I keep feeling like little pops and flutters. Just a second ago I had a pop that made me think and then a second later it was like a needed to pee right now or I would wet myself. Like it was when DS kicked my bladder. I know it's to early but my god it's so much harder when you know what the kicks/flutters actually feel like this time around.

peggels24, I'll be trying for a VBAC. My OB is super pro VBAC and very supportive. Their standard of care during csections is always a VBAC eligible double suture. She told me at my six week follow up after DD that I'm a great candidate, which is good, I really don't want another cs.

peggels24 I am going to try for a VBAC. I wanted a vaginal birth with my first but couldn't bc he as breech and wouldn't flip. So I want to try again for a vaginal birth- if this baby is breech too I guess I'll have to do a c section, so we'll see!

I have a forceps delivery with DS, but I actually went down for a section as he was turned the wrong way and would not come down enough. But with being wheeled down he had suddenly turned and was popping out.

I would try for a VBAC, as the recovery would be smoother for you especially with having another child to care for.

My best friend had a section and then a VBAC and she said it was the best thing ever recovery wise. The section she was crying in pain for weeks, could barely pick up her newborn. She was so scared about having another one as her DS was only 13 months when her DD was born.

I think that's my problem - my recovery wasn't awful at all.  I even had an infected incision and it still wasn't awful (clearing out the infection sucked but that was only a very short period of time).  I was up and about as soon as they pulled the catheter.  I'm actually more scared of the stories I've heard about recovery after a vaginal delivery than of the recovery from a c-section again.

I'm going to ask my OB if maybe he could schedule me for 40 weeks (he won't let me go past 41 anyway because of my age) and then if I go into labor before then, I'll try the VBAC.  I definitely don't want another induction.

It's not really a horror story, but I had a episiotomy because of the forceps, basically to put it bluntly it was a massive X right by the opening. It was really swollen and felt horrible to feel the amount of stitches. But it never hurt... it never hurt to poop, or even wee. I was terrified to wee as people always said it stings like a mother F. I was absolutely fine. I was heeled within 3 weeks. Only thing that was slightly uncomfortable was sitting down at the wrong angle.

cnf2013 my OB is very anti c-section so I should have known that he would give me the choice lol.

peggels24 I had a vaginal delivery with DS and the recovery was easy and relatively painless, so at least in my experience, you'd have nothing to fear. I have close friends who had totally opposite experiences with C-section recovery (i.e. One like yours where she was up and around right away and one with infections and being bedridden) so I'm sure both C and vaginal deliveries can yield all different outcomes.

I guess this is not that helpful but I'd do whatever you are comfortable with. I was really happy with my delivery experience but at the end of the day, it's all about getting a healthy baby into your arms, however that comes about.

I've had two vaginal deliveries and recovery was easy peasy. I was building a snowman with DD in the yard about 5 days after DS was born.

Honestly, C-sections scare the shit out of me. I have a visceral reaction to the idea of being cut open and stapled shut. I am in awe of C-section moms.

My c-section recovery wasn't too bad. I had one internal stitch migrate out that hurt like a bitch, but otherwise I was cleared to walk on my treadmill at 2 weeks and was back to running by 6 weeks pp.

That said, I spent 33 hours in labor before the call was made, and it was emergent. Like my doctor made the call to give me a spinal over general at the last possible second because baby needed out NOW. I don't feel bad about ending up with a c-section, but some of what went down prior to and in recovery I'm not happy about. And it's mostly my fault. They asked for my birth plan in triage, but I was only 36+4 and didn't have it printed yet. Then in the heat of the moment in labor I was no state to make requests. And H felt pretty shoved off because there was over a dozen people in my room for the last hour plus before they decided on my c-section. I feel like I need to have the birth I want to feel okay about how everything transpired with DD's birth.

Ive had two vaginal deliveries, one with epidural one without. Recovery has been easy both times. With DD, because I had no epidural, I was home 4 hours after having her. I took tylenol/motrin that night and that was it. If VBAC is something you're interested in, then go for it if you have your medical team's blessing.

