PDQ because this is really revealing.
My BFF is having a wedding in October. She signed a contact with the venue for 150 people. The max it holds is 210. She just realized yesterday that over 298 save the dates were sent out because her parents and ILs hijacked her guest list without her knowledge. Im feeling some sort of way about all this.
We are in the midst of another nursing strike. According to FF, I am due to get another period if it comes. Last month's first PP period was what I suspect was behind that strike. Awesome. J screamed in the middle of the night because I had the audacity to try to nurse her.
I'm getting worried because she's fighting a bottle of pumped milk this morning too. Uggghhhhh.

DD has been pooping MOTN again. Is there anything I can do to make that stop? I thought that was just a newborn thing. Change the diaper, obviously, but I wonder if that is contributing to some of our wakeups.
Like she didn't send out her own save the dates? How does that even happen?! Boo on her parents and ILs though.
Part of this has to do with her personality and how she's been overwhelmed and breezy about it. It took me months of nagging to even get a rudimentary list from her for the bridal shower. I realized something was up with the guest list when one of the bridesmaids that I put in charge of sending out shower invites kept having to invite more and more people. I begged her to go over the guest list this weekend and sure enough it's a total clusterfuck. The parents have basically ignored all her wishes because they "know better". I kinda knew something like this was going to happen and warned her about giving others control over her wedding, but in the end there is nothing I can do except be pissed for her and offer hair pats.
SheilaTheTank not cool. Our guest list was limited to under 150. That's because we didn't want a big wedding and my H and I paid for everything. Our patents had no say.

This is what we did. We paid for almost everything and had 5 things we would never compromise on. Even though it was hard and a lot of work, I wouldn't change anything about it. I would never want to do it again though!

J's first tooth has popped through. He has a little sliver of a tooth, and the one next to it looks like it's going to pop through soon. My baby is growing up too fast!

E rolled back to belly for the first time today and I missed it sitting right there! She then proceeded to roll onto her back and landed too hard. . Not a happy baby.
We also paid for everything ourselves and had less than 90 people at ours. My MIL tried to hijack the rehearsal dinner wanting us to invite all of her family (4 siblings plus spouses; 10 nieces & nephews and 1 fiancee, so 19 extra people, more than doubling the number we originally invited). We told her she could hold her own dinner after ours if that was what she wanted. I had to call around to venues for her, get quotes, etc. Turned out none of them even planned to be here the night of the dinner so all the drama and arguing was for nothing.
Even if your parents are doing a list, that's fine but respect the venue, the fire code and the timeliness of the situation!
Our wedding was very drama free. My parents paid for all of it. My mom planned all of it. I made like maybe 4 decisions on things that I really cared about. It was beautiful, I loved it and I barely had to do anything. My parents definitely had more ppl there than we did but we don't have a ton of friends and were fine with it. I tried to make my MIL feel included where I could, she is pretty easy going so it wasn't an issue.
My brother is getting married now and it's like drama to the max, bc my parents are paying for most of it and want more of a say in the planning, but I suppose it's different when you are the parents of the groom and not the bride.
J was all smiles and giggles when I picked him up yesterday. I'm so glad he's happy at daycare. It kind of makes me miss him more though. They are going on a field trip to a fire station today. I'm hoping she gets some good pictures for my dad who is a fireman.

This is the first time I've heard of someone being happy with their parents planning their entire wedding. Im glad it worked out for you!
We went to a wedding last winter that was over the top. It was obvious the parents were involved in planning every detail. This was confirmed when the bride called her parents onto the dance floor so they could recreate their first dance because "this was the wedding they always wanted"

It was the most passive aggressive moment ever.
That's nuts! I also don't know many other ppl that it worked for... I will chalk it up to my mother's impeccable taste (she has serious style, almost none of which I inherited. I also let her pick out most my clothes, or I did when I wore more than exercise/lounge wear). We 2 non-issues one was over the dress she was originally going to wear, which I never even saw, but her friend managed to talk her out of (if you have to ask if a dress is appropriate for an occasion, it's prob not) and I didn't like the flowers that she picked, but she wasn't offended or anything and we just picked new stuff.
The baby hadn't pooped for a few days, not exactly sure how many it's been. But we have errands and appointments so I'm sure she'll decide to clean out today.
Hahha yuuuup. Def. While she's in the car seat, just to make clean up that much more fun.

My mom is coming to watch LO while I take my dog to the vet. He broke one of his nails and has been limping. Is it bad I was hoping E would wait to poo until she got here?
Ok, name buddy... go ahead and make me one of those! Haha, I kid I kid. It looks nice! A local friend of mine who has a little girl a month older than K made one and now y'all are making me want to do one.

I took LO to daycare on Thursday to meet the teachers and play for a bit. And now he has a cold. Seriously? 20 minutes at daycare and already sick? I hope this is a coincidence.
So holy drama filled day. We hired a contractor to do a little bit of work in the house. He had good reviews and such online. He got here and said he was gonna have to call another guy to do one piece. He started working and everything seemed fine, the other guy came and started on the other thing. A little while later the original guy tells me he's leaving and will be back tomorrow but that the other guy is still here, and my initial gut feeling is that he seems drunk. So I say ok, and go back and ask the Nanny if she saw anything or if he seemed drunk to her, she didn't notice anything. Then after a bit I don't hear any more work but a phone is ringing non stop. So I went to find the guy and there is no one in the house (except me the nanny and LO) and the house is a mess and all the tools are everywhere and so is a phone. So I go outside and the original guy is gone and the other guy is sitting in his truck. So anyway... It's the original guys phone, also all his tools, the other guy has just done a few jobs for him and asked the other guy to pay him for this and the other job and after that the guy said he was going to lowes and then disappeared. The new guy also said the other guy was definitely drunk. So we emailed the old guy and said we won't be paying and not to come back, and hired the new guy to finish the work. Then when H gets home he says that the mailboxes for the complex are knocked over and look like they may have been hit by a car.
Sorry if that is confusing AF, I am having a hard time wrapping my head around what happened let alone explain it but TL/DR: a contractor basically got drunk in our house and did no almost no work then disappeared and the situation scared the shit out of me.
