Sorry I haven't updated lately Jackson has been doing very well and steady and then I got sick and missed a whole week with him because the nurses didn't want me possibly passing it on. And of course, while I was out sick he had a major advancement. Jackson is now on high pressure oxygen! No more cpap! I'm so excited he's been steady over the past few days, hus pressure is at 4.5 and his oxygen is at 40. A little high but the nurses say thats typical once he really starts to settle in it will go down.
Edited becuse I ment to say NOW on oxygen not NOT.

Sorry I haven't updated you all on a few days I've been running around like a ceazy person trying to get the house and nursery done. Well baby Jackson had a couple ruff days this past week but nothing to bad. He had a blood transfusion a couple days ago his heamagloben dropped from a 9.3 to an 8 not terribly low but he was having a hard time and not making red blood cells quick enough so they decided to give him the transfusion. He was all out of sorts after poor baby couldn't get comfy and relax no matter what that night. Since then he's been doing awesome, they were able to lower his pressure from 4.5 to 4 and the nurse last night was able to wean his oxygen down to 28 at one point. So the transfusion is helping him alot. Today he had a bit of a bloody nose from the nose prongs scraping the inside of his nostrils from sneezing (from the air blowing in his nose) which was making him sneeze even more than normal today. Poor guy. Just can't win that fight. At least not just yet he'll get prongs out eventually though.
He broke the 5 pound mark! He weighed in at just under 5lb 3oz today he lost a few grams each night the last couple nights but nothing drastic that and his nurses don't seem worried about it. He's getting better at sucking on his pacifier and is starting to smile more. He'll be ten weeks old this week, seriously where did all that time go?
Also you can't see it in the picture but his eye color is starting to come in, or lighten up I guess so you can see a difference between his iris and pupils. So far is a dark brown/grayish color with some blue thrown in there. Im interested to see what happens but at the same time they are so pretty I want them to stay the way they are.

10 weeks? Wow! And that's great about the 5 lbs!!
Sorry to hear about the rough few days, but I'm really happy to hear he's doing better again!! I love how alert he always is in your pictures - he's such a cutie!

Well Jackson had a mostly good day today. His pressure is steady at 4 liters per minute and his oxygen has been pretty steady at 30 percent. He had a check up from his ophthalmologist today. The doctor said he has all the signs of retinopathy. Basically his eyes are growing too many blood vessels around the retina and they are starting to bleed. This is mainly because he has been on oxygen for so long. It goes hand in hand. He will need laser surgery in the next few day to head off greater problems. He is going to be transferred to a different hospital for the surgery and then in a few days come back to St. John's. We're definitely feeling a little anxious about the whole situation but we're happy they caught it early before permanent damage was done. If left unchecked he could be blinded. The surgeon that does the surgery is one of only four in the country that does it and he's here in Michigan. We are grateful that he's close! We hope they can get it done and have him back in his "home" hospital without any extended stay since we really like this hospital.

lovetruly2015... Glad it was caught early and being taken care of quickly so you don't have to worry too long. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and he gets back to his "home" base quickly.

Well Jackson is back at home base his surgery went well, he'll have yo have a follow-up with the eye doctor in a week. The have a doctor on the nicu so he wont have to go back to the other hospital for that. The decided to intubate him for the surgery so he's working his way back down to the high flow oxygen and should be back on that by tonight. They knocked him the fuck out. I don't know what they gave him but baby boy has been sleeping since which is why he's not back on oxygen yet they where able to put him on the cpap this morning so hes coming around.
The problem was caught so early that there was no permanent damage done to his sight and he shouldn't need anything more done but only time will tell. We're extremely happy to have him "home" and doing well. And can't wait for snuggle time.
Edited because i can't internet this early apperently.

Well Jackson is pushing forward they are trying to bring his cpap down again. The NP is hoping to have him back on the high flow in the next couple days. Last night poor guy just wasn't having it, he was so uncomfortable with the cpap and he let us know it. He's not cried like that before, it was the first time DH and I couldn't calm him within a couple minutes. I felt so helpless at that moment. I'm just so ready for him to come home.
That must be hard to watch him being upset lovetruly2015. Have they given you any estimate of when he might come home, or is it just dependent on hitting the milestones?

No they say in general to expect it to be around their due date but it all depends on him. They have developmental markers they have to hit. Like he has to be able to eat from a bottle and a few other things oncr he gets all that down then they'll send him home.
