I just bought the UPPAbaby 2015 jake umbrella stroller. I'm so fucken excited. I hate my current stroller and so pissed off I spent 700$ on that POS.
Anyone have the UPPAbaby jake? Do you like it?
Jake is a color. Their umbrella strollers are the g-luxe and the g-lite.
I have the g-luxe and a vista.
Well I feel silly! I got the G luxe in jake! Lol Do you like yours? I really hate buying strollers because I always find something I hate about it. This is my 3rd stroller purchase
I have an order in my cart on the target website. MH will kill me. He told me over the weekend no more clothes for V for awhile, again. Ahh, what to do?
The one thing she does need is pajamas. We have been using the Carter's fleece jammies but I'm wondering if she needs something lighter for spring. Of course there are no pajamas in my cart.

I have the g-luxe and it's great! I think the salt from the sidewalks is making our wheels really noisy though, so I need to look into how to reduce the squeaking. Otherwise it handles well and I like how tall the handles are since I'm tall. It's easy to open and close too. I'll admit it is hard to push the stroller one handed while holding a cup of full coffee on bumpy sidewalks...but that's probably more my problem than the stroller's fault.
LizInFL Good work on sleeping!! We had 11 hours without a peep! I don't remember the last time I slept that long, but of course I'm sick so felt even more tired this morning than normal. I am so confused by this development that I'm in denial that it is real and will last..
I just toured the daycare that my work offers that starts at 18 months. I'm now depressed because it is AMAZING and we are number 39 on the waitlist...they have 12-16 slots opening this summer, so it's not looking good for us. I'm kicking myself for not getting on the waitlist as soon as he was born and not waiting until I got back from leave. UGH. Oh, and it's $600 a month cheaper.

Do you have seniority over any one on the list that you can get fired??

also, related to yesterday's post - Jon Stewart is retiring and Brian Williams got 6 months suspension..maybe he can take over the nightly news!
And that article hurts my head and what's scary is that they are really trying to convince people with her shiny/glossy pinterest worthy blog that my (our presumably) demographic is falling hook, line, and sinker for this crap and not using reasoning skills. I'm all about blog recommendations...for book and makeup advice, not medical advice.

All of the o&gs just left for a conference in Houston. This means the rest of my week just got considerably easier. Not that I'm working hard to begin with, but still.
I'll come back and read later. Wrangling a toddler and working simultaneously because DC is stupid.
They called me to pick him up but I was in a meeting and couldn't answer, so I pinged Pete and he called right away to see what was going on. Come get him, he's sick. Fine. So I get out of my meeting and go over there and seriously, he's fine. They said he had a runny nose and watery eyes. No shit, he has allergies. No fever, no vomiting, etc. That's why he's on Flonase and Singulair among other things, all of which they are aware. So I'm annoyed but take him home and figure we'll discuss it tomorrow.
Well, I get a call from my dad sounding alarmed because DC has him as an emergency contact and I guess they called him when my phone went to voicemail. A clear runny nose is not an emergency, FFS. Why they didn't call Pete right away when I didn't answer is anyone's guess. And they had some poster and a handout saying that he can come back when he isn't coughing. Newsflash, kids with asthma cough. A lot. Especially when there are Santa Ana winds. I'm so fucking pissed that Pete is going to have to take him to the doctor to get a note saying he is not contagious. If every kid with a cough or snotty nose couldn't attend DC, they'd be empty all the time.

cagoldi That's ridiculous. I actually just went to a birthday party over the weekend and C's nose was running the entire time (as it has been for the WHOLE WINTER) and all the other moms were like, "Oh, the never ending running nose. My kid has that too!". I would never be able to take him to daycare if they don't let kids with runny noses in.
Also Zarbees cough syrup for 12mo+ is pretty much just dark honey
I've been using one by Wish Garden called Kick It Cough For Kids, and it's working surprisingly well. I wasn't expecting much, but A can sleep from about 6:30 pm - 4 or 5 am before the coughing picks up again.
@surelycantbesrs that's really dangerous! I don't know what the rules are but is that getting into the endangerment zone? Like, the needs to be reported to CPS kind of thing?
I know. I was horrified when my mom told me the other day. I hope that since the EMTs eventually came and she went to an ER that someone there made the call. I never see or talk to this cousin so I just know what I heard third hand, but it's seriously messed up. My heart aches for her kid and that she could have suffered brain damage because of her parents' stupidity. She has 2 older stepsons and I guess they never take any of them to the doctor.
kamakaziartist when my hair was falling out I talked to my midwife about it at my annual. She ordered a bunch of labs which of course came back normal. I switched my sea salt back to iodized salt for cooking and table salt and my hair has stopped departing my head, except for normal hair loss. Unless you eat a lot of seaweed, iodine deficiency could be the cause. Obviously this is anecdotal, but such an easy/harmless switch, and it helped me.
cagoldi that DC call is a bunch of BS. My first DC got so bad about calling to pick M up about every little thing after they merged with another center and got a new director, that I ended up having to pull him and have my friend watch him for awhile until I found our new DC. They wasted SO much of my sick time over NOTHING. I think some centers don't train the staff well enough to determine legit illness versus, common cold, or the never ending running nose due to 12,678 possible reasons.
cagoldi Mara would never be able to attend your daycare. She's had a runny nose & cough since she was 3 months old.
Which is why it's so weird. They know he pretty much always has a runny nose. They even have an inhaler with a spacer there and have been shown how to use it in case he is really having trouble. Oh, and a big blue medical bracelet that says, you guessed it, ASTHMA. It's the same Admin they've always had so I don't know what her problem is now but Pete is going to talk to her tomorrow.

Good luck @peachesmama!
Guys, is it weird that I have names in my head that I use for the babies that I only know their first initial? They're just random names that pop in my head. For instance kfran84 your babies name is Christopher and for some reason mellochello your little ones name is Lamar! I go back and forth between Emmaline and Elodie for your little one kamakaziartist.
I'm feeling better, thanks for asking. My ears still feel like there's something in there and I've still got a bit of a runny nose, but I'm ok besides that. I hope you're feeling better.
