We're headed to my parents' house because they have central air. Our super old house only has window units, and they're just not cutting it.
Also, the woman behind me at the grocery store this morning informed the cashier (while I was still standing in between them) that she was "afraid her water was going to break in line." Thanks, lady.

That's when I would've used my super-powerful mind-control to break my own water just to spite her.
A woman in the grocery store loudly told the cashier, while looking at me, that I was "brave." Presumably for grocery shopping with a newborn baby sleeping in a moby, and a well-rested 4-year old. (What she didn't know is that the "brave" part came from grocery shopping with a hard deadline to finish by kindergarten pickup. Which we did--woot woot!!)

We don't have central air. I have the downstairs unit pointed at me. There are places in my home that I would rather not go today... like the bathroom.
Ugh. Too hot.
My block is being closed today by the Philly Police so a six year can have a birthday party. It's super sweet. His parents asked the street's permission, 80% needed to sign the petition to say yes (we, of course, signed) so the cops put up road blocks and now there's a "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" party happening. I hope those kids picked some light costumes.
We are driving 1.5 hours each way down to my nephew's 4th birthday party. We are about halfway and so far so good. DD3 isn't the biggest fan of her car seat, so I am worried she is going to start screaming.
I picked up her Zantac so she will start that this evening, I'm really hoping it helps!
We are going to deep clean the house again, top to bottom, on our last weekend before we become parents! Going to try to stay inside as much as I can too. Last weekend was gorgeous but this wkend is expected to be in the triple digits pretty much all day, every day until maybe mid week - ugh.
Sending cooling vibes to you ladies with no or limited a/c!!!!
hashbrownnofilter - people like that are so irritating! Wish you had a water bottle with you!!
Rama - that's so awesome about your former teacher!!
joy - that's too cute (about the cops & the party) - we LOVE all things Peanuts related!
Also - made that special sauce for the "inducing eggplant parm" last night but ladled it over spaghetti. It was pretty amazing - let's see if it helps!
SO almost went on my shitlist last night when I couldn't reach him after 5pm. Lucky for him, there was no emergency, and my best guess that he had passed out after not sleeping the night before was right. I just spoke to him briefly and told him to just make sure to check in at least via text today, because I won't know when he is between tournament rounds.
9 rounds of Magic. They are about to start. Just thinking about it exhausts me... but he is really jazzed up for it, so I hope he does well.
Little girl is definitely pressing down on pelvic things. I think today is a tv and couch kind of day. It is gonna be too hot to go outside anyway.
And I finally sucked it up last night and installed the car seat base myself! I just have to check with the actual seat that the angle is right. Our back seat slopes really strongly, and its what contributed to the bad positioning with DD1. I know what to look for now, though.
I think I am almost ready for this baby to get here! Just gotta pack up DD's go-bag, but I could even do that last second.

I mean... I'm disillusioned with my evening primrose oil, raspberry tea leaf, and yoga ball. So, please - share with the class if this works!
I read a study last night about dates. I was all ready for the dates. Then I realized that the good results came from eating 6 dates a day. That's a lot of dates. Okay, it's too many dates for this small-stomached person. I'm not sure I'm dedicated enough to the date brigade at this time.
I also realize that I'm still "early" so I should just cool my jets. But, the strength and volume of movements from this kid are becoming overwhelming. Last night, I lied on the couch while my belly bounced around frighteningly and continuously for almost three hours. My husband was like "WTF?" I said "No, this is my life at this time of day." If I stand up, then I get to feel that against a rock hard uterus.
Proud of you for installing the car seat venyia!! I was this close to doing it myself if MH didn't FINALLY do it one day shy of 40w!!
WWA16D: My mom texted me not long ago saying she feels a cold coming on. I'm due to be induced in 2 days - I told her if she still doesn't feel well by Monday morning, she can't be around us or baby. I know she's so excited to meet her grandchild but I'm more concerned about my kid's fragile newborn health. I guess my question is if she feels better by this evening or tomorrow, would you guys still risk her seeing baby in a few days?!

