My sil is pregnant and due with her first in July. She is texting me asking about stroller advice. It's taking everything I have no to spill the news to her via text.
One of my besties randomly texted me last night asking "any baby news?" (She knew we were going to be TTC this year). DH and I agreed not to tell friends until after the first appt but it was really hard not to tell her.
My rule is if anyone outright asks, I won't lie. So far no one has asked lol

That's a good rule. I wanted to tell her, but I think I'd be upset if DH told his friends (just since I feel like it's still so early...) so I just lied and said no haha.
You should still be fine no matter what happens with the ACA. Since you are currently enrolled in a plan that was created under the ACA, they can't change what is covered for the remainder of the plan year. You basically signed a contract with them for the period of coverage for your plan. Those of us in the States are lucky that we are pregnant and due to deliver this year, that's for sure. Next year could be a serious shit show.
Oh phew, I had actually had this thought but wasn't sure if I was correct that this year would stay the same. Yeah, I feel pretty glad to be having a 2017 instead of 2018 for that exact reason.
Toss up for me on the dates. NY's paid 12 week family leave starts in 2018, so I'm missing that boat. Though MIL works in HR and said teachers are exempt, so probably not.
I'm hoping to get a new, different pump. The PISA was okay but I never really responded well to it. I'd like something different this time around. That I should have gotten the smaller flanges that I absolutely know I needed but couldn't get in stores and never ordered.
I was showing a pic of DD to a coworker today and she was like "I think it's time for a little brother or sister" and I really wanted to tell her. But I didn't lol.
It took everything in me not to spill to my BFF a couple of days ago. She's going through medicated cycles and has opened up to me about it. I can math enough to know about when she'll figure out, so I asked her a few days ago and she kind of eluded that she didn't think this one was working. She should know this week at some point. Then she asked how I was since she knows about my loss a couple of months ago. I kept it vague about my feelings and that's it. I know I need to tell her through text so she can feel her own feelings not in front of me and that's all that kept me biting my tongue.
I'm super excited that DD is now starting to like movies. She loves Tangled and we are trying Beauty and the Beast today
DD wasn't interested in Beauty in the Beast when we tried it a few months ago. Rude. I wanted to watch it! But she loves Tangled and "the iguana."
Lately though it is all about Moana and Trolls. Both of which I dony mind. I love Moana.
Wall-E, Despicable Me, and Fantasia are popular in this house. DS will actually sit for about 20 minutes or so. I love Tangled, but don't have it on DVD or anything. I'll have to check out netflix.
Ugh. It makes me angry even thinking about family leave. H's company offers 16 weeks paid at 100% for primary caregivers and 4 weeks paid at 100% for non-primary. My work offers short term disability which is 6/8 weeks at 60% of my pay. They allow for 13 weeks total off under FMLA but you either take $0 for the weeks outside of the STD or use vacation/personal time.
Last time I took the remaining weeks totally unpaid since I knew I would need time off once I returned. I think I'll probably do the same again this time but it frustrates me to no end that we don't have a general paid family leave policy as a country. Total bullshit.
cnf2013 I am a bit annoyed because we have 6/8 weeks paid disability leave here in CA, plus 6 weeks baby bonding (paid family leave), both at 55% pay. But, even though I work for a state university so I technically work for the government, they have their own disability system, and while I do get the disability pay at 60%, I do not believe they offer paid family leave. I still have my job protected through FMLA but I just don't get paid for that part.
But I am lucky to be in a state that does offer the disability. My former employer paid the remaining 45% to get to 100% of my pay for the disability 6 weeks which was amazing. My current employer does not.
Yeah, the state thing is at like 66% of your salary, which is a hell of a lot better then none. I'll get the 6/8 weeks paid, but nothing beyond that unless I can get my doctors to write me out on medical need for longer. They did last time with DD, but I also had raging PPD issues. I don't get any state disability. Sucks.
I pay into STD that will pay 60% of my salary for 6 weeks. I'm hoping not to use it though. As of next school year, I'll have 15-16 weeks of sick time saved up, so I'm hoping to use a good chunk of that and get paid my full salary.

I totally agree.
Oh and I have to use all my vacation time (well, up to 22 days, but I will have about 14) before I get paid through disability. Which makes total sense because no one with an infant will ever need to take sick days before they are accrued, amirite?
They use all my vacation time first too before switching over to drawing from the sick bank. I ended up being out for 14 weeks with DD (2 weeks before, 12 weeks after birth) with only 8 of those weeks being paid through our district leave policy. I was a sick bank mooch for the rest. I'll have to try and find a way to milk the sick bank at my new district this time around again since I won't have enough PTO to go beyond the 6/8 weeks.
The family leave situation in the US pisses me off to no end.
I just pulled my bra off with so much gusto and intensity that I startled my H. I think my boobs are exploding, you guys. It hurts to even think about them right now.
@thatgolfbitch, I just tried to get those Hello Fresh meals, but it won't send them to me. Either they don't deliver to NY because I don't even see it listed as a state option, or it's because it's telling me my address does not exist, because new build and all that.
I had used up all of my FMLA benefits while I was on bed rest with DS. So I got 8 weeks off after birth, but only bc I had a c-section. A vaginal birth would've only been 6 weeks. Luckily my boss is very supportive and family-friendly so when I called her bawling 6w pp she agreed to give me an additional 4 weeks of leave, so I got 12 total. It still didn't feel like enough.

We are only required to use one week worth of vacation/personal the first week we are off as a "qualifying" week for STD. It blows my mind that places require their employees to use all of their time off. Just sickening.

Oh, so frustrating! I am fairly sure they deliver to NY. Have you tried chatting with customer service? They are usually really helpful.
Day 3 and Disney has finally caught up with me. My neck is killing me from carrying our backpack and I might be sort of exhausted because I'm starting to get a littttttle bitchy.
My friend and I were supposed to have coffee this afternoon but I am feeling like crap so I cancelled. She knows I'm pregnant so she gets it. I still feel bad. I just need to convalesce and hopefully nap.
I did put my new tablecloth on the table before I sat down, though, and it makes me happy.
I love the tablecloth!!!!!! I hope you feel better soon.

That'll happen at the best of times! Hang in there, take some pool time!

My work offers no paid time off. Any time I take is out of pocket. If I save all vacation & sick I will have 5 weeks paid, but realistically will have maybe 4Â
Grrr. H's FSA didn't cover the Sonata, perhaps because it is a new model. Now he is trying to figure out what to buy and I am pouting because I had my hopes up. I might be acting a taaaaaaad melodramatic about it.

@thatgolfbitch I love that you used the word, "convalesce," but I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. Hope you're getting some good rest! That tablecloth is so pretty!

I stole the last of my toddler's stale cheerios because they were the only food item that the thought of didn't make me more nauseous. #preggoconfessions
