beta) and U/S at 5w5d, 2 sacs and 2 yolks!
Talk to me about HSGs. Have you had one? Was it horrible? Should I have someone drive me? Dr. Google has me feeling nervous...
I had one a few weeks ago. I originally planned to drive myself (two hours each way!) but my husband ended up taking off work and coming my with me. Honestly, I would have been fine to drive anyway because I had very little pain afterwards.
I made the mistake of googling the morning of and cried. People are dramatic and crazy. It wasn't that bad. I even had a particularly difficult procedure because I've had a vaginal birth and apparently that makes it hard for the dye to go where it needs to and they had to cath me twice. Even with that, the pain wasn't too bad and it was super quick.
They recommended I take 800 mgs of Advil about an hour prior to the exam. That seemed to help. Sending you hugs. The stress was way worse than the procedure itself.

This is a question for those of you who see an RE. I was looking in to it and realized that there is only 1 RE in my town. He is rated pretty well but I don't know if that is just because he's pretty much the only option. I live an hour away from Orlando so there are a lot more options there. Is it worth it to research RE's that are 1+ hours away or would it be better to just stick to the one option close to home? I work FT if that make a difference.
sleepymonkey, We just went with the one my MW referred me to, who was in network. I'd start with the local RE, if you like him/her, then great. If not go outside the radius for a second opinion.

This - and especially 'feel out' the nurses who work with the RE. I saw the RE twice trying for #1, but talked with the RN at least twice per month. So far this time, I've seen the RE once, and still talking with the RN at least twice per month. If I didn't love Marlene (RN) (and Louann who covers for Marlene's weekends off) I probably would have tried to find another RE office.
There are only a handful of offices in my state, and none were less than 45 minute drives, so I chose the one that was across from my work to make life easier. Stuck with them for this time because familiar (eventhough it's a different MD, the RNs are the same).

My RE's office is one of the "best" in my area, but I am also looking at a different RE in my area. I am looking at the other RE because OOP is cheaper at her office. I love my RE but the nurse was the main person that I had to most interaction with. Imo my nurse made a big difference in good or great care. My fav nurse is no longer working at my RE's office and the back story shocked me but that is another story. I was super sad when I found out she left but her replacement seems okay. Good luck finding the RE that fits you best.
Ok, just saw that my AMH levels were posted to my patient portal. I have a level of 4.04 ng/ml. So far Dr. Google is telling me thats high for women under 35 (like in the PCOS range) but nothing about a normal range for women over 35. I'll call my RE tomorrow, but do you ladies have any insight? I'm gonna be an obsessive googler till I talk to the nurse...
Just wanted to say I've learned a lot looking over this thread! I'm thinking of asking my OB for a referral to a RE when I have my annual appointment later in January. My OB had me try Metformin/Clomid the first time around when we were trying for #1, but none of the Clomid cycles took and I'm really hesitant to do Clomid again (I read all the stuff about it after taking it the first time.)
How influenced is vaginal temp by a fever? I've got the start of a nice triphasic graph going but for the two days with temps in the new "phase" I've had a fever of 100+...
Hope you're feeling better hammysmommy? I don't know how oral vs. vaginal temps would differ in sensitivity to a fever bit I think both would probably detect you're sick. Hope it doesn't mess with your chart to much...
hammysmommy, it will go up... the only reason VT is better for some is it eliminates lower temps from mouth breathing. Hate when a fever messes with the chart. I got all excited because I thought I O'ed... never had a fever but had a sore throat and temp went back to normal. UGH. Sorry you feel bad, hope you get better soon.

So I hope you ladies don't mind me resurrecting an old post. I had a quick question about baseline ultrasounds. I've had the Clomid checks with my OB (so not fun to get poked and prodded with AF), so I'm generally familiar, but how long does it last? I'm guessing they're just checking the ovaries to make sure there are no cysts, etc? Do you just wear a tampon to the appointment and then take it out right before the u/s? Just generally wondering what to expect.
summergirl1211, no answer for you because they skipped that for me. (I'd actually call and ask but will be looking for everyone's answers) but wanted to say, I like that you resurrected the thread. I actually went back through it recently because I remembered someone had asked the question.

Has anyone had to take medicine for elevated prolactin levels? Which one did you take and did you have any issues? How long did it take to notice a difference? I guess mine came back high, and the nurse is calling in a medicine to my pharmacy. It was after hours when she called (and I didn't get to the phone in time) so I can't call back until tomorrow to get more info. I'm just curious what others' experiences have been.
