Sakinah he may be biting/exploring the sensation of what it's like having a tooth. I remember with DD, her having teeth was fine. She did bite a few times and one time drew blood, but it wasn't generally an issue. Good luck!

Drew blood! Oh no! Lol I hope to avoid that if possible. I think you are right about the exploring. He runs his tongue across it all day. Its really cute until it's time to nurse again. I've been putting him in "time out" when he bites. I say ouch loudly and take him away from the boob for 10 secs. Hopefully he will relate the biting with being taken away from the food source soon.
This is how I managed biting with my older two (although they were like 9 or 10 months before they realized they could bite with the teeth that came in at 6 or 7 months...so a lot older). I actually set DD2 on the floor since she didn't get it at first. The biting stopped quickly.
I remember it took DD2 a short while to relearn her latch with each new tooth, but it was fine.
TTMA about blocked milk ducts and decreased supply. My breast is no longer tender but the past two days while pumping that side has produced less an ounce between two pumps. It was always my underachieving side, but usually could get my 2 ounces each pump.

This happened to me too on my underproducer side after having clogged duct followed by mastitis back in sept. Usually produced 2oz and went to only .5oz. I think I pumped that side alone extra after the regular pumping session so even though no milk was coming out for several min, it reminded my body more is needed and it eventually came back

Ok I'm going to try that next time I pump. I've also been trying to let DS start on that side to help it catch up.
Are any of you still hungry all the time? Yesterday I had my normal breakfast (multiple granola bars, yogurt, and coffee); salad with salmon and Brussel sprouts for lunch; two slices of ice cream cake; and then for dinner I had one bowl of cholent (stew) followed by two bowls of casserole... and I woke up hungry!
I am gaining weight (or at least not losing) so I guess I'm getting enough calories, but if I don't eat enough (ie enough to sustain an elephant) I get super faint and anxious and get a headache.

Some of that msy have to do with making enough milk for 2. I also feel sick if I don't eat regularly enough. I take lots of snacks to work since I basically eat all day. I'm trying to eat healthy but it's difficult!

Yes, some days. It correlates with her eating more, too.
This is typically the time when I start loosing, but it takes months for the weight to come off. It's a slow process.

bocaburger, yes! I've been pigging out/ always hungry and I'm actually down 1-2 entire pant sizes from pre-pregnancy. I had to go out and buy all new jeans because they were so baggy and falling off. I did not expect that and while it's nice to have lost the initial baby weight, I did not want to lose more, I miss my round booty! lol

Ok I need help! When I feed the baby, I am in serious pain on my right side only. I don't feel any lumps, and it's not red or anything like that. When she latches, I basically clench my teeth or cry out every time. A lot of the time, the pain lasts through the feed. This has been going on for 2ish weeks. 1) I think she's going through a growth spurt (5 months old today) because she is eating around the clock and my boobs feel huge. 2) She is teething and biting. She clamps down hard before she releases, which is always bad for me. Maybe she has actually caused a bruise? I have always given her this painful side first because she seems to prefer the other side. 3) I thought I got a period right before Thanksgiving, but it ended up being only one day. At this point, I'm really not sure what it was. *Maybe* I am expecting another period and that's causing the pain? Does anyone have any thoughts/advice. I am really struggling.
annbuhdan with all the info you've given, I would say it's a mix of hormones, growth spurt, and teething. Is the pain throughout the entire breast or just the nipple? Since you always offer that side first and baby is teething, I would think it could be bruised. That side is bearing the bulk of the feeds. Maybe try giving it a break? Like offer the other side first for a while (a few feeds? Entire day? Idk) just to see if it brings some relief.
Sorry I don't have any helpful advice, but I hope it gets better soon. It wouldn't hurt to put a call into your GP but I really have no idea what could be done for it.
annbuhdan No suggestions but I'm sorry you're in pain!
The last few days I am getting way less than usual (like half) from a pumping session and the letdown takes much longer. A couple nights ago I pumped for 20 minutes and did not get anything, which has never happened before. I can't figure out if it's an issue with my pump settings or if my supply suddenly tanked for some reason. We are traveling so lots of factors are out of whack.
Suggestions?
ETA as far as I can tell, they are getting enough from me when nursing. Plenty of pee and poop.

Try replacing the little white flappy membranes on your pump. Those can tear ir wear out and significantly impact output. Are you hydrated enough? Overly tired or stressed? Getting your period?
Doesn't thrush cause white spots? I don't see anything like that in her mouth.
I had thrush a few months back and dd had no white spots, either. But I definitely had bad pain in my nipples when she latched, as well as shooting pains throughout my breasts. Her pediatrician diagnosed both of us, due to yeasty rashes on her face and bottom and my pain.

Ugh, I'm having my first supply issue. DD did 5 days in a row where she slept through the night and then the past 2 days she's waking up at 3am to eat again. My supply must have town regulated to drop that one feed. So now I'm not getting enough from pumping yesterday or today. Looks like 3oz short both days. How do I fix this?!

My first LO never slept through the night, but I still couldn't pump enough for her during work. I added a pump at night right before I went to bed to make up extra ounces. I would keep up this routine even on weekends to stash extra ounces for the upcoming week. Maybe something like that could work for you.

I do that too. I need three bottles and I pump 4 times during the day (once right after morning feed) and once in evening. I still give about 3 oz of formula. Pumping and back to work killed my supply.

meagpt22, annbuhdan well I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this happen. I've been back to work since mid November and have never had an issue pumping enough until this week! I'll try adding in another pumping time to see if it helps. Thanks! (After my 3x at work today it's seriously 2oz off what she eats. So annoying!)

remylove1011 I should have added, as time went on I just ended up giving her one bottle of formula per day while I was at work. Sometimes you can try everything and still not pump enough! Don't make yourself crazy over it

Hmm... well I did get my first PP period last week. Wonder if that impacted it some. I think I'm hydrated enough. This stuff is crazy!

Anecdote - but my sister's supply always dropped when her period returned. She had to start supplementing with formula from there on out. Not saying this will happen to you! But, sharing that periods can affect supply in some women.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what it does! I can always supplement a few ounces if needed.

The period might have, just keep up with hydrating & pumping and it should come back!
In the last week I've noticed my left breast only pumps an ounce or less. It was always my under performer but now it's even less. I've increased my water intake and drink lactation tea. Any other tips? Should I have DS start on that side first every time he nurses? I'm wondering if this is why he's not sleeping great, that he's hungry.

my left always pumps half the amount as right. I do try to start on that side more often.