That being said, the "ring of fire" is every bit as painful as it sounds. Ive made sounds no human being should be able to make.

Also, on the food front, I had a crazy cheetos craving. Went out and bought them, got home, wanted a doughnut instead. Like way worse then I ever wanted the cheetos. Ate the cheetos anyways.

I have to drop E off at MIL's in the morning which means I go a different way to work. I pass a Starbucks and a Wegmans and will be making two stops; one for a giant latte and one for a doughnut.

I just ordered a new doppler because I lent mine out then never got it back before we moved. I picked the slowest shipping method humanly possible to prevent me from using it to early, because crazy bitch party of me will open that thing the second I have it in my grubby little hands.

I can empathize with your last sentence. I so badly wanted a med-free vaginal birth with my first- we prepared for it for months ahead of time and it was just something I really wanted to experience. Then when I had to have a c-section without even "getting" to go into labor, I was so sad. I've seriously had dreams about having contractions because I've never had them in real life. This is my second and final baby so I really hope I get the birth experience I want.

Of course, I'll try not to be too disappointed if I have to have another section but I'd be lying if I said the process of giving birth wasn't important to me.

I won't let myself be disappointed either, but I also intend to be better prepared and have H feel more empowered to speak up when I'm unmedicated and screaming through contractions. I never got the epidural I demanded, so on top of being man handled by a dozen nurses I was also in pain that I did not prepare for. I was a hot fucking mess. 

And I say that as someone who started having prodromal labor at 30 weeks. Whose doctors said don't expect to make it past 38 weeks. You think I would have had my shit together a little more, lol.

Thanks for the input everyone! I love being able to hear about other people's experiences. It seems like there good and bad postpartum experiences no matter which method of delivery happens. Good thing I have a while to make this decision LOL

I'm planning for unmedicated this time. With DS, I labored through pitocin contractions and mostly sat on the toilet or walked.

I didn't get an epidural until I was 7cm. It didn't even have time to go into full effect before I was pushing. They had just put the catheter in and pulled it right out (and yes, I felt it all). I was in active labor for 3 hours and pushed for 15 minutes.

I'm not bothering with the epidural this time. I'd rather be able to walk around and sit on the John while laboring.

My recommendation if you are planning on getting one: get it ASAP. I waited too long for it to be worth it.


Eta: I don't make big babies. DS was 6.5 lbs and was in like 15% head percentile. I had a small tear, no idea how many stitches but I know it wasn't big. Sitting still sucked for 2 weeks though.

With DS I needed 27 stitches. My postpartum experience with him was a fucking shit show. I was a FTM and everything went to hell in a hand basket. I spent 6 days in the hospital with him.

DD I tore in the exact same spot but the MW was able to make due with 5 stitches. Did I mention my kids have 100+ percentile heads?

I had a med-free vaginal birth with DD and will try for the same again. I sit with @annperkins, the thought of a c-section scares the shit out of me. My main motivation for not getting an epidural was the thought of a needle in my back and having to get a catheter. As painful as the burning ring of fire was, I'm tempted to say the stitches after were almost worse.

This birth - I'm just hoping to have a healthy baby at the end of it and I don't care how it comes about. DS was ill for 6 days after birth and we had to stay in, and I hated that. I just wanted my baby to feel better so that we could go home. So I'm hoping this time we will be in and out asap. Plus this time I have another child to worry about and I don't want to be away from him for 6 days. I feel more prepared this time around, as I know what's going to happen, it's going to hurt like hell for a while but then you get your little squishy. Well in my case my toddler size squishy lol. Man I hope it's not true about kids getting heavier birth weights the more kids you have. But then I will most likely be having a section as DS barely fit out last time

Every time I asked for an epidural someone would stab me with morphine instead. Did nothing for my pain and I puked all three times it happened. They wouldn't give me an epidural until I was 4cm and by the time I got there i was having rolling contractions and E was deceling so they wouldn't give me one. I will get one this time or will fucking punch someone.

I desperately wanted to labor standing and walking but PROM and deceling meant internal monitor so I was stuck in bed. Hated it!
