Thanks so much venyia, @suesposa & ameliabird - I spoke to my mom about 15 min ago and she sounds absolutely awful. She totally understands (thankfully) not wanting to compromise baby's immune system so she'd rather wait to see baby when she's better and baby has time to build a stronger, healthier immune system. She asked that we FaceTime her from the hospital and I said of course! I'm relieved that conversation went well and pretty easy b/c she's been SOOOO impatient about the arrival of her grand child!

So, we didn't end up getting through the line, but as she was passing by us to get to her next commitment, she saw us and said, "Hey! I know these people!" We got hugs and handshakes before she was whisked off again.
Worth it. :)
Also, kind of amazing she did recognize is so quickly. Only kind of, because she and I are Facebook friends, but we haven't seen each other in person for almost 13 years. And my husband has a(n extremely unforgettable) face full of beard now.

FaceTime is a perfect compromise!
I love grandparent anecdotes that don't make me want to headdesk. :)

Okay, so I've been looking at that picture all day.... who is it? I can for the life of me figure out who you could be talking about. Now I'm even more curious.
agpjt413, I am so glad that your mom is a reasonable and understanding person! There are too many folks out there who would want/try to see a newborn anyway, sick or not. Facetime is a great temporary solution, and fx she gets better soon so she can have her just babysnuggling rewards!

Thanks! Me too - I was actually surprised that she took it so well
Just got to check in on the past few days here. Hugs and love to all who need it!
We've had a hell of a past 3 days. Thursday morning someone hit my car while it was parked, crushing in the corner of my bumper. They didn't even leave a note luckily there was a witness and I was able to find out who did it. I did make a police report, but I'm on a committee with this woman and I hate to see her charged with hit skip, but I'm pissed about my car....hopefully I hear from her insurance company Monday. The rest of Thursday was spent dealing with some stressful family drama (that thankfully has calmed down). Then to top it all off, we had major storms roll through and lost power at our house for two days. We stayed with ILs for the weekend but I was miserable and just wanted to be home. Thankfully the power came on about 3 hours ago and I'm now home in my own bed!
countrycotton you must be joking about taking the 108! We got very little rain but I'm enjoying the "lower" temps I absolutely don't do rain or getting wet. No way José. I'll be in trouble come spring. I've been a desert girl too long

I wish I was joking about the 108! I seriously am more comfortable being hot, I can cool off easier than I can warm up. I had been home, in dry clothes and wool socks for 3 hours and was still cold. I ended up running the hottest bath I could handle so I could get my "bones warm". I really suck at cool, true cold.. I just ware lots of layers. Rain is a B! I can't hanldle driving in it. But think about all the pretty GREEN, and other colors coming your way this spring!! SPRING I think you get a real SPRING!!!
So... SO did not do so great in the tournament, but he made something like 6 times his travel costs by selling trade cards he took along. And that was just so far; that number might go up. Since baby appears to be happy just to chill, I think having him go was the right call. And there's a chance he might be back as early as late tonight.
Downside: no one to ride herd on DD while this crazy RLP takes me down for an hour. Oh well... guess it won't kill anyone for her to eat an apple and throw some toys for awhile.

DD3 keeps waking up out of light sleep screaming like she is seriously in pain. My other two did too. No idea why. Settles on being picked up. I need the kid to be able to be put down (without pain or whatever causes the scream). DH's foot started getting worse the day DD3 was born and is now different and worse pain than ever. I have 2 bigs who need me. DD3 needs to be able to sleep I her own! She screams both flat and in the last resort RnP.

Hugs to all here. I had a great birthday of highs and lows. Called to the Torah for an aliyah at Temple, yet also changed two disgusting blow out diapers. The eagle has landed - meaning, my mom is here and although she and my husband haven't seen each other yet, they are at least not talking shit about each other yet so that's hopeful. DS' birthday tomorrow and I'm just so proud of him. He had a great week transitioning to his new room at daycare, and he's currently happily asleep in his new big boy bed. He napped there this afternoon and it looks like things are going great on that front - we'll see if we have a visitor in the night!

After last night's only sleeping for one hour fiasco, I texted like every mom friend for help/tips. One of them said "use the miracle blankets I mailed you!!" So it's only been a few hours but so far so good! He has still woken every two hours to eat but the sleep in between was actual sleep! How this keeps up and wasn't just a fluke
My stitches hurt. Ugh. How long will they keep hurting and when will they go away?! I'm over it.
c section or vagina stitches? I got 15 vag ones and it still hurts a little bit 3.5 weeks later. It's much less now but it was very solid pain until 3 week mark. Good luck!

Vag stitches. I don't know how many I have. Doctor said it was a third degree tear and awkward shaped so she was stitching me up for a while I'm in pain and I feel sort of itchy too. So uncomfortable.

This makes me sad. I'm 4 days pp I have 40 and figured I'd be better after a week or so. The dr's kept saying "a few weeks" but I didn't want to believe them. Were you taking anything or just toughing it out? I had to stop my good pain meds because they were making LO really sleepy and he wouldn't nurse.
Aw sorry!! I felt like I kept accidentally doing things to make mine worse though. Like I'd "scooch" my butt on the couch adjusting positions and then I'd be like shit that hurt. They gave me 800mg motrin that I could take every 6 hours but I generally don't take any pain meds so I took this once a day.