So we lie. And grimace.
Will do! I couldn't do the dates - I bought a pack that was just purely dehydrated dates and they are SO sweet. I usually have them in Greek dishes but at this point I'm lazy. I can barely down one and I read the same that 6 does the trick. Cannot do!
DH is outside cutting the grass right now. I think he's suicidal or something. According to the weather channel it's 93 and feels like 108 out there.
I want to puke just thinking about this.
We went to dinner on Thursday for my husband's birthday. Or rather, we tried to. I had his present, my bag, and two bottles of wine. The place was only about four blocks from my house, but I was sweating and felt sick after just four little blocks! It was about 95 degrees, 100% humidity and heat index over 100. Joy was ...not good. But, I was also early, so I was just going to cool off in the air conditioning while I waited.
I could see people eating outside as I walked up. I thought that was so bizarre because it was sofaking hot.
Then.
HORROR OF HORRORS.
The restaurant had opened all of their tri-fold windows. ALL OF THEM. Basically the restaurant had a pony wall around it on three sides.
A waiter asked me if I was okay as I walked up and I mumbled that "I was hoping to sit in air conditioning." And he said "Oh, it's on inside." I was like "But all the windows are open..." He was confused by me. The hostess brought me water, but I told her that we may not be able to say due to the temperature. She also seemed confused. I was like "I'm way too pregnant to not sit in air conditioning." She walked away a bit dumbfounded.
My husband got there. He double checked that I wasn't misunderstanding the situation and then said we'd have to go. The hostess was like "Um, yeah. Okay. Good luck with that baby thing..."

Thanks! Its been on my list for over 2 weeks now, but we kept not getting to it. It was literally the only thing my mom ran out of time to help with yesterday, so I just did it myself to get it done, haha.
About your mom, if you can trust her judgment, I would say no fevers and no coughing/sneezing/runny nose etc for 2 days would be enough for me if she was also diligent about hand washing and such. Otherwise.... baby will be there next week when she is feeling better. Hopefully she would be understanding that a sick newborn is not worth jumping the visiting gun.
joy, that is AWFUL. Everyone's attitude there is baffling. I can understand being like, sorry for the inconvenience, this is policy, blah blah. But just acting like you are silly or crazy for, I dunno, understanding basic physics of temperature? So ridiculous. I am sorry your time was wasted. Heat is totally a 9 month pregnant woman's worst enemy.

Thank you!! They made me feel so nuts for thinking it was too hot. I cried because I felt weak, crazy, sick and as though I was ruining my husband's birthday.
The restaurant is a fancy Italian BYOB. This is a place that should want happy, cool patrons. Many restaurants in the area can open up like that, but were closed up tight on Thursday. Obviously!
We went home, regrouped and ended up down the street at a different place. All's well that ends well, right?

joy sorry for the heat but that's such a cute party idea! Odd for August but cute I'm sorry for rudeness of the waitress People don't understand being pregnant in the heat! steph your husband is crazy! That's too hot!! agpjt413 I would say that if you trust her and shes fever and coughing/sneezing free then let her come for a short time but be adamant about hand washing or maybe even have her wear a mask?

joy, yeah I don't blame you at all for not wanting to sit at that restaurant. I would have melted.
Since it's so hot here but I'm trying to walk baby down some, we went to the mall for a few hours and walked around. Not sure if it helped anything. I dud start to loose my mucus plug yesterday, but I know hat doesn't mean much. Really hoping she decides to be a due date baby. I don't want to go to work on Monday and I'm so ready to meet her.

Okay, so I know everyone is melting this heat wave. But my part of Texas is having a cool frount move through that is bring rain. Yesterday the high was 108 at my house today we haven't hit 75. Point being, dd1 wanted to go to the grocery store today, and since I figured we needed a bunch of stuff and probably won't make it to the store again for a few weeks, that we went. Well as we were leaving it started to rain, not a little as right up down poor. We both got compleatly soaked, it was misting when we left the store and with in 100 yards it started racing so freaking hard!! Soaked to the bone. Well, it was raining so hard j could see out my frount window while doing 20, so we had to pull over before he highway and wait for it to clear up some. Finally got home an hour later, still wet and freezing!! I asked my husband if he would be build me a fire, yes I'm that cold!! It's been 2.5 hours and I'm still cold. This Texas girl doesn't do "cold" or "wet" I'm just not built for it. I'll take the 108, at least I'm accustomed to heat!

My H is a magic player too, and he works with a bunch of the pros at a game company. gL to your SO!
