Well, tonight I go in for induction. So far I spent most of the morning having a panic attack. Then I finally calmed down enough to shower and go out to lunch, but I was so nervous I only ate about a third of my food. I am not handling my emotions nearly as well as I had planned.
I'm officially paranoid about where my water may break. Like, on the bus? At work? I was on the trolley (subway) earlier and felt unsettled, nervous and was having a lot of pressure on my cervix. So, of course I was like "oh god - how embarrassing would that be??"
I've read about the chancea of a major gush. I know the odds are in my favor that this won't happen. But the odds are not always in your favor!
kokopelli post partum unit gave me syringes to put the colostrum into after pumping in the bottles so when I didn't have enough to even transfer into the syringe, I just washed the pump parts. There went two sessions before NICU told me I could just put it on a cotton swab head!
I wish they would have told me that. I did the same thing and didn't save anything until I could put it in a syringe.
Well we finally got to come home today!! It's so nice to be in our own house minus my beyond horrible back pain holy ugh did not anticipate this as a side effect

DH went back to work today & DD1 starts kindergarten this Thursday, so we're getting into a routine. It's really nice & is going better than I'd expected. Except that I ate DS' discarded grilled cheese sandwich crust and baby carrots for lunch, because DD2 likes to nurse at inconvenient times, and wakes up very angry if I set her down. Do any of you have suggestions for foods I can literally just grab and eat with 1 hand? I think maybe fixing a cold lunch the night before might be the answer?
And I too often think about where and what I'd be doing if my water were to break joy! It's so funny that they say only 10% of women have water breaking on their own - I feel like I know so many ladies IRL where their water broke on their own, my mom included!
You got this, bocaburger! Also, try to eat before you go in. It might be a while before they let you eat again (although they allowed me to eat anytime I wasn't being given meds).
Discouraged. I'm still high and closed. My doctor actually said "woah" at how high he had to reach. Great...
I'm also losing weight and still measuring wayyy small. So despite the baby measuring in 60th percentile at my last growth scan, I have another on scheduled for Wednesday. Fingers crossed I deliver before I need that scan!

Apparently my kids have named this baby. DD1 has been pretty adamant on one of our top choices for months (and she told the ILs it was her favorite). DD2 keeps picking up the swaddle blankets I just washed and declaring "Crib! [Name]!"

Glad you're getting into a routine!
What about cheese sticks or yogurt tunes? That would be some quick protein. Sometimes i splurge on the pre-cut veggies and fruit because i know i will eat it. I am also not above eating those applesauce/fruit pouches meant for kids:)

Yes! When you know what time your induction is, it's such a good idea to eat before. Even if you can eat while in labor, you might not feel inclined to. Mine didn't let me eat after starting epidural and I was still in labor for ~6 hours after that.

My mom tells me that the way this baby moves (big stretches over kicks) was what I did. So, of course when she says that her water epically breaking was her first labor sign for both me and my sister, I was all 😳😳😳.
