So I tried the milkies and it went decently well. Didn't get in my way and it was fairly comfortable. I probably got about an ounce, while I was feeding on the other side.
Then I put F down in bed. And while I was leaning over all of the milk spilled out. Sigh.
I'm laying here in the couch with a heating pad across my boobs because I'm starting to get clogs and it's frustrating W at the boob.
Have you tried dangle feeding?
I need to do this because I have a clog on my right side. It's just hard with the c section incision and also, I'm just lazy about it. Trying different holds is helping though too!

It's all fun and games until someone forgets they've got milk strapped to their boobs...
W has been extra needy today. I think he's only had one normal length nap and if he isn't sleeping, he's either on my boob or crying. It seems like a gas issue still and I'm thinking he's been nursing so much to try and make himself feel better. He FINALLY had a giant burp and has been farting away and sleeping the last ten minutes or so. I'm hoping he's a happier camper when he wakes up.

Also, don't want to hold him because I want a nap while both boys sleep but also don't want to put him down for fear of him waking up and the fact that he has a fistful of my hair and is cute.

There was the time I forgot to put my boobs away after feeding... in a coffee shop

If you are getting clogs, get a lechithin supplement. Health food stores and even the vitamin aisle may have it. It emulsifies your milk so that the fat isn't so sticky and it really helps prevent clogs.

Great news opheliainwaders!! I'm hating having to pump so much but reminding myself that it's temporary.
I also tried waking N early for a feed today and it was an epic fail. She just kept falling asleep on the boob even after a diaper change. When she wakes on her own she is mad and ready to eat.

Just left first pedi appointment. DD is 7 days old. She was born at 8lb 3oz and was 7lb 14oz when we left the hospital. Today she was 7lb 15oz. Dr wants us back in a week to make sure she's at birthweight. I know we're in a good place because many babies lose a lot of weight. But, man, now I'm stressed. My anxiety is up because it seems like all week ill just be stressing about feeding her.
Any advice from BTDT moms?
Pedi said pumping and bottles wasn't necessary yet...

weeklyplanner offer both breasts every feed and make sure you are getting in 10-12 good feeds every 24 hours. Keep her awake while she eats, make sure she's really emptying your breast.
It's easy to want to take advantage of them sleeping longer but that can mean too few feedings. She needs roughly 18-20oz per day to gain weight right now

Thank you. Very helpful! Momming can be so hard some days.

Since I'm now on an antibiotic for my c section infection, do I need to do anything to prevent thrush? I sent DH to the store to get me a probiotic, but is there anything else I can do?
Called the LC to get some advice about what to do with W's fussiness. I had DH feed him a bottle of pumped milk from the other day to top him off and get him down for a nap.
I power pumped for an hour and got 3.5 oz. The clogs on the top of my boob are gone and I feel so much better. Hoping to start fresh once W wakes up. I had a lot of guilt about it at first, but worst case scenario, we have pumped milk for later.
So for my own sanity and hopefully sleep, I'm gonna EP for the next few days until W's two week appt. I'm gonna work on latching too but my main goal is getting him back up to his birth weight for his appt Wednesday.

Do what you need to do. This whole thing is so stressful in the beginning and so much of it is the stress we put on ourselves. I'm over here riddled with mom guilt myself, yet when I read your post it sounds totally reasonable. Anyway, kudos to you for making a decision and moving forward. I hope W's chunking up for you and you can put this behind you!

Having the LC tell me not to be afraid of the pump helped me feel a bit better about it. We had to to do this with DS1, but we were also supplementing with formula too.
Pumping the first couple weeks is what honestly saved me and DS1s nursing relationship until I went back to work.

With DS there was a week that I had to pump my left side because he tore it up so badly . Y you do what you have to do. Thankfully I respond well to a good pump
Thanks ladies. I do know what to expect this time, it just sucks. I was trying to be proactive and get ahead and hoped the scheduled section would be easier on my body.
I got an email from her after I posted. She miscalculated while she was here. N won't get enough calories even with giving both sides based on our weighted feed, so she wants us to start supplementing today and she wants me to pump after every nursing session to try to boost supply.
I cried in bed for about an hour after reading that. I can't pump that much with a toddler, especially once my mom leaves. It's just impossible. And doing formula is such a pain. It's nipple pain and washing bottles. Ugh.

Since yesterday e has been latching for at least 10 minutes every time I try. Yay I just have no clue if she is getting anything or if it's just a comfort thing. So now I'm putting her to the boob pumping and making formula for bottle feeds it's so exhausting.
Ugh. So frustrating getting B to latch when I'm engorged so I sometimes settle for a shallow latch just to get him on. I try the reverse pressure thing but it doesn't help much. I can't wait until his mouth gets bigger.

Any way you can do a weighed feeding to try and assess how much she's getting at the boob? It's great she's latching and, FWIW, Im incredibly impressed with your comittment.
