Same here tincupchalice. DS won't stay on his tummy anyway for tummy time now that he can roll.
When do people start using the exersaucer/jumperoo? I didn't use it a lot with DD since she preferred being worn but DS seems to want to move a lot more and the floor may not cut it once he gets a bit more mobile.
DD wasn't ready for the exersaucer. She was overwhelmed and couldn't really figure out how to reach the toys. I hope to put the Jumperoo together soon and try that!

Exersaucer wasn't a thing we used until DS1 was about 5.5 months old. I eagerly had it put together at 4.5mo and it was a no go before 5.5mo and a major win by around 6.5mo!

OK, this probably is a really silly question. The diaper ruffle/flap things around the legs ...when you change the diaper do you turn those in or out? I've been turning them in (thinking it'll contain the poop better that way). I haven't had much of an issue with doing it that way. But MH always felt strongly that the flap thing should go out. Then this past weekend we were at his parents place and MIL said the flap should go out. MH was like "See, I told you!" But somehow logically my way makes more sense to me. IDK!
Uterine fibroids (removed by robotic myomectomy 11/14) and past removal of L ovary/tube d/t ovarian torsion (4/99). New diagnosis of endometriosis (5/15)

Who's right? How do you do it?
They should be out. They contain poop better fanned out.

Thanks ladies! I was wrong on this one. Lesson learned
You have a DD right? I've found that it actually makes no difference with my DD but with DS those flaps had to be out or poop went everywhere. My non-expert opinion on this is that the boy bits stop the poop from going up the front so it goes out the sides where girl poop can go in more directions. I clearly have thought about this way too much...

My DDs poops were always 823625 times more epic than any of DSs.

Agreed! My DS was just more likely to blow out the sides where DD goes up the front/ back. I would take one of DSs blowouts over DDs any day!

I'm a little behind in here but we've been using the jumparoo since about 3 months... I didn't think to use it with him but we were at my BIL house and our nephew had one up so I tried him in it and he loved it! So when we got home I put it together and it's a huge hit! At daycare they can't put them in it until 6mo which kinda sucks but oh well.
I don't do tummy time a lot ... I did at first but he hates it and just puts his face in the ground and screams so I don't really see the point & he has zero interest in rolling over.
helloerrbody I know you asked like forever ago but Ry loves this toy and I think will like it even more as he becomes more mobile
teraiin, I'm not sure if I would count it as tummy time, but we definitely limit the amount of time spent in the circle of neglect, since it's effectively a crotch dangler and not the best thing for the hips.
Tummy time is good for more than just neck strength. It also develops the curvature of the spine from a C shape to an S shape that is necessary for future gross motor development. Also encourages baby to develop the arm and leg strength necessary for crawling or scooting. Also allows babies to develop more accurate spatial awareness and kinesthetic awareness when their bodies can move without restriction. I love baby wearing and yes to the benefits there. I know I'm in the minority on this but I don't find seated toys helpful to child development at all.
In case anyone was wondering it's not my intention to replace tummy time with the exersaucer/jumperoo/sit me up. I was just wondering since I always read about how other things "count" as tummy time if those devices do as well.
k3am for sure, I think DS doesn't spend longer than ten minutes or so at a time in them. Of course since we introduced them he seems to have less patience for being on his belly but I'm hoping that gives him more incentive to start working in pushing himself up so he can look around.

+1 on this. We use the circle of neglect sparingly (and i'm sure with two it will be more) and only starting around 5.5mo if that early since he's so little. Tummy time also strengthens abdominal muscles and the lower esophageal sphincter which helps reduce (and ultimately eliminates) reflux! Whereas seating decreases the use of the abdominal muscles and weakens or delays sphincter maturation.

Another +1. Although with a toddler I'm sure I'll be using these devices more than I did with ds1. In fact I just bought a sit me up chair.

DD lives on her tummy now like 60% of her day by choice so this explains why the reflux and spitting up stopped! Interesting!

We never bought an exersaucer with A and don't plan to buy one with Cam either. During the week we aren't home for very long before bedtime anyway so it's not really needed to keep him occupied. I'd much rather have him scooting around on the floor. And we do have a chair to put him in while we're working in the kitchen- he loves to sit up and watch us work!
Can we talk about cold weather gear? I know, I know who wants winter but I'm curious what to dress ds in. It can get pretty cold here and I know you need to be careful that clothing doesn't interfere with the car seat....
So snow suits? Mittens? I know hats and mittens are essential but if he's not going to be outside much and he's too young to be out playing...is a snow suit necessary?

I was just thinking about this today! I have to take her back to IN for Thanksgiving, so I'll probably need more winter great for that than for here.
