No baby for me today. Whatever was leaking stopped after 5-6 hours and by the time I got to L&D (wanted me in because I'm GBS+) they couldn't find anything. I'm pretty annoyed and I have a wicked headache from being up most of the night last night. Since I was there and not leaking amniotic fluid I asked if they could strip my membranes. Everything was too closed to even attempt. I'm offically over this. Due date was August 1st and I have to go to the 14th!
L&D was full here too. They had room in triage, but all of the delivery rooms were completely packed.

bocaburger I'm sorry that sinks, maybe just plant yourself in the labor and delivery department untill they get tired of you and decide to induce just to get you out of their way?
So I had my 38 week appointment today. Pretty standard appointment, but got some good news. I'm 2cm dilated and 50% effaced! I know that means it could be today or next month, but DH and I have both had a feeling for the past weeks that she is going to come on Wednesday. That is also MILs birthday so it would be pretty cool for dd1 to have her dad's birthday and DD2 to have his moms.

All of these delayed inductions... Crazy! Just curious everyone having them canceled at the last minute are you all in major citys? I've never head of this here, and am worried I'll go into labor and they won't have room for me. I'm defintly not in a major city, heck I'm not with in 250 miles of a major city. (Major city 1million people)
countrycotton not major city but we had a lot of cancelations out there. Oil isn't the only thing that can boom in a boom town I remember once they had all beds full and we had laboring women in er. I'd be so pissed to labor in er but I was praying they didn't send any to pediatrics. DNW as a nurse. Plus it is the busiest time of year. I feel for all of you ladies with bumped inductions!!
A few days ago, there was talk about baby friendly birth centers. Since baby is in NICU, he is essentially in a nursery. Although no one wants their child in a NICU, having nurses/doctors take care of him so I can rest a bit more has been nice. With DD, staff kept coming in through the night to do tests on her and I was just so tired. So I can now understand why nurseries can alleviate stress for new parents!
I'm with some other ladies - I cannot believe all these delays. I feel like both times I've given birth the L&D unit has been fairly empty. I couldn't imagine it being jam packed. Maybe it really is the time of year? I hope all of you get in soon. How frustrating and disappointing.
countrycotton my hospital is in San Francisco so definitely a big city, but also lots of other hospitals that people deliver at. I believe we got the last L&D room on Saturday. Here, the moms go to post partum rooms after delivery and they said there was lots of overflow last week to another floor in the hospital.

So your saying it could happen here?!? Now I'm afraid to go into spontious labor and bring stuck in an er. Your old town had better/more hospitals than we do, if it can happen there than I guess it can here as well.
countrycotton, I don't live in a major city (but a decent sized one) and L&D was full when I had DD3 and they were sending people to deliver at another hospital. I had DD1 in a different city/hospital, and they were full and women were delivering in triage.
Both babies had August due dates, so maybe there really is something about this time of year!
countrycotton you will be fine! Those three hospitals serve a large area including the neighboring state. I don't think anyone actually delivered in ER, just labored.
joy, with ds1 my water did gush but it was contained. I woke up in the middle of the night to pee and when I went to the toilet it all came out - I realized after that I did feel a pop when laying in bed. With ds2 they ended up breaking my water at 7 cm in the hospital.
The l&d floor has been super busy both times for me. With ds1, my doctor and most of the nurses abandoned me the second ds was out and deemed healthy because there were so many other births. With this one, all post partem rooms were taken, so we stayed in a labor room turned post partem room. The nursery was open one night but not the second. My doctor told me ahead of time thst they are always really busy in the summer and to expect any scheduled inductions to get bumped.
