WOW cnf2013! Those are great!!! Placing bets on multiples?
I have no idea! Those numbers seem high given I'm only 4+4. I kind of want to ask for an earlier ultrasound because I'm curious. Multiples don't run on either side of our family though.
Congratulations on your great betas!! I also had a beta at 4 weeks, 4 days, and it was just above 2500 (I think 2527). It seemed higher than I was guessing as well! Multiples don't run in our families either! I'm having an early ultrasound tomorrow (5 weeks, 3 days) due to spotting, so it'll be interesting to discover what's going on in there!
Mat leave in Canada is really good. A full year at 55% (I think?). I mean, there's a salary cap, which isn't great, but I will not complain at all! beefinch , the UK sounds amazing, full pay is crazy!
It's definitely way better than in the US, but it's not that great. You get 35 weeks of parental leave and 17 weeks of "pregnancy leave" (which you can start before baby is born). Only the biological mom can take the pregnancy leave portion, but either parent can take the parental leave portion (and it can be split up between parents).
55% salary sounds okay if you make a decent salary, but you max out fast. I was getting about $500/week before deductions. They do not take enough out of your EI cheques, so you end up owing a sizable chunk of money back at tax time, which hurts if you weren't prepared for it. Anything you earn while on leave is deducted dollar for dollar, so do not do any work at all. You cannot supplement your EI with any kind of income.
All in all, you end up taking home under $25K for the year and then have to give some of that back too.
Yeah, I agree, but was trying to be considerate to the Americans
I think since most of our leave will be in one tax year the tax implications won't be as bad as a June baby for example.
Apparently there's a pilot project on now where you basically can get 50% for any money worked. Gee, thanks...
When did that pilot project start? Because people kept telling me "you can keep 50% of what you earn!" while I was on mat leave in all of 2015 and that certainly did not happen. I sure did owe $1500 back and I was NOT HAPPY. Maybe there's a new pilot project since I went back to work in January 2016... that would be nice!
My December baby tax implications were huge last time. Our return that should have been about $2K ended up being one we had to pay $300 on. Fortunately, my husband was working from home that year so we had a ton of deductions we could make to mitigate the hit, but on paper I owed over $2K back (in addition to the $1500 I had to pay back for working while on leave).
Oh geez! Good to know. How annoying because they're so vague on whether you'll need to pay more or not. I'm not sure when it started, I just read about it awhile back now.
So. Tired. Definitely going to nap with the kid this afternoon.... if I can get him to sleep.
This was my exact plan, but then mine didn't nap today. Ugh, I'm so tired!
I was lucky and got DS to nap for 1.5 hrs. I dozed for 20 mins lol but at least I got to just lay on the couch for a bit. Hope you can get some good sleep tonight!
Good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow, dottiehinson!
Thank you!! I'm getting pretty anxious about it, so my plan now is to watch an episode of The Office and then go to bed. Laughter and sleep should help, at least a little! 😃
dottiehinson make sure you tell us how many have moved into your womb!
+1 to the cramping @thatgolfbitch I've had it yesterday and this morning. But it's more pinching when I stand up etc. I'm finding I can't move as fast in bed, like when I roll over for example, or I'll feel the pinching. I got that a lot with C so I'm not overly worried. As long as I don't get no spotting, I'm cool.
Lazy day for me. Still have my stupid cold. Wish it would piss of as it's my 25th birthday tomorrow!!
C is being adorable this morning and is cuddling me loads, I was just laid flat on the sofa and he came up and spooned me (I was the big spoon lol) it was great breathing in that fresh clean toddler smell, he always smells so clean lol.
My mums coming over in an hour or so just for a bit so she can get her C fix for the day. Nothing else planned. Going to have a nap when C does, although yesterday he only napped for about half an hour as his cough woke him up. DH was great and let me stay in bed as he got C after his nap. Although once I know C's awake I can't sleep, even though DH was with him. Always been like it, rather annoying lol.
Got a nice few days planned, then a boring week next week with another good weekend! Really looking forward to telling MIL at her bday meal about baby #2 as I reckon she'll cry lol. SIL will probably as well.
beefinch +1 to the "pinch", its more that or a burn for me. Nothing like normal cramps. Such a strange sensation. I'm guessing a lot of it is in my head. I'm hyper aware of everything in my body right now. I'm guessing if I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I probably wouldn't think much into it.
Lol at sniffing our toddlers! I do too. What about baby smell?? I miss it.
I looove baby smell. And toddler smell. DD has been requesting cuddles lately and I love it so much.
Last week when I got home from work, I picked up DD for a hug and accidentally sniffed her and she smelled like the babysitter!!!! (who had been watching her that day). DH thought I was insane because I mentioned it.
Took my last pregnancy test today. I really wish we had the weeks estimator ones, but my test line was darker than the control line so I'll have to settle for that.

I wish I could find the source of the stinky food smell occurring at my work right now and destroy it. I was doing SO well with minor nausea today until the burnt tuna sandwich smell. *vomit*
I told the person I co-facilitate a group with that I'm preggers so she knows if I suddenly leave the room what's going on. Also told my best friend yesterday. Tonight I will see my mom, it's going to be hard not saying anything to her!
My best friend had her baby in April16, he's 1 in a couple weeks, and I literally would just go over hers, bring her some food and hold the baby, and rest my head on his gently to breathe him in. I swear kick started my ovaries into like "okay we are ready, come on time to go"
I actually got my implant removed earlier than I wanted, I was going to get it out October/November but got it out in August because I didn't mind being pregnant at my wedding (Jan 17) but obviously that didn't happen lol. Took me 4 months to ovulate and have a couple cycles before we actually caught ovulation perfectly. So I was very glad that I actually got it removed before I planned to or else I would still be waiting now.
We aren't going on anything after #2 is born, even though we don't plan to TTC for about 3+ years as we will use condoms, and avoid my O date (once I've figured that out) as when the time comes to TTC I want to already know the date in my head when to BD!
I am broken because I have never smelled baby smell.
It's addictive
Confession: I do not like newborn baby smell. I don't get what is so great about it lol. I'm sure it's wonderful, but they just smell like breast milk/milk IMO.
I do like clean toddler smell though. Mine is always stinky, so I take it in after "impersonate Shamu at Sea World" time.
