DD didn't go to bed until after 11:00 and woke me up at 1, 2, 4, 5. Wth. So tired. I didn't think there was a 16 w growth spurt!
Spurt or 4mo sleep regression. I'm a broken record, I know. Read the book. Probably time to let her fuss a bit! She should be able to sleep 8-10hr. Eat, sleep another 2-4.
So is the theory that babies sleep like shit when they're in a leap? I know not everyone pays attention to it, but I downloaded the WW app and can't help but read to see if it's accurate. It is pretty accurate in where she is developmentally right now. It shows she's in leap 3 and her sleep isn't as great as it had been. Woke up crying around 12. Now I see her fussing and whining on the monitor for the last hour (since 3) - but she hasn't cried and eyes are closed (I haven't gone in so far). Go away leap 3! ...or whatever it is that took away my baby's 6-8 hr stretches.
Uterine fibroids (removed by robotic myomectomy 11/14) and past removal of L ovary/tube d/t ovarian torsion (4/99). New diagnosis of endometriosis (5/15)

Poor sleep always seems to line up to leaps for me. I don't know if they necessarily cause it but it makes me feel better to be able to blame "soemthing"
westiemom sorry for the rough night. We had a rough night here too. I also didn't go to sleep until about 11, and Cam only woke up once but was up 2:30-4:30. I finally had to mute the monitor and let him cry. My alarm started going off at 5:30. Today is a long day full of meetings. I don't know how I'll survive. I NEED more than 3.5 then 1 hour naps! I'm thinking I'll just plan to mix the milk I pump today with another days milk and drink LOTS of coffee! babycaps I am reading the book! It's helped a lot and he's getting way better. I don't know what his deal was. I'd leave him for up to 15 mins and he'd get himself so worked up he'd be purple crying.

I have read the book and try to let her fuss. Unfortunately, she is more stubborn than me (hard to imagine). I let her fuss from 9pm-11pm and she was fine. Middle of the night I feel bad for my DH and probably grab her too soon. I need to move her to her own room but I'm waiting until next week since DH parents will be here this weekend and the guest room is next to the nursery.
Letting her fuss during naps never works. She goes from fine to hysterical and not breathing in like 2 seconds. She is fiery like mama!

Leap 3 was awful for us!!! My app says we start leap 4 in 2 days. I think maybe we started yesterday! Lol

I think I'm gonna have to break out the full strength coffee today. So sleepy. DS takes forever to get to sleep and then was up a few times last night. Working from home is too hard right now, my nice warm snuggly bed is calling my name....

I could never let DS just fuss/cry until he tired out. He would work himself up too much. It seems like DD is following in his footsteps. We did a controlled crying method. It's another method that I found more helpful for my stubborn child. If he started crying, we set a timer for 3 minutes. If he was still crying at the 3 minute mark we went in and gave him his paci and told him good night. If he stopped crying before the 3 minute mark, the timer restarted. The first time it took almost an hour, the next night it was less than 30 minutes, and the third night we went in only once. We are going to start this with DD once she reaches 4 months and is no longer swaddled. She's unable to self soothe if she's still "trapped".

We are also getting to purple cry. So we are going to do more of a Ferber/check ins. The tough part is going to be the 3am wake up. I think DH needs to also get out of the room.
Ok I took a power nap and I'm back to work. Still will probably grab some coffee in a bit. I'm just gonna work through my pumping and lunch breaks in order to get my hours.
Hugs to everyone else that is sleepy today. I'm thankful for the quick nap but it was so hard to make myself get back to work!!

Rough night in our house last night too. Down at 7, up at 11, 1, and 2-4. I might have to do some reading because work is brutal today. I'm ok on little sleep but last night I don't know that I ever actually slept lol.

Lo woke up only twice but the toddler woke up scream crying at 12 so I flew out of bed so that he wouldn't wake up the baby. I feel like my new normal is tired. My eyelids are always heavy these days. Maybe I won't even notice when I go off my thyroid meds before the RAI.
Am I the only one who isn't trying to sleep train? My kid naps in his swing and sleeps At night in his bassinet swaddled. I have no desire to change this currently.

CattyNattyRN, the WW app is the "wonder weeks" app. It tells you when you kid is going through developmental leaps. I don't use it because I feel like then I am just going to anticipate stuff unnecessarily. But a lot of people like it and it was helpful when our DS1 was a bit older and started "acting out" for us to understand a little bit more what was going on.
mrssqueegy, If it's working, don't change it! Part of the reason I am sleep training (although it has been MUCH easier this time around bc he's easier to fall asleep), is because once I go back to work, I NEED my night time sleep. I can go occasional sleepless nights, but I need good nights of sleep in order to work well. I don't think you have to go back to work for a while yet? And if your babe is sleeping to your satisfaction, that's all that matters! right?
